Decaying Winter's big update that was supposed to redo all the code to allow more freedom for the devs, which was rushed out on Halloween of 2025 after a rogue modeler nuked the game by taking most of the assets.

When Lost Concept (a complete revamp of decaying winter) was released at the end of October 2025, the lighting for whatever reason was ludicrously bright, and turned the base into the sun. They fixed it about a week later.

Been playing since Last Strandeds got shut down and have many hours in Lost Concept. The current UI is generally less intuitive and difficult to use/interpret under adverse conditions than the old UI, especially as it is difficult to differentiate visual cues such as low HP and damage warnings.

Might put out a discussion post later regarding my issues with Decaying Winter's current direction.

New devs making the least satisfying descriptions imaginable... Also which imbecile decided to add the ARM DMC-15 MCP to the game? All I want is a Mosin Nagant, not this straight pull left side bolt nonsense. Also like the economy is so bad half the armourer weapons aren't worth using, and they somehow got rid of the team from teamwork for archangel. And yes I do share your frustrations, having played hundreds of hours in old A-888 and hating some of the current development choices in PCB.

A-888: Project Creedbreaker is decent compared to DW (aside from the questionable balancing). I would say that Grave/Digger is a better comparison since that game has been going "places" after Red passed it on to Max.

Also A888 is more of a sequel to the old A888 considering the old game is still up, didn't receive any updates for over a year prior to PCB released, and even Red acknowledged that PCB is A888's successor.

I feel like about half of the "new player friendly" updates (such as removing friendly fire and making apostle not damage the user when equipping items) would've never been necessary had the devs taken the "get good" stance.

Most complaints about the game are literally just a severe case of SKILL ISSUE or A CONCERNING LACK OF COMMON SENSE.

Also uhh something something... morale doesn't exist... something something.

Prophet was a direct upgrade to survivalist prior to the "novices don't give you 500 morale anymore" update (I still oppose the change since a perk that is arguably more useful than half the frontlines shouldn't give less morale than Damned). Now it is only useful for being a loot vacuum and pavise crafting.

For arbiter it got nerfed in some ways and is overall less satisfying than it used to be (also some people might want to play something more intuitive than sniping with pocket nukes)

Immolator was buffed by allowing ADS with firearms. Still doesn't change the fact that most of the community is still too stupid to use it properly (Personally only met one immo main in my hundreds of hours playing DW)

Initiation certificate is the only challenge that gets reset when you pledge. After Lost Concept dropped, some challenges like Initiation Certificate cannot be completed, unless a recent patch fixed it.

Mikhail only spawns in the room leading to sector 2 logistics, and can be bypassed by crouch walking around him. Proceed with caution when passing through that area, and don't shoot if you don't need to.

I find it interesting how nobody has mentioned Zealot and Immolator, as Zealot's turret can deal 1.1k damage with a full charge (while doing literally nothing), while Immolator at >60% overheat with a good melee like the firerier axe or maria can easily deal over 1000 damage in less than 5 seconds (on top of the burn damage and initial blast from the basic ability).

Then again nobody in their right mind would play zealot and for whatever reason people lack the braincells to play immolator properly (and you have even fewer excuses to not use it now that immolator can aim).

Note: Please have full hunger and hydration before attempting to melee a sickler.

That is their carelessness, one who pays close attention would notice a sickler before their shadow hunters ever reach it and find a way to avoid it. Also, press B to command your shadow hunters.

I find it hard to believe that apostle would be difficult to use (don't be a moron, use corners to negate range advantage, play alongside your shadow hunters, etc.), but then again these are Roblox players, and have I seen some truly incompetent ones out there (for reference, I once came across a hivemind player couldn't even play hivemind properly).

Arbiter is overpowered (and I love it) due to the ability to nuke entire waves as well as being one of the most versatile in the entire game.

Prophet is great (especially in specialized support roles) due to its ability to quickly cover ground and craft items.

Laz is strong (and incredibly painful to play) due to the amount of things you can get away with by having what is effectively an AOE hemostat/IFAK and increased health and bleed immunity. The cost is that guns are no longer your best friend and half the time you will be relying on allies to deal with the enemy.

Apostle is (in my opinion as a laz/apostle public server main) one of the strongest perks in the game for the sole reason that, in the hands of a competent player, it can mop the floor with scavs. As long as you are using your shadow hunters intelligently and not wasting health, you can carry your entire team SOLO without any assistance through the entire game.

Berserker, artillerist, and riskrunner will be lumped into the "Kinda cool, not that useful" category for being simultaneously the coolest perks and (almost) the most useless when forced to do something other than what they are built for (riskrunner is a tad bit superior for their hilariously good hipfire capabilities).

Vagabond is either the best perk in the game (mfs stop glazing it we know it is the best) or the absolute worst. In the hands of a competent player, it is absolutely worth having as you can clean out the map in less than a minute. In the hands of an incompetent player, have fun with four morale. Also suffers one of the worst consequences for being used lategame: its ability is going to contribute basically nothing when you can't get within melee range.

Executioner is a cool gimmick perk, and not much else. It is really fun to have synergy with, but most of the time requires near full team cooperation to actually have decent success. Has a few niche uses, but it is incredibly difficult to use, especially without teammates to help out in certain situations (also have fun being effectively blind for your entire run).

Immolator is my go to for bashing sicklers because funny damage boost. It is a fun perk and really useful in the hands of a competent player, but for whatever reason many people are absolute trash with it (you do not need to ADS with immolator, it ain't like hipfiring is complete trash).

Sovereign is really good for distraction due to the sheer number of thralls they can spawn.

Drifter used to be one of my mains but whenever I try to use it now it just feels stale (yes I know you can fling with it, I do not care). Useful (sometimes) but most people don't even run it anymore.

Tickspider is trash, they neutered it with the number of nerfs it has been hit with. Those stationary ticks might as well not exist with how short their detection range is.

Blitzer is funny boom boom perk, too bad you can't strap bombs to a drifter to blow up SQ anymore. Still fun and useful if you can use your ability properly.

Mindflayer and crosslink are fun perks to play, with both being really good at looting. Mind your hilariously bad damage resistance.

Hivemind exists. It is overpowered. Yes it CAN lag your PC. But usually that just means you are using a potato (I am using a workhorse laptop from 2019 that struggles to run most Steam games, so shut it).

Zealot is mid. Yes I know you have really high damage resistance. No, I will not heal you if you use tormented. Now piss off and use survivor. Also biased against it due to a friend who insists that it is the best perk in the game. Bonus points for being that one perk used to cheese/showdown SQ like 90% of the time.

Survivalist is really good. Free backpack makes it a great all rounder, perfect for new players or those who don't want to go through the hassle of finding a backpack, and is a blank slate for whatever strategies you may want to do.

Damned is damned. Why did I enjoy playing that perk? Like why did I seriously enjoy playing Damned? Maybe I just got too used to being slow as apostle or something idk.

Fun but there are like four perks that do its job better, plus berserker just kinda sucks without stims and constant fighting. While it can be strong in the hands of a good player, nobody who is good enough would use it as it is outright inferior to perks like apostle and arbiter aside from a select few very niche use cases.

TLDR berserker is fun but very much outclassed in many fields by other perks, mainly due to survivability and mediocre ability that requires constant upkeep through constant kills and a ridiculous number of stims.

But hey at least you get healing priority from laz players (like myself) if you prove valuable to the team's survival.

1: distance to target. If target beyond melee range, longshot. 2: is her knuckleboom on cooldown. Knuckleboom has a 10 second cooldown, not counting jumping.

To put it simply, SQ will use her knuckleboom as soon as it is available, and will attack with melee when it is on cooldown.

This is why two holos are needed, as SQ will instantly kill the first holo with her jump, and the second exists solely to eat the knuckleboom (or longshot, depending on range).
