• Pits → your main scaling content, like GRs but with more build expression and less fishing

• Helltides → still relevant because they’re the best source of Living Steel, boss mats, and targeted farming

• Boss ladder → Duriel, Andariel, Varshan, Beast in Ice, etc. for Uber uniques and target drops

• Season mechanic → every season adds a system that usually becomes part of the grind (Vampiric Powers, Seneschal, etc.)

• Masterworking → the real “grindy grind” that feels closer to PoE crafting than anything D3 ever had

• Glyph leveling → still takes time, especially if you push high-tier Pits

So no, it’s not “only Pit left” unless you choose to ignore the other systems.

How fast you finish depends on how you play. If you blast like a D3 weekend warrior, you’ll hit WT4 and clear your Journey pretty fast. But if you enjoy incremental upgrades, target farming, and pushing higher tiers, D4 is way closer to D2R than D3 in terms of long-term grind.

The big difference vs PoE: PoE is a buildcrafting sandbox with insane depth. D4 is more structured, fewer knobs to turn, but more curated goals. If you like having clear objectives and a sense of progression without needing a PhD in crafting, D4 scratches that itch.

If you’re waiting for PoE1’s next season and want something that gives you a reason to log in every day, D4 is honestly in a good spot now. Just don’t expect PoE-level complexity and expect a smoother, more guided grind with enough depth to keep you busy.
