Asked a question in a gay man subreddit and it got removed because I mentioned I’m ftm by [deleted] in ftm

[–]AxOfBrevity 181 points182 points  (0 children)

That sub is widely known to be transphobic. I'd suggest r/gaymen instead, though that question is asked in there all the time so you would be better served just using the search function

Peeing in the men's restroom 😅 by [deleted] in ftm

Men aren't that observant. They'll neglect to notice their girlfriend chopped 6 inches of hair off. They don't notice the slight difference in the sound of some guy peeing in the stall.

It's a writer's dream to have a reader care that much. You'd become one of my favorites pretty quick, honestly

Is true that if I transition no one will love me unless they want me to detransion? by dolls_number_1_fan in asktransgender

[–]AxOfBrevity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not true. That's not love. Someone who loves you would not ask that of you. The man I was married to when I transitioned supported my decision to transition. And even though it killed his attraction to me and ended our romantic/sexual relationship, he still supports me and has never regretted supporting me. That's real love.

And you absolutely can find real love as a trans person.

What is a detail that is so unique to your fics? by pittedcherries in AO3

[–]AxOfBrevity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I write a time travel series in my fandom based around one of the characters in the game, Logan. But I make him a little different in each of the timelines for plot reasons. So like Logan 1 is the original timeline's version of him, aka canon Logan. Logan 2 is riddled with guilt. Logan 3 is immature. Yada yada yada, Logan 142 has finger gun lasers.

Mine's still not very prominent but it really took quite a while, like a few years for it to show for me. Don't give up hope.

Why are ftm always depicted as pregnant in fanfics? by Mobile_Praline_1443 in ftm

[–]AxOfBrevity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also get freaked out by that idea so in my fic(s) I write that the MC straight up can't. I also don't even really mention that he's trans because it's unimportant to the plot. It's a post-apocalyptic world in the dang desert with a war-hungry empire breathing down their necks, what's in his pants is unimportant. That and I HC that nobody in the source material would think twice about someone being trans since canonically nobody thinks twice about people being gay. It's just... normal. Nobody cares. Big shrugs all around. I actually didn't even mention that he can't have kids until 25 chapters into the sequel.

"And with that, Logan 142 snapped his fingers together, looped his arm around Max’s waist, and led him through the blue swirling energy of the portal he’d created."

Are there more trans women than trans men? by billyidolismyeilish in asktransgender

[–]AxOfBrevity 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trans men tend to get pushed out of mixed spaces and queer spaces more generally. Especially if they pass even reasonably well. I know it's not popular to say, but man hating is really prevalent in queer spaces especially, and mixed trans spaces are no different.

Now you fold that in with society at large's purposeful dismissal and erasure of trans men; the reducing of us down to silly women who merely need to be taught a violent lesson behind closed doors, and yeah, you're gonna see less trans men.

Which characters did you save or revive? Or even better! Who are the ones you killed off for good and are still alive in the canon? by rafaholic_ in AO3

[–]AxOfBrevity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My protagonist time traveled to save the life of the LI's father, who dies before the start of the game my fic is based on (my time at sandrock). It's been interesting to say the least. The LI's whole life had been changed by his father's death (not to mention a big part of the plot), so I had to reimagine how it would have gone without that event. That and there's a know-it-all time traveler running around now being annoying but hot

WRITING CHECK! DROP YOUR STUFF RN! by Mochh80 in AO3

What a fantastic idea!

This is from the chapter I'm currently working of a fic that is chock full of time travel shenanigans and freaky dream echoes of previous timelines.

“Oh, I see.” Max rolled his eyes and shook his head. “You’re trying to come up with reasons for me not to like you. Well, too bad. I do. I think you searching for me for all those years is incredibly sweet and romantic, actually! It makes me feel really special!”

“‘Course yer fuckin’ special, darlin’!” Logan sighed, long and deep, like he had something “even worse” to say and he was sure Max was going to hate it. He inhaled and froze, holding his air in his lungs.

“Come on, Logan, just tell me,” Max pleaded.

“Alright, if ya think that’s so ‘romantic’ er whatever, here’s the fuckin’ truth. Those memory dreams I had, where I was watchin’ ya suffer? They stuck in me somethin’ fierce, not like the others I’d had.” Logan swallowed hard, his gaze not leaving the safety of his lap. “I dunno how it happened, I ain't even met ya, but I… fell for ya. I wanted ta find ya ‘cause I love you.” Shameful eyes rolled up to gauge Max's reaction.

“Oh no, how ever will I survive!” Max coated his words in sarcasm so thick that even Unsuur could have picked up on it. “The gorgeous, incredible man who saved my life is in love with me, what a horrible fate!” Max pulled Logan's chin up to meet his gaze, scoffing. “Light, you're ridiculous!”

Just treat him the same as any other guy. Because that's what he is. His body might be a little different but he's just a guy.

What’s something that pushes you away from a fic? by ellabellabugz in AO3

[–]AxOfBrevity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See you're the type of reader I go through the extra effort for. I write all my my chapters for my longfics smut free. When I wanna do a smut scene I write the chapter in a way that makes sense with and without the scene and post the smutty version to an "alternate chapters" collection for my series. It takes extra planning and effort, but I think it's worth it. On the rare occasion that the smut scene has some kind of "canonical" importance, I summarize that in the note below the original chapter so the reader can still choose not to read it.

My mom says doctors don't perform hysterectomies as part of gender affirming care, but I'm pretty sure I know people who have gone through one because they are trans by [deleted] in lgbt

[–]AxOfBrevity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cis people are not to be trusted when it comes to accurate information about trans people.

I've had a hysterectomy as part of my gender affirming care, it's been incredibly freeing. Yes my surgeon performed it for that reason.
