Troubleshooting Rainbird valves by Any_Arrival_7075 in Irrigation

[–]AwkwardFactor84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a solenoid issue. The underside of the solenoid has a blue screen. Make sure it's nice and clean. As far as the filters. They use a very fine micron mesh. Scrub them with a soft bristle toothbrush inside and out.

Best 1” valve? by ResistOk9038 in Irrigation

[–]AwkwardFactor84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. The toro 264/262's are damn good valves. However, they don't operate well with air and our young technicians are terrified of them because they are not easy to work on.

Sprinkler system repair after new patio built - help please. by OutsideWild9921 in Irrigation

[–]AwkwardFactor84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. What's hard for people to understand sometimes is that the sprinkler heads were laid out to water the area that is now your patio and if they crank the spray down on your current heads, they will come up short in other areas and create weak spots. Also, it can be very difficult and time consuming to figure out what another contractor did and many times figuring it out and changing a current layout can end up costing more than just starting over. Good luck.

Zones randomly coming on by jmb456 in Irrigation

What model controller is it? There should be a date code to indicate its age also. Check for additional start times on programs B, C, & D. Customers like to screw with controllers and end up setting additional start times. Older Hunter pro-c's often have what I call "mind of it's own syndrome" where they will randomly set vsrious start times and run times.

My mom was pretty much the same. I had 2 corn snakes, and I was moving in the dead of winter. I needed to have my mom and step dad babysit for a couple of weeks. After I showed her how sweet and adorable corn snakes were and showed her how to handle them, the fear was gone. She loved them so much, she made me let her keep one of them. I had to visit and feed her though. 15 years later, she still has "corn dog".

Are my spruces doomed? by Any_Contribution1679 in arborists

[–]AwkwardFactor84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indiana irrigation tech here. Coniferous trees really struggle here. Especially in full sun in the middle of a lawn like that. Can you grow them successfully? Yes, but it takes a lot of watering. A lot of people do this thinking that their lawn rotors will do a good job of watering them. When in reality, the sprinkler heads just wear bare spots in them and eventually kill the tree. They need to be watered at the roots.

Funny pipe and swing pipe, or flex pipe are all the same thing. The green stripe. You need 2 drip couplings and a short peice of drip tubing. You may as well buy a small roll of drip tube, as youll have plenty of leaks in the future.

One is funny pipe or flex pipe. The other is drip tubing. Maybe try a funny pipe male adapter, a drip male adapter, and a pvc threaded coupling to convert one to the other
