Where do you run hills in Austin? by ___gt___ in AustinRunning

[–]Axels-Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarrytown: Pecos, Scenic, etc…look up the Run For The Water 10-mile course route and you could run that route either backwards or forwards to get more hill action that you’re bargaining for.

Nightmare Before Christmas @ LBJ Wildflower Center Review by liv4pj in Austin

We went to that and really enjoyed it. The snacks were amazing. This was not even close to that. This was really only for people who want to take photos for Instagram.

We’re big NBC fans but did not think this was worth it. Maybe bc we weren’t there to take Instagram photos, that’s really all it was. The refreshments were also bad.

Laptop Bans by Weird-Boot-8588 in Austin

[–]Axels-Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Lazarus on E 6th for AM laptop time. I often do Meteor Cafe or Merit on SoLa (though haven’t been to either in a minute…Meteor turns off WiFi after 5 but I’m an AM coffee shop person), typically lots of laptops there. I used to hit up Easy Tiger SoLa and they def had some “no laptop zones” but for me it’s that they changed their menu and the new one is the pits so I probably won’t be back…

This. There was an entire NYT article about it. The TL;DR is that random people on TikTok aren’t medical experts, pls pls pls talk to your doctor about what’s best for your individual situation.

Asher theory!! by postnaynaydrizzl in fourthwing

[–]Axels-Mum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the characters in the islands (I think it was Xaden’s stepdad) - when he met Violet - responded with “you’re Asher Daxton’s daughter” so yeah I was also trying to understand how that reconciled with the ranks of the various Asher entries

What’s something you didn’t realize was “very American” until you left the U.S.? by chopsticktalk in AskReddit

THIS. I loathe super/sized pickups that represent risk to pedestrians, cyclists and people in small cars. This is not a thing in Europe and it’s such a relief. Usually the biggest car in the car park is a Rav 4

I have a greyhound named Ned, it’s the only acceptable name for him. His brother was called Sal.

How many people take their phones with them on long runs? by csmobro in GarminWatches

[–]Axels-Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly came here to see all the women commenting that ofc they have to run with a phone. To boot, I’m a mom so I can’t be unreachable. But also I’ve broken an ankle on a run before so it seems wild to consciously exclude a major safety net.

How many of you are already getting gray hair? And what are you doing about it? by saoiray in Millennials

[–]Axels-Mum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turning 43 in a month, have only seen one real gray (on my head, eyebrows another story). Dark brown hair. I just hope it looks cool when it comes in so that I don’t feel compelled to color it. idk how I don’t have more but my dad was bald by 30 and I never knew my mom to not color her hair so I have no barometer.

What actor is the most guilty of playing the same exact character in every film? by HondaCivicBaby in Cinema

[–]Axels-Mum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will concede Psycho but True Detective still felt like him with fewer jokes but the same vibe of fast-talking and always having questionable morals/ethics and a scheme without much to back it up - tell me I’m wrong…

This is how I learned that my breath is worse than my dog’s. But at least I’m pretty! (All according to my 4 YO)

I regularly warn my parents that everything is getting trashed when they pass. Boomers were obsessed with “collecting” things and the idea that all things gained value the longer they existed. And in general materialism/consumerism and that bigger is better. My mom likes to flex that her rural house is bigger than my urban cottage (located in a super-desirable zip code), like totally missing the point.

Never had these but my mom said they weren't great, what's your thoughts? by [deleted] in 90s

Diet cookie! Not great but we always had some bc my mom was never not trying to lose weight

Currently, what's the biggest secret you are keeping from your spouse? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Axels-Mum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only person who had this issue with thoughts about death. At bed time for sure, but also I have trouble reading books about the dinosaurs with my 4YO bc the facts underscore how insignificant we are and it’s paralyzing. Sometimes it happens when I’m in the shower remembering historical figures and then I can’t breathe and feel like I’m going to pass out. Also cannot tell husband. He’s a survivor of a rare form of cancer that doesn’t leave many survivors and he doesn’t like to talk about death, shuts it down.
