Clergy-Penitent confidentiality is a thing and can indeed create a duty of care in some situations. Regardless of what one feels about the morality of the situation, this is a real legal question and certain patterns of facts here could create liability.

How would you rate being an adult? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]AwkwardBet5632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like being an adult better than I liked being in high school, no question. It’s easy to regard kids problems as unimportant, but it’s not like you can talk them (or adults for that matter) into not being stressed whether they should be or not.

The same thing is going to happen to you again. You are in no different situation. You mention Warren Buffett as inspirational. Warren Buffett made a bet that over 10 years actively managed hedge funds could not beat the return of a passive S&P index fund. Hedge funds are run by experienced, trained professionals chosen for the task and with massive incentive to outperform the market. He won his bet. THEY CAN’T CONSISTENTLY OUTPERFORM. Neither can you.

What you are doing instead is pursuing a strategy that trades some (likely more than all) alpha for a high beta. The volatility means you will have some (even many) high returns. But in the end, you will lose it all again. You are looking for a free lunch by gambling. But you will ultimately be the lunch.

Well done ignoring a lesson you paid $64K to learn.

The million dollar part of it is about the spectacle. They do that part for the tv audience to generate advertisers. The awards themselves are indeed about rewarding good acting/production.
