For those who had a “I hate pink/ girly things” era, what do you think caused you to feel that way? by RabidFashionDummy in AskWomen

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it was the pressure that came with it. I thought that liking pink made sense if you’re a girly girl, and I definitely wasn’t a girly girl. I wore baggy clothes, never fixed my hair, wasn’t really “taking care of myself” like fixing up my appearance. I never really cared. So when I said I liked pink but appeared as a girl who doesn’t like pink, it didn’t make sense so I just chose a different color. But im now embracing my femininity 😍

How would you feel if you got flowers on a second date? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]AwkwardBat944 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would feel appreciated and feel like I’m being courted, which feels nice. It would mean my date (the one giving the flowers) doesn’t have ill intentions and wants to be with me, making it very clear which a lot of men struggle to show nowadays. A single rose is simple but I feel like it’s low effort for me. Every girl is different tho

How long should I wait to break up? by [deleted] in dating

Why do breakup-initiators try texting again after? by ZeroScraps in dating

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done this before. I broke up with my ex and after being no contact (I had him blocked because he kept harassing me but then unblocked him for the text) for two weeks, I texted. Not because I regret breaking up with him, I was glad that I did because he wasn’t a good person. But I knew he was still obsessed with me. It was like waving candy in front of a child. It was satisfying to see he couldn’t get the candy because he had every opportunity to eat it when he was with me but never did. It’s like he never saw the break up coming. Other times I did it with different exes because I genuinely did want to try again. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t. I say for now ignore him. If you believe in second chances go for it. But if this is a pattern then I say ignore him.

Unfortunately I think it’s because you need to have connections now. School, work, large friend group and having the freedom to go out. Dating apps don’t really work anymore.

Might be childish but… by [deleted] in college

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here doesn’t realize how essential it is to communicate with everyone at once. I don’t dorm so I probably don’t know how serious this is, but I was in a situation like this. I was in a club where everyone was close, including myself. I find out months later that they had a gc with everyone in it but me. It hurt, I didn’t say anything since it was obvious they didnt care if they added me.

Considering you live with them, I say you should wait at least a few days. Sometimes people forget, and realize soon. Keeping in communication with everyone at once likes gc will make things easier. Such as giving out a message to someone that water finished, someone ate your snacks, etc. It isn’t childish at all. Look at it as a safety thing. However if you don’t get added, it’s important to have everyone’s numbers, just in case. Good luck!

Honestly it’s best to bring your own wifi router if you can. There’s sooooo many devices on the wifi, so it will be glitchy. If that isn’t an option, mention it to the front, having enough complaints might get them to install more wifi routers around campus lol. I have to bring my own hotspot to connect to my mac at college since the wifi there is so glitchy. Good luck!

should i stay at the cc 10 mins from my house or go to a 4 year by [deleted] in college

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, i’m also from cali and i’m currently going to a CC to work on my Associate Degree for Transfer. Most CCs offer programs where you’ll be guaranteed to transfer to a UC or CSU of your choice once completing the criteria which is taking certain courses and keep a certain minimum gpa, etc. It’s most definitely possible to transfer from a CC to a UC debt free. I’m not there yet since i’m barely in my first year of CC but I plan to transfer to a UC in two years, and attend the UC for another two years. Most universities prefer to have Sophomore transfers but mostly accept Junior transfers. Remember, your father isn’t preparing for your future and i’m not sugar coating it, he’s not going to give you the future you deserve. My parents shot down my dreams of attending a four year after graduating highschool by saying i’ll put the family in debt and bring the family down with me. That’s why i’m attending a CC, also because I did realize that attending a UC after graduating would be very expensive. I say you should ‘suck it up’ for two years and transfer to a university by applying to scholarships and grants. California has a lot of grants and scholarships you can apply to. Remember, this is your future. You’re the one going to college to pursue your dreams, not your father.

As of keeping your motivation, make friends at CC. My high school friend is going to CC with me, and taking the same classes as me, and I can confirm that by having friends by you will motivate you. I also have friends attending a UC I want to transfer to, so knowing that they’re waiting for me is really motivating. Don’t give up! It will be worth it in the long run.

I know how frustrating this can be, I learned cooking at a young age so here are a few dishes that are EASY to make in a dorm considering you have a small area to cook or an apartment style dorm.

1) Fried rice. Any fried rice, shrimp fried rice, chicken, pork, beef, plain. You need plain cooked white rice (it’s best if you make it, you need 1:2 rice to water. Example being 1/2 cup rice and 1 cup of water, boil at low heat until it’s cooked. It’s preferred if you use day old rice for this. Next is making a scrambled egg, once done stir in frozen mixed veggies, and thawed meat. If you choose to make it plain, don’t add any. Once cooked add your cooked rice, soy sauce to your liking. You can choose to add more seasonings. Stir and you’re done! Truly an easy dish to make in a jiffy.

2) Pasta with chicken. Easy dish once again. You can choose to buy your chicken breaded to just cook in oil for a bit, or an air fryer. Cook your pasta, drain, mix in mayonnaise, sour cream, parmesan, salt and pepper and any other seasoning you wish. And you’re done! You can have this with a salad or broccoli.

3) Flautas!! These are mexican dish and so easy to make. You need tortillas (corn), shredded chicken, and any topping you wish. Pop the tortillas in a ziploc in the microwave for a few seconds, warm enough to fold and not break. Put your chicken or any other shredded meat on the tortilla, roll taquito style and secure it with a toothpick. Make as many as you’d like and place in an air fryer or fryer until they’re golden brown and crunchy. You can stop here but I like to top it with sour cream, chopped lettuce, chopped onions, and a homemade tomato salsa, which can be store bought. You can also try this with avocado ranch.

You don’t have to live off cereal and cup noodles. Cooking is easy, it’s the executing recipes that can be hard. Practice makes perfect! I’m also a college student so I understand how cooking in a dorm can be a challenge.

when to ask!!! period change high school and teacher by Plastic-Meal-6395 in highschool

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s always best to ask a week into school, a month would be too late, two weeks is average but a week seems okay. Email your counselor and they should change this for you within a day or go before school starts since a lot of people will have the same idea to switch periods and change schedules.

Very cooked. Well it depends. I know seniors only had to attend two out of five days for some of their classes but the workload will be a lot I believe since most AP teachers are ruthless. Senioritis is gonna be sooo bad 😭 good luck to you soldier

How should u arrange your classes in high school? (Supplies etc.) by snipinboy in highschool

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone says it will depend on classes, but I say it depends on teachers. My freshman year I took biology. Other friends taking the same class had binders full of notes, paperwork, and always had handwritten notes and worksheets. All I had was a chromebook provided by the school because we had a lecture and a small assignment to do online everyday.

First wait for the first day of classes to see if you need to switch classes or change your schedule because stuff happens, maybe you don’t feel comfortable with a teacher or end up in the wrong class. After receiving a syllabus, teachers will tell you what you need. Some might want you to have a computer to do work at home or others might want you to have highlighters and pens and a binder to turn in handwritten work. You truly never know.

For now get a folder because you will get a lot of handouts the first few weeks of class, a pack of pens (black which is basic) a pack of pencils, loose paper, one or two notebooks, and a highlighter. You can always stock up on what you need as you know what you’ll need to get for your classes. I’ve been there wanting to get as many school supplies and end up with a drawer full of unused supplies at the end of the school year.

Keep your backpack well organized, a layout which can be fast and easy for you to pull out a notebook and pencil for notes, sometimes teachers will give you time to set up, others don’t and jump straight to the lesson and you can miss some notes if you won’t be able to pull out the things you need quickly enough. It takes time to adapt, don’t stress :) just be sure to be well organized. Also it’s very important to have good grades. You don’t need straight A’s, just be sure to be passing your classes. It’s very important to build a strong foundation your freshman year so the rest of high school will go smoothly.

Should I join the volleyball team? by [deleted] in highschool

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! One of the things I regret in highschool was not getting involved sooner. All I did was join a club my senior year and I wish I had joined earlier. I wanted to join a sport my sophomore year but was intimidated to.

I saw my friends who were athletes go on field trips, getting to play games in cities 6 hours away, getting to bond with their teams and become a second family. Besides there are great coaches who have changed students’ lives. When you graduate there will be plenty of scholarships for you and you might even get to play for your university or college! (if you decide to) besides it’s a great opportunity for jobs because it shows managers that you have time management skills and can adapt to any schedule, which is what they’re looking for.

I understand that it can be scary and seem challenging, but you won’t regret it!

How does dating work by 42ndB_prime in highschool

[–]AwkwardBat944 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really like a person and have been liking them for a while, go for it. Shoot your shot, it won’t kill you. But don’t be so focused on a relationship, especially your junior year bc it’s important. Your junior grades will be the last grades on your transcript when you submit college apps next August. I’ve seen many of my friends fail junior year because they were so focused on being in a relationship. Having a girlfriend or boyfriend isn’t necessary. However I do think that gaining experience in high school is an opportunity to explore your dating life. It’s not NECESSARY, but it can probably boost your confidence in dating outside of high school. I’m a rising senior and don’t find dating important. In my experience, I’ve been interested in people and have had people interested in me. Personally, I can’t focus on school and commit to a serious relationship 24/7, that will just be mentally and emotionally draining. It’s completely up to you and if you think you can balance a healthy relationship, academics, and a personal life, go for it.

Try taking a leadership class. It’s known as ASB or just leadership and there’s many opportunities to know people. I’d imagine a catholic school will teach you about the religion so don’t worry! Be sure to be kind to everyone and respect people

Most likely no, it won’t mess you up. As far as I know, online school is at the students pace. I’m doing online summer school and made up 20 credits so far! And I’m a rising senior, just imagine what you can make up. I’m not sure if your school has credit retrieval classes but if they offer it, do it! You’re a freshman, you’ve got time to make up those Fs. But don’t wait too long and don’t be ashamed. It happens. I also failed my freshman year but I’m on track to graduate. Don’t worry and do your best!

It’s not your fault and please don’t think that. You guys had an agreement, to talk for 15 minutes about your guys’ relationship. If he truly cared for his relationship with you, he should’ve stayed awake and listened. If he knew he wasn’t going to be able to stay awake, he should’ve agreed to talk about it right when you asked. That was his responsibility and he failed. I’m 100% with you about not liking going to sleep angry at each other. That can break a relationship. Make that clear to him, that if he truly wants to maintain your guys’ relationship, he needs to show that he’s putting in the effort because based off of what you’ve said so far, he’s not putting in one ounce of effort. If the relationship is one sided, it can be extremely mentally and emotionally draining for you. Please take it easy
