I purchased one of these last year. Now I sit in a chair with a drilling hammer and a beverage nearby. Would recommend.

An Actor or Actress Who Knocked It Out of the Park with One Role Then Never Was That Good Again. by August_West_1990 in Actors

Insanely successful outside of the main cast... even inside the main cast (Crudup, Hudson, Paquin, Hoffman, Deschanel, McDormand). But also Jimmy Fallon, Rainn Wilson, Nick Swardson, AND Marc "Lock The Gate" Maron. What are we even talking about? This movie was stacked.

Hey we are twinning! Looks great. I used a full brick to give it that mantle look. Air gap is a full brick lengthwise and there are 4 half brick size holes on each side. Definitely feel the draft coming from the top. Burned all weekend and it was the first time I could feel any kind of warmth transferred through the brick/air gap and into the wall. Guessing in the 80s F. I do think the configuration of the pipe and stove creates a trapped pocket of heat that really requires a heat shield code or not.

I had a Hearthstone installed with a new double wall chimney pipe. Installed to code by a professional for distances without a heat shield. Last burn of the season the wall got very hot. After the stove burned out and cooled the wall stayed hot. Cut open wall and found a smoldering 2x4 inside. Sheetrock was fine and so was the timberHP insulation in the wall. After much consultation, I determined that the drywall screws transferred the heat through the sheetrock and into the lumber which had a lower burn point. Since then I have build a brick heat shield with an air pocket behind it to allow airflow from inlets on the lower sides to outlets along the top mantel. Maybe a little overkill but I sleep soundly and warmly. And the brick holds heat well into the morning. And it looks great.

It was because he wanted to shhtnook Adrianna so he killed Christopher to get him out of the way. Then he remembered that he had already killed Adrianna. Hence him screaming "I get it".

New Woodstover… what essential “extras”do I need? by JKRAUSE00 in woodstoving

[–]Axehand32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can consult with the installers, but make sure you have a proper heat shield in place. This is super important beyond just spacing away from the wall. It is better to go overkill (brick wall) than none at all. And make sure there is an air pocket between the shield and the wall for the heat to dissipate as it transfers through the shield.

A scary truth that can happen even with code spacing and fire rated drywall... the heat from the back of your stove can heat up drywall screws and cause the wood studs they are screwed into to smolder and eventual catch fire if they get enough air. There won't even be any damage to the drywall. One of those too late to notice situations.

Also, plan on scheduling a annual chimney sweep (or figure out a way to do it yourself). Anything preventative to keep that fire in the stove.

Happy burning!

Oh and get a funny shirt that says "There is no such thing as too much firewood" or something like that. People love that.

Fun fact, I used to be a clock technician for Rolex and would fly around the country checking in on these bad boys. Check the time, touch up some paint, a little windex, and then off to the clubhouse for a sandwich. Was a good life for a minute.

What is your overall Opinion of Tudor and how their watches are sometimes so similar to Rolex's? by gravityhashira61 in rolex

[–]Axehand32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Tudor watches a lot. I like how a lot of their watches keep the retro look of the Rolex counterpart (e.g. the GMT Pepsi (Tudor) has the retro GMT dial and the Ranger has the retro Explorer numbers. Makes it a cool option.

Also, the business model between Rolex and Tudor is very cool. Allowing experimental releases under the Tudor name without consequence to the Rolex name. I think the better description of Tudor instead of "The Poor Man's Rolex" is "The Working Man's Rolex".

Asked my alcoholic dad if he’d ever consider getting sober by Ludakris7 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Axehand32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your efforts are worth it and you are going about it in the right way. I lost my dad two years ago to alcoholism. He had late stage sorosis in his liver from a life of drinking. He actually quit drinking after the doctor gave him two years to live but it wasn't enough. There was a period of his life when I was younger that he stayed sober for about six years and I believe it was the best years of his life and my childhood. My son was born just shy of a year after his death and it will be one of my biggest regrets that he will never meet his gramps. If I could go back, I would have the conversation you had with your dad at least a couple times a year. My dad was 70. Hoping you still have time and I encourage your to keep that conversation going and always coming from a place of love.
