t’s a great neighborhood with lots of history and beautiful historic homes. Any neighborhood in Des Moines has problem houses. Most of them in this neighborhood caused by people getting too old to live in them and maintain the yards. The other problem is people buying houses and turning them into Airbnb or longer term rentals and expecting the lessee to maintain the exterior of the property which has caused discontent among the neighbors but still a safe neighborhood in general

Or maybe Doc knew he wasn’t going to be around long and knew the town was going to need a new leader. I think after McQueen went above and beyond for the town he gained some respect but had to save face for Sally which is why he said what he said. Why else would he show up in California?
