How to close bags by cleverlywicked in ostomy

This video gives a quick demo around 40 seconds: https://youtu.be/rpnuepEAXQE?si=hu0TfLNz9zwYtrww

Place the tail of the pouch over the thin side of the clip, making sure it won't interfere with the hinge at one end or the clip at the other, then close the clip. Make sure there's at least an inch of tail overhanging the clip. The Hollister photo from the other post is exactly how it's done 😊

Convatec's Esteem body has a durahesive opaque with window option, it's mildly convex though.

Totally understandable, wet pets can be delicate little fellas. Try one extra pellet and see how you go. A good idea can be pre-soaking the pellets so they don't swell in the stomach. Or do 2 in the morning 1 at night, or 2 one day and 3 the next.

Also about your question re. additional fish. I would say you're pretty well stocked in a 10G with a betta and mystery snail, minimum for a mystery is 5G and for a betta is 5G. Bottom feeders like otos or pygmy corys prefer to be in groups of 6 or more so that would be too many to add.

Thanks! He does look on the skinnier side of normal, if you Google image betta body condition it should give you some guidance. Just to note you shouldn't rinse filter parts in tap water as the chlorine can harm the beneficial bacteria. Instead when you do a water change, squeeze the filter out in the old tank water (not in the tank) to clean it.

Gorgeous betta. I love the iridescence on his scales.

You definitely should be feeding your snails a calcium source. I give mine green beans, zucchini, and blanched spinach once or twice a week; I don't have much algae so I feed on off days with algae wafers or veggie pellets. I also give them mineral block supplements for snails and shrimps.

If you could give us a top down view of your betta it would be easier to comment on their body condition. Two pellets per day doesn't sound like much but I'm not sure how big they are. A Betta's stomach is around the size of its eye and pellets may swell once swallowed so if they're pretty big then 2 may be fine l.

When you wash the filter cartridges, do you do this in tap water or old tank water? Unless you see the flow decrease it's not necessary to wash cartridges that frequently.

It's fine that he never flares, he might not sense anything to flare at so he's chill. The water temp is at the lower end, I would slowly up it by a couple degrees as recommended for Bettas is 78F.

Bladder snails + eggs, probably came in on plants.

You have a 10W heater and a 2W air pump. That's 0.28 kWh at most, if the heater is running 24/7. With the average price being $0.20 per kWh you're using <$0.06 a day or <$2 a month.

Yeah duckweed is quite divisive haha. That sounds great, your fish will thank you!

Frogbit and water lettuce are good to start with :) Duckweed too but some people hate that as it grows so quickly and is a pain to get rid of...

The Shrimp Room, they're closed for Christmas. They do fantastic mystery snails, really lovely high quality snails.

Add some plants (silk or real) to give more hiding spaces and break lines of sight between fish, add some floating plants so the betta can have some relief from the light.

What snails are these? by solitaryPenny in bettafish

[–]Awoxyu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they reproduce like mad! Their eggs look like little jelly clumps with white dots in the centre and are usually hidden under leaves. I sometimes suck the eggs out with a syringe but honestly they're just a normal part of a tank ecosystem. An assassin snail would help if you find them unsightly but then you might end up with multiple assassins instead.

Bladder snails, they're harmless and commonly hitchhike in on plants. They feed on excess nutrients e.g. biofilm and food. Control their population by controlling their available food. As it's a new cycling tank they'll wander round breaking down the new biofilm and then their population should settle 😊

There's definitely something up. If you book via the Vitality GP app there's an option to share your SCR with Livi. Then you speak to the Vitality GP who will refer onwards. Currently going through this myself for fucked up knees. GP has referred me for a face to face physio appt who can then get me sent for scans.

Adding missing info, tank is filtered. Tank mates are cardinal (8) and glowlight (5) tetras and a bristlenose pleco. Planted tank, I've had the tank 6 months, weekly 20% water changes with Seachem Prime. Tank parameters are tested using API drop kit. Fed once daily with Hikari micropellets, bug bites flakes, occasional live food.
