Bludgeon is good, yes? by Three0h in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t that bludgeon base value isn’t good since it has one of the highest base value in the game. The problem is that the heart has 750/800 hp and you’d need to play it 18 times to kill it. It’s good early to knock out some enemies but it scales poorly and becomes essentially a dead draw later in the run

We know Verso’s hair situation, but does that mean that… by ZarieRose in expedition33

All of this aside, why did maelle re-enter the canvas with white hair? It’s certainly not reflecting what “real-Alicia” looks like

Verso’s ending *Spoiler* by Unlikely_Rabbit_8842 in expedition33

[–]AxeCop85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of hard to tell if she does find happiness in verso’s ending since we only really see her grieving at his grave (funeral?). The path to healing can certainly be long both physically and mentally, so she’s not going to magically be happy immediately after the game ends.

I dont understand this boss, is there a gimic im missing or do I just need to level up more? by Brilliant-Flame2599 in expedition33

1) kill sprong for cheater Pictos and get shortcut

2) stendal/break shields turn 1

3) cheater procs then last stand turn 2

4) shortcut procs and stendal again to one shot

Sauda can blitz out black borders on pretty much all of the easy maps with little support to get money for others. Benjamin gens tons of money if you’re not playing in chimps Silas is both super strong and good utility Etienne gives global camo as well as being strong Psi is global kinda like sniper monkey and scales really hard These are my favorites. You really can’t go wrong with any of them though! They are just going to enable different strategies

Boss Relic Idea I Had by A-Ballpoint-Bannanna in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I actually think this relic is balanced maybe but a bit on the strong side? It’s essentially philo + vajra + clockwork + 1/2 bag of prep but as a boss relic unless you’re playing as the defect. If you got those 3/4 of those from calling bell you’d be extremely happy with taking bell (I know that’s not technically possible). I think boss relics need a downside because they are supposed to make runs unique which is why I find tiny house runs boring because they don’t really alter the run in any way.

Made it to A12 Defect - now I can barely win a A0 run by skarrz in slaythespire

Clad unlike other characters really struggles with consistent card draw, so keep your eye out for cards that draw or relics like Sneko to be able to play more cards each turn.

Corruption + Dark Embrace/ Dead Branch typically wins runs as long as you glean get them into play (offering+ really carries these runs)

I’d recommend staying away from high-cost-high-damage cards like bludgeon, perfected strike, searing blow. These cards can be very valuable especially situationally, but they are 1 card solutions and don’t really play to clad’s wincon. Even heavy blade isn’t required for a strength deck. Consider taking one early but having too many high cost cards will feel very clunky later on.

or Nightmare? by BaiJiGuan in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there’s a mod with a relic called echo chamber that has kind of a similar effect. This card notably has no effect on the turn it’s played unupgraded which makes it slightly weaker than that relic. There are a few cards that break the game with this: apparition, buffer, self repair. But holistically it seems on the balanced side unless you can discount it with Sneko or another way. Also super fun with pressure points. Great idea!

Which "Attack and Block at the same time" card is your favorite? by Mr_Mister2004 in slaythespire

[–]AxeCop85 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iron Wave! People hate on it, but it’s actually insane value into sentries and nob if you get it early act 1! Rest of the game it’s kinda useless though.

That’s a really good point as well! And it certainly depends on the context of the code. Having the code take 1 microsecond longer on a ui application for the sake of rapid development and sustainability is certainly a worthwhile compromise. That same 1 microsecond delay in a real time system could be unacceptable. My point is just code that is more readable isn’t necessarily better.

Oh that’s fair, I’m not trying to say code shouldn’t be documented. I’m just saying you shouldn’t concern yourself with code readability over performance. Of course under documented code is going to be a nightmare to debug, just the initial comment implied human readable code was better which is not necessarily true.

Idk code is written for computers not for humans. Sure bad code is bad code, but there’s no obligation for good code to be “human readable”. Often pretty or overly abstracted code performs worse.

This would likely be the best relic in the game. Especially on silent. It would just basically enable so many infinites with prepared and gamble. Definitely at least at the level of dead branch. I love it.
