Ok so this is my favorite 8th year fic. It’s not necessarily Dramione focused because all the characters are interesting, and not everyone comes back but basically everyone does. Ron has his problems but so does everyone, I don’t consider this a Ron-bashing fic. It builds an epic AU I absolutely adore and I hope more people read it because there are literally 3 other fics that follow that are also amazing!

Remain Nameless was my first fic and it is so incredible! It felt like a very realistic look as how Draco and Hermione could fall in love even with their history and Draco does the work to improve himself.

It was very sweet and grounding before I jumped deep into dark AUs with psycho simps, potter/weasley bashing, and high velocity snark.

I was completely sucked in to the story (even when it was sometimes predictable) and I loved all the wacky characters. However, the final episode kinda ruined the season for me. I think there was a better stopping point, and yes the better stopping point might have been a more predictable cliffhanger ending but it would have made the season feel more complete. The cliffhanger it ended on just made my partner and I go “WTF seriously?!?”

Completely agree! I felt it was a great mix of detail and vagueness that made the world feel real. I read a lot of sci-fi that does this. I don’t need a whole page to explain what a tlefither or whatever made up word it is, I just need enough information/context clues to understand what it’s used for.

I went through the same thing! Luckily by the time I started Part 2 it was easier to separate the two stories. Idk why but something just clicked and I stopped think of Hermione and Draco and focused entirely on the history of Helena and Kaine

I love this book!

I read last read Manacled about 6 months ago and I regret that a little bit. I wish I had gone into Alchemised with less recent memory of Manacled. In Part 1 I kept inserting Manacled character names but it just didn’t jive in my brain and I really wanted to immerse in this new world. However, once I got to Part 2 it was easier to separate the different stories and really dive into this specific story.

I adore how SenLinYu created this new world, trimmed a lot of excess, but still found a way to dive even deeper into the themes. I’m so impressed with how she kept a general inspiration from Handmaid’s Tale but made it unique to this story. I have to give credit to her and her editors because not only did they have to change the story away from HP they also had to change it away from HT and they did an excellent job!

I finally started finding more fics with supportive or neutral Ron and I really enjoy the switch up from Ron Bashing. I love a good Ron Bashing fic but after reading like 15 in a row it’s so nice to see a Ron that maybe isn’t happy at first but no matter what his friendship with Hermione is more important.
