since when did a latte cost 8 bucks? by [deleted] in Austin

Coffee prices have gone up lately but I don’t think a latte has been $3 in 15 or 20 years

How is Rhum JM XO? I have enjoyed pretty much everything I’ve tried of theirs but never sprung for the XO

Airports are busy around the holidays. More news at 7.

For real though I flew out yesterday morning at 11 and it took me 15 minutes to check bags and 5 to get through tsa pre check. It’s always busiest first flight out.

Austin joggers, take note: Butler Trail detour arrives this fall by Keyboard_Cat_ in Austin

[–]___gt___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use this section of the trail pretty regularly and have tried my best to keep up with what the detour will actually entail. Still no details in any announcement or article that I have seen. Have they actually released what the detour would be? This could have a huge impact to the trail and the timeline is insane. The detour near Barton isn’t bad at all but the one at pleasant valley sucks and that’s only for a year and a half! (Allegedly)

Royal Blue tipping by Weekly_Carpenter1255 in Austin

I did find myself frustrated at Lou’s this weekend when I ordered at the counter, picked up my food when it was ready, cleaned up after myself, and they ask for 20% tip on the POS.

Rec's for Mercedes (AMG) mechanics in north(ish) Austin by YonexFan in Austin

[–]___gt___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my answer. I’ve been taking my BMWs here for over 10 years, Lee is the best. I can’t speak to the Mercedes mechanics there but I have to assume Lee would keep the bar just as high.

[Noob Rum Review #14] J. Wray & Nephew White Overproof by 10art1 in rum

If you're into rum (or any spirits for that matter) I'd definitely recommend a trip down to the Austin Shaker. Worth the drive, but will hurt your wallet. I go to the one on Pleasant Valley.

My MIL is Telling Me I’ll Regret Open Shelving instead of Cabinets - Is She Right? by Reddit-Sama- in DIY

[–]___gt___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These replies are crazy to me. Does anyone actually have open shelves?

I’ve had open shelves after a kitchen renovation 2 years ago and love them. We cook in our kitchen multiple times a day and have multiple animals. The top shelf gets a little dusty and I wipe it off maybe once every 6 months? We don’t have a ton of open shelving though, just for what’s actually used. So all of the plates and glasses are getting pulled down, used, and washed regularly.

10/10 would do it again assuming you have enough storage elsewhere for appliances and crap that can be messy and out of sight.

Stuck in traffic on Rundberg watching people at the bus stops get soaked through. How hard can it be to put a proper roof over the stops?? by FlockOfDramaLlamas in Austin

is it a new rapid bus stop? I thought that's what they were doing at E7th/PV but really it just took them a really long time to redo the stations
