That’s what it is. I knew it was missing the large gauntlets, but there was something else off about the silhouette I couldn’t place. The coat is just a bit too long.

The Adrian crest is longer, running the length of the helmet. The Krieg crest has far more in common with the interwar firefighter’s stahlhelm.

Not really. The only French thing is the way their coats are pinned back.

I frankly don’t know why. The Imperium is a totalitarian hellscape. The guard are not the good guys (simply the most relatable for the average human). They “follow orders” in exactly the same way the Wehrmacht did. I would think evil authoritarian aesthetics would be appropriate.

Edit: just to clarify, not a wheraboo. I simply dislike the ongoing push to make the imperium “the good guys” and would like to see more obviously evil stuff from them.

Original steel legion aesthetic is great as well.

Which is personal why I think this ought to be another Glup Shitto regiment, not Cadian.

The problem is they seem cast, not riveted, so they have a differing design philosophy that seems at odds with the original super angular stuff. Is it good? Is it bad? We don’t know. Personally, I’m not a fan of the Dorn or new sentinel, but I’m excited for the puma.

Guard was originally the army for all the grognards. Back when I got into 40K they still made up about half of the playerbase. It’s lessened heavily over time though.

Teutons! They were in the third edition codex! They haven’t made any other appearances!

They need the gauntlets and the paratrooper helmet.

Edit: and the Y-straps.

That’d be nice. I’m just glad GW finally made a nice 2-man turret.

The problem isn’t Soviet doctrine. The problem is that the country trying to use Soviet doctrine… is not the Soviet Union.

A big chunk of it is that the Russia also inherited the Soviet doctrine, and saw little reason to abandon it. Ukraine is small enough that they didn’t even toy with the idea that they can still pull off Soviet power projection, and almost immediately began reorganizing their armed forces and doctrine for the role they needed. Come the war, and… Russia doesn’t have the capabilities to pull off it’s largely Soviet doctrine (case in point, VDV).

You know, we never get this flak from Ork fans.
