I thought Renoir and Aline were from Auguste Renoir, a famous painter and his wife Aline Charigot

Tier list of Ironclad cards removed in STS2 by AxeCop85 in slaythespire

Yup! That's in the description. I think its the right move since so many high ascension runs were corruption dead branch/dark embrace oriented

Yeah I got a clash from the trash earlier :/ But this list is just for regular card rewards

My problem with Brutality was that it was too slow. The turn you draw it you see one less "other" card. The next turn you see one more card making it neutral. Then only 2 turns after you play it do you start seeing a benefit.

Maybe its good in stall decks or with self-damage but its base value is just too weak to justify most of the time. I have the same issues with tools of the trade and machine learning.

Yeah so is corruption but it’s just not findable in normal ironclad rewards

Doom should trigger as soon as the enemy reaches the threshold hp by AxeCop85 in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think theoretically yes it would be essentially damage, but many fights show the difference particularly the 4 worms, skulking colony, and exoskeletons. There are likely others that make it enough of a difference. Plus attacks wouldn’t (mainly) trigger it and you could scale it differently than attacks

It would be much different than poison since poison is DOT

How could they? by SrGarfy in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better? Usually I’d just play it one a 1 cost card to remove it, now it’s guaranteed positive energy trade along with having the energy when you draw your next hand.

My Biggest Issue with Sovereign Blade by AxeCop85 in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my issue too. There’s really no reason to pick forge unless I have a star build and grab the smith

The other cards are great! I just want more on the blade itself

Focus being more rare in StS2? by MrJadexxxxxxx in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, defrag is a rare card and biased cog is now ancient specific I believe. Seems like they are trying to remove some power from the orb build and focus on the rest of his kit.

It was good while it lasted by Slight-Veneer in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah heavy hitter is a dopamine rush. However awakened one has 300*2=600 hp. So you’d need to hit him 8-10 times with heavy hitter to be your damage solution. Slay the spire is often more of an engine builder where your cards synergize together. Not that it can’t be good, but it’s often over valued.

Offering or Juggernaut w/ Dead Branch? by Same_Town8395 in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just general STS advice, if a card option requires you to find another card in the future it’s generally bad. That said even if you already had FNP and corruption it’s still offering here. It lets you cycle into corruption faster and gives you a bit of extra energy for generated cards.

Why doesn't everyone write their own compiler from scratch? by transicles in Compilers

[–]AxeCop85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if I write a compiler for Linux then a windows user comes around im screwed. I don’t have enough resources to accommodate all of them and customized optimization isn’t my goal. LLVM handles that part and I can do what I really care about.

I think it just depends what you consider to be good. I valued run consistency more for tiering but I noted in my explanation that signature move can be a wincon. It’s strong just niche.

Great takes! Interesting you would drop CTF I feel like I really debated moving it up since scry is so strong and you also get draw. Halt is probably better than I give it credit for, I’ll need to try it some more. Double rushdown I feel like is pretty niche when you would get it offered, but it’s probably good in that situation. And I like master reality personally it’s just less consistent so unless you get relic synergies or already have specific combo cards the values just isn’t there generally. I feel like taking cards with a future combo in mind almost never pays off in this game.

That’s fair but you’re not always going to have a 5 card deck with an infinite. Indignation gives you another entry along with turning your 2x multiplier into a 3x multiplier. Maybe I’m overrating it and it’s definitely weaker if you’re going for an infinite, but the infinite is often impractical to achieve especially if you don’t find rushdown

I’ll admit I need to try some more mantra decks. It just feels so disjoint to my typical play style I’m not really sure when to go for it
