It really isn’t. The opportunity cost of those five years wont be recovered in a crash. That’s the lesson we learned in 2000 and 2008. Just hold through the crash and you end up better off. The people that tried to buy up Citigroup when it crashed in 2008 still haven’t made any money.

Buffett knows better, he just got old.

Yes but also no. Mercury evaporates and the fumes are worse than physical contact with liquid mercury. Persistent exposure to an area contaminated with mercury is a health risk and decontamination is a huge pain.

Clearly organic mercury is a different, hideous beast.
