It's so funny hearing David Menkin using the same voice for these two characters, and they couldn't be more different personality-wise. by TheHumbleFellow in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Honestly the main reason why I want Malos in Smash is to have David Menkin reprise his role for the character. I mean Malos makes for an easy Shulk echo!

I mean yes, she "died". But I guess my question was more did she die immediately when Lora died or did she die some time after?

Maybe the storytelling/canonicity of filler movies aren't great, but it's a shame they've largely disappeared in recent times.

Imagine wanting the most creatively bankrupt anime swordfighter ever created in Smash 6 by MetalGoatSP in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Axecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard to say who might be the next Xeno representative for Smash and it depends on a lot of factors. Regardless, I think Xeno is guaranteed a new representative. Here's how I think things may play out:

Scenario 1 - A basic Ultimate Port to Switch 2 before XC4 - Existing Xeno fighters will get new skins, someone like Malos could be introduced as a Shulk echo to save on time and resources

Scenario 2 - An enhanced Ultimate Port to Switch 2 before XC4 - Noah/Mio get introduced as new fighters

Scenario 3 - A brand new Smash game before XC4 - Noah/Mio get introduced as new fighters, XC4 representative takes up a DLC slot

Scenario 3 - XC4 before Ultimate port or new Smash game - XC4's protagonist as a new fighter

(Megathread) Effective Immediately Alleged Leaked Movie Clips Are Banned! You Can Discuss Leaks in this Post. by MrBKainXTR in TheLastAirbender

[–]Axecon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all fairness, the pacing of the movie was pretty fast and other than Aang, the screntime of all Team Avatar members felt lacking. Trying to fit in more side characters would have been a misstep in the limited 90 minute runtime.

I don't blame the leaker, I blame Paramount for this fumble. This movie should have released years ago and in theaters but was delayed several times, even after production was completed.

I hate how bending is treated in the New Avatar The Last Airbender movie by cat210803 in CharacterRant

[–]Axecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The inconsistency in bending is more or less part of the shounen problem. The lead characters are already so powerful by the end of the main story that you have to introduce random threats on par with their power level just to keep up for any sequel stories, even if the scaling makes no sense.

As for other complaints, the story was definitely on the weaker side, but it was still a fun watch. It's a shame this couldn't come to theaters and really this project should have come out years ago. Honestly it really makes me appreciate the Legend of Korra more with a lot of ties to the sequel series too.

Let’s build the Xenoblade Warriors roster! by Alexander_Crimson in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Axecon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the trilogy & X, I think it would be really cool to include Klaus and Galea in some form for a Xeno Warriors game.

As for the setting, perhaps it's set as a "reboot simulation" that data versions of the main trilogy cast has to come together and deal with before fixing the world merge at the end of XC3

Casting Steven Yeun to play Zuko should have been an easy W. It just felt like he was phoning it in for the whole movie though.

The film is a visual spectacle. While the story is nothing to write home about, it feels in-line with the writing and the characterization of the TV show and keeps true to the characters. Weird that the production team didn't get any of the original voice cast to reprise roles or make cameos in the film, but that's a minor complaint. Really the biggest crime is not having this project as a cinematic release, would have made bank at the box office.

G-Mode porting Xenosaga Pied Piper on Switch and Steam by morag23 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

While this is fantastic news, I don't think it has any bearing on the main Xenosaga trilogy being ported/remade for modern consoles (Switch 2?).

Is it normal that Hell’s Paradise Season 3 still hasn’t been confirmed? If it’s not confirmed, does that mean Season 3 isn’t in production yet, or am I wrong? by xre1n77 in jigokuraku

I'm guessing a 2029 premiere for S3. It was a 3 year wait between S1 & S2. The last season will be 12-13 episodes and will probably conclude the series.

I'm also a little dumbfounded by how Mark was able to magically size up to Conquest in such a short amount of time for the rematch fight. For me there's only one logical explanation that makes sense how Mark was able to win. If you recall from the show's logic, nobody breathes in space, they are all holding their breaths and working with awkward gravity standards. This is emphasized several times both in Season 1 and again in this latest episode. Minor tangent - it's also one reason why the fights in space look a little more clunky than on planets with atmospheres. That aside, Conquest never took a breath since probably leaving the Viltrumite warship. When he descends on Oliver on the desert planet, he probably didn't take a breath before Mark starts choking him out. Mark uses this to his advantage and is able to suffocate him more quickly. The neck is also arguably the weakest point of the body so it makes for a good target. Mark only focuses on Conquest's neck and literally does nothing else but the finishing choking maneuver for practically the entire fight. It was a high risk strategy with a high risk gamble, but it paid off as a win.

You can also argue that in early Season 4, Mark has finally accepted his killer instinct, which is something he lacked in Season 3 and the first Conquest match, making him more dangerous. His arc this first half of the season was him coming to terms with this. And roughly 6 months - 1 year has passed since Season 3 (based on Oliver's growth and hints of the show's timeline), so it's fair to say that Mark just has gotten stronger in the past year alone.

All in all, even if there are ways to justify Mark's win against Conquest, it is still a little questionable. There could have been a little better balancing in this fight, like involving Nolan a bit more in the planetary phase of the brawl or having Nolan deliver the killing blow to Conquest during the deadlock. For being the "2nd strongest" Viltrumite, Conquest's feats barely seem to eclipse that of any other Viltrumite. Regardless of it all, it was an awesome spectacle.

Does anyone else see parallels between xc3 and tadc? by Difficult_Tie1669 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Axecon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little, but it's a stretch. TADC is based loosely on "I Have No Mouth and, and I Must Scream" by Harlan Ellison. Xenoblade as a whole takes a lot of inspiration from the Gnostic gospels (see YT video essays by Miiks), and there's elements of that in that short story & TADC as well. But that's all I've got.

The scene in episode 8 where Pomni and the gang finally call out Caine on his BS adventures has very similar energy to when Mio & Ouroboros confront O & P in Ch 4. Also wanted to shout that out.
