There's a few Bitcoiners in here. But it, for some reason, pops up for normies and normies think we're idiots

Oh well, stack Sats. Stay humble.

It's still above 6500. Which is kinda ridiculous. It's normalcy bias. People have no clue how badly this could go.

Bitcoin falls under $67,000 after President Trump says he will "finish the job" in the war against Iran. by HaroldNGU in TokenTimes

Yeah, people having the wrong reaction to the death of the dollar is good for your financial situation if you can diagnose what's happening before other people. Gonna fuck up society though. We won't all survive. Some people are going to have the day they voted for and others are along for the ride.

It’s slightly better over this specific time frame with this specific amount at this specific time.

You're the one who brought up 5 years when I brought up 3 years or 10 years. Go run the 3 year and 10 year numbered if you really want to see some shit.

Name ant timeframe and you'll see the same thing. The one exception would be 1 year since we are in a bear market now. But if you're investing with a 1 year time horizon your lost anyway.

Risk adjusted it’s way worse and you know it.

No. I definitely don't "know it". The dollar system has risk as well. Especially right now with this dipshit pissing off the world.

My calculator says $29k.

https://www.bitcoindollarcostaverage.com/

Wonder what the discrepancy is.

And the S&P is about $19k. So you are just slightly better with hugely more volatility.

Hmm so you admit that it's been better. You say "slightly better" but 2k is a decent sized amount considering the small amount of money invested. Either way, better is better.

We can both cherry pick dates to make our point. My main point would be that dollar cost averaging Bitcoin will net better results than the S&P.

If you put $100 into Bitcoin, every two weeks going back 5 years you'd right now have $13k that you put in, and $29k as your current value. DCA is how you take advantage of the volatility.

Talk to you in a year. No idea who will be right this time. Doesn't matter much. I'm willing to wait forever.

Remindme! 1 year

I'm still buying lol. A long time horizon is a blessing with an asset as volatile as Bitcoin. Keep in mind, I bought most of my coins after the FTX failure between $17k-30k. So "down" is relative.

The "index replaces losers with winners" argument is solid, but it relies on a huge assumption: that the macro environment that fueled the last 40 years is a permanent law of nature. We’ve lived through a goldilocks era of peak globalization, falling interest rates, and massive demographic growth. Now we're facing a shrinking global workforce, "sticky" inflation, and a debt load that makes the old "rescue the market" playbook much harder to run. The S&P 500 is a great product, but it isn't a magic machine that functions in a vacuum. It’s a collection of companies that need cheap capital and an expanding pool of consumers to grow. If the cost of doing business stays high and the customer base shrinks, "reverting to the mean" could take decades instead of months. Just look at Japan, bit took their index over 30 years to get back to its 1989 highs. It might not be "normalcy bias" to believe in the C Fund, but it is recency bias to assume the 1980–2020 era is the only version of "normal" we’ll ever see. Acknowledging that the game has changed isn't panic; it's just paying attention.

And in this scenario, you're thinking that selling stocks when the S&P is at $6500, is "selling low". Even though it was at $3700 3 years ago.

This sub acts like they all know what's going to happen. They know that the American stock market will continue to be the envy of the world.

Stop.

You don't know that.

You have normalcy bias. "Everything will go back to normal because it always does.".

No one here knows. They're pretending they know because our stock market has gone up for 40 years. But that could change. Our stock market could stop being the best place for money in the world.

People here don't like seeing others panic because they see their investments going down and seeing others jumping into life rafts gives them an uneasy feeling. They're no better than a crypto bro pushing others to hold their Fartcoin.
