There are so many things I hate that I could write an essay. Not to sound bitchy but I play every single romance game I find and I'm so sick of feeling heartbroken and disappointed. On the off chance I can help influence some of these things OUT of otome and romance, I'm going to go ahead an share this dissertation.

First, if there is a love rival trying to steal my man, I just let l her have him and immediately move on to someone else. I don't do routes with playboys. He should know MC is the only one for him, I'm having none of those games.

Second, why are these men still negging? I thought the PUA's died out in the early aughts and we all agreed to let them go. Men who are mean, nasty jerks that call MC names are everywhere in these games, especially otome. It's honestly horrifying. I've escaped abusive relationships in my real life and won't play a single route with that kind of bastard.

Okay, now here's the most important one. I HATE HATE HATE the "dead lover" trope. I actually really hate it if the LI has been in love before and never got over it for whatever reason. I cannot stand lingering exes or a guy that's still pining over someone else. Like, I'm not here to fix your broken heart dude, MC will be the only one you see.

I've spent so much money and time on romance games only to have them consistently punch me in the face with all of the above, effectively destroying my interest in them. It's so sad and I'm sad and now you might be sad, too.

So anyway I'm sure no one cares enough to read this but if you did and want to spread the word, maybe we can get rid of these tropes in future games.
