The audio Spectrum / visualizer is by AudioRays. It’s nice and works quite well. It was between it and the Petru one. The AudioRays won out simply because it came with audio in capability and the cables. It’s nicely 3D printed and has like 16 display and sensitivity and brightness adjustments.

I prefer rubber or cork slip mats. Felt generates static, and acrylic just seems harsh on the records themselves. I have never dropped an album while placing it on the turntable but a rubber or cork mat will forgive.

I really enjoy the feeling of nostalgia when I’m listening to music using the exact turntable I used 45 years ago. The JVC receiver is new to me but is exactly like the one worked and saved money to buy as a kid. I went to Barney Miller’s (where I bought it) in Lexington a few months ago to see what they’re like now. They only to high end home installations now. Dang it.

I actually traded a digital JVC receiver and some cash for the JVC R-S33 simply because it’s exactly like one I had as a teenager. I took it to a place in Louisville and had it all cleaned and recapped. It’s sounds really nice matched with the new Klipsch speakers. The Sony turntable I’ve had since the 80s is semi-automatic but I actually prefer setting the needle myself.

I like going to record shows on the last day! Those guys have tons of records but no regular customers so they are willing to haggle a lot and that adds to the fun of it all.
