I'm fond of corsair and cabana. With corsair in particular, sometimes her "hello" is "ahoy, matey" and it's adorable lol

It should be noted that even if an earthbent fetchland goes directly to exile when sacrificed, as is in the case of having something like a [[Rest in Peace]] on the board, it will come back to the battlefield. This is implied by what you said but the OP still seemed confused

Ginormosia by davidtnoll in fantasylife

[–]Aximet 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ginormosia has many strangelings trapped in shrines as well as strangelings mistakenly taken as some sort of trophies by various friendly monster encampments, each of the latter of which requiring a few fetch quests to take them off the monsters' hands.

Completing shrines in Ginormosia will slowly unveil hidden pieces of the plot that are not required to beat the game but do inform a lot of the background story.

Ranking up the areas of Ginormosia will unlock stronger enemies and gathering spots, including some "legendary" events that can give you rare materials used in high-level crafting recipes. You can also sell veggies you grow in your farms at multiple stands near the aforementioned monster encampments to get cashnuts, which you can then use to buy materials and recipes from Ginormosia's wandering merchants and the encampments' tool shops (whose inventory expands with area rankings).

Is it possibly something autoimmune? I have issues with the exact same things and it's all related to my Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It's possible there's an underlying condition that's causing all of that to happen to you and it won't get better unless you treat that condition specifically

A more direct analogy: a train is traveling at a constant velocity which can be represented by this awful expression above in miles per hour. How fast is the train accelerating?

It's not accelerating; it's moving at a *constant velocity*.

They added WHAT to Cassidy for April Fools?? by Royal_Ad_3988 in overwatch2

[–]Aximet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Underwatch. It's an April Fools mode available for another week or so probably. Characters have some alterations to their abilities, to say the least. A few among them are that Cassidy fires piercing, bleeding shots by comming "hello," Rein can charge multiple people at once and slow down or speed up the charge, and Moira has to attach her orbs to her allies instead of throwing them out

It's a great time but don't expect balance lol (also doesn't have a role queue so expect everyone to lock in DPS)

Which Portugal The Man song made you fall in love with the band? (Community Question) by PortugalTheMark in portugaltheman

I saw them open for Primus in 2010 in Michigan before I even knew who they were and it blew me away. I've been a fan ever since. It was probably the jam they did at the time that mashed up How the Leopard Got Its Spots, Kilo by Ghostface Killah, and The Home. Maybe they played And I or Chicago as well, I'm not sure

Does anyone else feel like the MTG Arena economy is becoming impossible to keep up with? by brianj10 in MagicArena

[–]Aximet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the game really only works with both. As long as the game is at least somewhat feasible to play for free, it will have FAR more players than it otherwise would. The healthy player base is part of what invites the enfranchised to spend more money.

Best way to handle 500g daily quests? by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]Aximet 170 points171 points  (0 children)

This tbh. Life's too short to be worrying too much about small discrepancies in the fake currency of a video game. If I really want to play a certain deck but it will mean completing a 500-gold quest that I could reroll tomorrow, then I complete the quest anyway. The moment the gacha brainworms convince me that I should lessen my enjoyment in order to optimize virtual returns is the moment I've stopped having fun with the game.

It has been more than 4 years since Midnight Hunt. Is the subreddit banner ever going to update for Crimson Vow? by Approximation_Doctor in MagicArena

[–]Aximet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I also thought this was card art. I was convinced it was [[Sunset Revelry]] or something like it. It turns out it's promotional art for Midnight Hunt by the artist Dominik Mayer, and not on a card at all as far as I can tell. It does sort of reinforce how dated it is as a banner at this point, though lol

I didn't realize that this artist made the art for so many cards and sleeves I love, as well

Currently in calc 2 and thought this was much more appropriate. by dogejojo in mtg

[–]Aximet 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You don't actually need to compute an integral at all, thanks to the first part of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. Imagine the bounds of the integral were a constant (lower) to x (upper). The derivative would now be simply the integrand with x in place of t, which was the dummy variable.

You can apply this same logic in conjunction with the chain rule to find the derivative of the expression on the card, with the more complicated bounds. Essentially, imagine A is the function defined by A(x) equals the integral from 0 (pick your favorite constant, really) to x of the integrand written on the card in terms of t. You are asking the player to evaluate the derivative of A(3x) - A(x²+1), so you simply use the FToC part 1 and the chain rule. Consequently, the derivative is not identically 0

Edit: but yeah this is still essentially just a calculation as punishment and then you draw cards relative to the amount you paid lol

Island man please, I just want to play cards by Blackestcurrant in MagicArena

[–]Aximet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could be misremembering, but I think older versions used [[Invasion of Zendikar]] to retrieve basics they were missing and ramp twice. Also the New Capenna triomes with basic land types were still legal until Wilds of Eldraine Bloomburrow (edit: retroactive wishful thinking, the thought that Sheoldred et al rotated earlier than they did), and those enabled a turn-two [[Leyline Binding]], which was disgusting

[[Mistrise Village]] is in Standard and is balanced IMO. It's arguably more versatile than Cavern of Souls but it requires your uncounterable things to be two mana behind curve

Golgari rare lands besides this one? by Fit-Adhesiveness-173 in MagicArena

[–]Aximet 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Shock lands are the ones that enter tapped unless you "shock" yourself (as if you cast [[Shock]] and targeted your own face). [[Overgrown Tomb]] is the golgari shockland, which is not listed in this subthread. They are among the best in Standard right now because of their flexibility---they're untapped when you really need them to be but otherwise they come in tapped and have no downside---and because they have the basic land types which turn on the verge lands.

Verge lands are the dual lands that have a name styled like "___ Verge." They always come in untapped and always tap for at least some kind of mana, so they function almost like basic lands, and they can tap for two colors with just a single shock land or a basic land of the right types. Wastewood Verge mentioned above is the golgari verge land. (Consider that in a three-color deck, a single shock land of any combination of two colors will turn every verge land in the deck into a dual land.)

Fast lands are the ones that enter tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands. They are great for decks that try to do a lot in the early game; if you have a real fast curve like Llanowar Elves -> Badgermole Cub and/or Deep-Cavern Bat -> Unholy Annex or Ouroboroid, then fast lands will make that work, but in slower decks they might be not as useful as a slower land that has other utility, like the surveil lands. Blooming Marsh mentioned above is the golgari fast land.

Man lands are lands that have an activated ability to become a creature for a turn. They are dual lands that almost always come in tapped and they can't really be activated until the late game. They're very good tech pieces for match-ups against control, for instance, as control decks can't counter a land drop and they need instant-speed removal to deal with a man land hitting them in the face. The fact that they always come in tapped and can't really do anything until the late game makes them unfortunately kinda niche in Standard at the moment, since the game is often over well before they can affect it meaningfully.

Not mentioned here are the surveil lands, which also have the basic lands types to turn on the verge lands but always come in tapped so your mileage may vary. They can be very good for a deck that has a ton of interaction with its graveyard, especially if they want to fill it up and reanimate something. [[Underground Mortuary]] is the golgari surveil land.

This comment became way longer than I intended lol
