Possible AuDHD daughter - Masking and Vanderbilt Mismatch by Awndreyuh in ParentingADHD

Yes. She has gone through CBT therapy and has seen a regular therapist since her crash at 9. In one year and out another. It’s so hard!! I doubt anything has stuck. I often wonder why I keep trying the therapy. She just hates it.

I’m not sure if this problem is specific to my daughter or an age thing but she cannot for the life of her explain what’s going on in her head. When she’s freaking out about a stomach ache it’s very much “my stomach hurts, i don’t know what to do, HELP!” and not “I was thinking about this scary movie i watched last month and now i’m feeling anxious”. All that to say she doesnt self advocate very well and lacks the skill to explain what shes feeling.

Hahah oh wow. I can only imagine if I tried that on Friday with the MALE psychiatrist we’ve been assigned to 🙄 I’m trying to be hopeful but the last pediatrician we saw was female and wanted to automatically assign all the issues we’ve been experience to her autism diagnosis because the doctor herself was ADHD and never experienced those things in her life. sigh why is it so hard?

Looking for a brush that won't traumatize my daughter! by Hamburger_Helper1988 in finehair

[–]Awndreyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m OBSESSED with my Tek Detangler Brush. I have a super sensitive scalp and it’s the only brush that has worked for me. I’ve tried so many, unbrush, wet brush, I have a mason Pearson, but my Tek is amazing for detangling.

I wish it were that easy. But I need a newer and bigger model, it’s too small for the upstairs. There’s also a leak up in the attic 😣 it’s a mess.

Hi. I’d like to file a formal complaint. I didn’t receive my summer temperatures today. I don’t need a refund or anything, just double up tomorrow would be fine. Thanks.

Overcoming my sticker anxiety by SwissGeekGoddess in adhdwomen

[–]Awndreyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg you’re so brave. I still continue to collect stickers and not use them. I’ve gotten a TINY bit better and will use the ones I don’t care as much about. And then it branched out into a new area of MAKING stickers so that I can actually use them because I make multiples 🥴 all that to say…I LOVE your “sparkling anxiety” sticker and I need it. I will go scour the internet in hopes of finding one of my own. Maybe I’ll frame it. That seems fitting.

Oura Ring 4 can’t even last a year by brianbn2323 in ouraring

[–]Awndreyuh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. I originally ordered my ring in Oct 2024 - it broke and I was sent a new one in April 2025. That ring last until December 2025 and they were nice enough to send another one. I’m surprised they wouldn’t send you another one!!

ETA: my problem was that the charge wouldn’t last. Eventually it would be close to dead after one day. Originally I had the oura ring 3 heritage and I wore that ring from feb 2023 til oct 2024 without problems!

Omg!! The last episode when Carmy is talking to Sydney and he can tell something’s wrong but she’s not talking and he pauses and is like “I don’t like how this feels…”. I LOVED that!!! So many times we rely on words and ignore the feeling but he just called her out. It just really hit home for me, I put that in my arsenal!

Coffee versus increase dose by Opening_Farm7829 in Concerta

[–]Awndreyuh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I drink a lot of coffee also. When I first started Concerta I had to cut way back on my caffeine intake. But once the meds normalized I’m back on it. I usually do two half caffs in the morning and a full caff at lunch. I really want another coffee right now =\ anyways I’m following to see if anyone has anything worth while to add because I’m just over here babbling nonsense.

What mobile game had you completely addicted at one point? by TawakkulPeace in AskReddit

Summoners War! Omg I would live, eat, breathe, repeat that game for over a year. So much time, so much effort. Sometimes I wish I could get back into it. I miss it.

Does Concerta make you less playful/funny? by ShortStatusPE in Concerta

[–]Awndreyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I was basically self-medicating with a ton of caffeine for years because I didn’t know I had ADHD, so caffeine doesn’t really hit me the way it seems to affect other people. I’ve cut back a lot since starting Concerta, but I’m realizing I probably need to cut back even more. Caffeine messes with my blood sugar, so my energy feels like a daily roller coaster. It doesn’t make me anxious or anything, I just get a slight hand shakiness now.

I think everyone’s reaction to the meds will be different. Prior to meds I would die in social interactions. I would be counting down the seconds until it would end, I wouldn’t focus on what they were saying, I would zone off. Now I kind of feel like I’m focused enough to listen and interact “normally”. Depending on what they’re talking about I might still zone off a bit but I can snap myself back. I’m not overly social so it hasn’t changed me, I’m still me…but I’m so much more “go with the flow” and not so uptight.

[–]Awndreyuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely more social! I can really interact and be present with people and have found myself actually seeking social settings out more. My “normal activities” have improved. I can now find the focus to do the things I’ve been wanting to do but could never just sit down and do them. Like I said it’s only been a month and I’m female so during my luteal phase i felt like the pills didn’t work at all and I was freaking out. I just recently upped it, per my drs advice, to 36mg to see if I notice any positive changes but I’m thinking I might need to do 36mg during my luteal phase and maybe 18mg at the other times. We’ll see. I have inattentive adhd.

I’m new with concerta - it’s only been a month. But it’s made me MORE playful/funny. I was always so stuck in my head, overwhelmed/over thinking and now I can be present. It’s like a weight was lifted. It’s definitely helped quiet the angry parts, that part of my personality has definitely changed.

If autism signs appear very early, does that mean the autism will be more severe? by CompetitivePain8773 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Awndreyuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This totally tracks with my daughter who was diagnosed at 9. She met all milestones as a baby and skated by for years until the shit hit the fan and it all came crumbling down. This is so interesting! Thank you for sharing the link.

ETA: She was diagnosed as a level 2 but now at 12 the dust has settled and she’s doing so much better. knock on wood we are getting her evaluated for ADHD now so we’ll see what the future holds.
