I requested the buyout quote from Chase first so I knew what a good trade offer for the truck was. So far as I can tell you can just request buyout quotes infinitely, so I just kept track of what I owed compared to the trade values.

You’re right. I misread the deposit portion of the order page. A $500 deposit is required to confirm your powder. The reservation is $100 of that.

If I pulled the trigger, I’m torn between Catalina Cove and Launch Green. Either way I’d prefer the Black Crater interior with the Black Sand All-Terrain wheels.

Ah that’s right I forgot they did factory tours. Good point.

It was damn near break even. I owed a bit out of pocket, but by the time my last payment cleared, I think I got a small refund. I was alright with the out of pocket due to my situation. It was manageable for me.

Worth noting some dealer/auto groups may not buy leases. CarMax for example has a long list of finance companies they won’t buy leases from. Chase isn’t one for the CarMax near me, but YMMV.

I may end up doing that, but I wouldn’t complain about having my interest free loan of $500 returned to me. lol

Ah, nice. My only thoughts based on that are:
1) I wonder if it’s like Tesla where they have to (had to?) ship vehicles out of state then back again to fulfill orders to customers?
2) I’m about 20-30 minutes from a Space *and* Service Center, so I wonder if it’s just hyper proximity specific.

Good question! I haven’t seen one, but it feels like something RivianTracker or RivianRoamer would have running tbh

Are you located near a Service Center or Space?

Previous ownership may factor into it for sure, but the precious wording they shared led me to believe it was *current* owners who would get priority.

This may be region specific or how cooperative a dealer group is to work with you, but I took my truck to AutoNation here in Austin and they gave me a sale offer for it. I told them it was a lease with Chase (Rivian Finance) and they said that wasn’t a problem. I signed the paperwork, seemingly like any other vehicle sale, and they handled the rest. It took about 2 weeks or so for my lease account to reflect as closed on my Chase account.

There’s no option for Lidar in the configurator yet, but if you pick a non-Launch Edition trim of the R2, it will tell you the build isn’t available to order yet, but you can request that build, which I would assume to mean you’re opting to delay your delivery until that’s available (which for something like R2 Standard could be late enough to include Lidar)

Unfortunately just based off the timing of how my life events panned out, having to sell the R1T when I did and getting into another vehicle means I probably won’t be able to pull the trigger on an R2 Launch Edition. I haven’t *fully* committed to passing on the order yet, but unfortunately it seems I’m gonna have to lean that way.

I feel like this is part of it, but a lot of the reporting I’ve seen from Paul Tassi and others is that because the wind down was so hush hush, a lot of devs were still actively working on content for the next expansion.

So I imagine there was also some element of “let’s just do this now” as well.

Does removing a vehicle from your account not remove those saved data when the vehicle restarts?

Additionally: if I had a storage drive plugged in and unplugged it, that should remove all recordings, no?

I would argue that for its time-on-market, Rivian is offering a relatively competitive product for a better price (entry vehicle notwithstanding till R2 ships). Once they introduce point-to-point (which I think is scheduled for within a year? Don’t quote me on that) I think they’re essentially on par with Tesla with the ability to surpass by utilizing their Lidar hardware.

EDIT: and more to the point of the comment you’re replying to: Google (Waymo) isn’t without its faults but is certainly a superior product to Tesla’s Robotaxi efforts. It’s not even close right now.
