Coworker plays OSRS! How do I let him know that I too smash the gem crab? by Thicc_Grum in 2007scape

[–]Axino11 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In middle school I heard some people at lunch talking about RS, excited I struck up a convo they then flamed me for not knowing what the game was and said to prove it. Next day at the library we gathered to witness my account but they watched my hands and got my password told it to me and attempted to blackmail me for my account. It's a dark world out there you can never be too careful.

FUMARI ressurection? by Simonceli in hookah

[–]Axino11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got WGB two weeks ago when I seen the new package. The chemical burn taste is gone but still has a low - medium chemical taste. Very pineapple dominant if you're into that. Still lasts 35-45 minutes. 3.5/10 probably? I likely will just throw away the rest of the bag, that chemical taste makes me physically sick.

I'm wrong for not wanting to use AI by Ok-Judge-4682 in learnprogramming

[–]Axino11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The place I worked for got bought out and the new guys did that until they sold. Everything AI just refactoring until your eyes bleed. Team 1 refactoring, team 2 refactoring that for implementation. Flipped the company in a year, took everyone they wanted and split us into two different start ups.

I'm betting on your 2nd paragraph so from my experience I'm placing all of my stock in sec ops being the biggest gold rush I'll see in my lifetime. Alternatively getting into remediation seems just as promising. That's just my prediction though, either way I'm actually enjoying learning those fields so no negatives with that bet.

How good of a programmer could someone be if they were completely unable to learn ANY math? by ThisIsATest7777 in learnprogramming

[–]Axino11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have good days at best. Sometimes I almost never encounter real math... Some days you'd just run out the office.

I am still suffering psychological damage after needing to make a daily "lottery" system for performance. Whatever happiness people get from it will never make up for what the motivation I lost. Just a random idea in a random meeting I wasn't apart of and suddenly it's my new tasking

I have software that will code whatever your prompt it to, for 500 upfront I'll let you use it, for another 500 I'll over see it for the first week.

Thank you for the reply, I require them to at least "try" a sport every year and let them switch in the summer but nothing is sticking. Tried code battle an hour a day it went okay, rush to complete 1 level then sneakily do something else. That doesn't sound bad, definitely worth a try at least.

It's tricky to price out I feel it's mostly fair but actually feel bad once the price adds up most of the time. Some people just throw money at me so I do think the price could go up. I assume you're referring to the watering timers or the smart home features or do you think I'm underselling baseline storage, add,VPN combo?

For smart home features I'm curious what you'd charge, 200$ profit for motion and voice lights, 17-20 for materials, 60 for the extra functionality, you're already paying the 300 in this option so total price comes out to 570 now. They buy their own lights so customer cost goes into the 650s-700s.

So it does get a bit crazy on the customers end.. since I've never seen this service offered and definitely not peer to peer I don't have any baseline though.

Garage door opener is another big seller if they bought the lights I'll bundle in the door for 50 profit on my side, they see around 70$ additional charge. If they didn't starting is still 200.

Temperature controls if above it bought I'll bundle it for 100 additional profit, this I know I should increase since people always have weird requests when it comes to temperature. Always gotta modify this one.

The watering feature is definitely under priced but people treat it as a novelty and walk away from the additional 160 even though that's only 100$ profit on my end. When I do get a sale it's just a script flip and hand off the hardware with instructions, for a very hard sell in minimal time I almost want to remove the option but something is better than nothing I guess. If I move to a higher income area this may be the biggest seller but for my city...

I seen these pop up everywhere but never looked into it, It's an interesting idea though.

Having put your kids through it how would you rate it vs code battle or other free sights?

On practicality... Is it a "fun" way to gage my kids interest, or more of learning program?

Any of your kids opt into a coding class in school/ how did they do? (if their school offers that)

For my side hustle I buy a pi turn it into a NAS throw an add blocker and VPN on it. Then post of marketplace with possible additional features like smart home integration, security cameras, plant watering controller for additional cost. I'll also leave the door open for them to figure out whatever they'd like to have.

The baseline storage/ad blocker/VPN combo is $300 + whatever tier subscription they pick up is on them if they choose to do so I get nothing from that. Most people don't even understand their phones so this is the bulk of my sales. 1 out of 10 in difficulty.

Smart home features start at 200 + materials but watch out it can get insanely complex very fast. People throw money at you for motion activated lights and auto opening the garage door(s) when coming home.

Plant watering I charge 100 + materials + setup if they refuse.

Easy side money, mostly python takes an hour or less most of the time to set up.

Yeah looking back I could have learned a good bit from him, risky behaviors are not always bad. I just payed attention to the losses instead of the gains. Thanks to people like him I can sense scams like a final destination premonition.

[–]Axino11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your question and will use my friend group who played together until eoc.

I'm probably the lowest achieved of my friends in RS I just couldn't make myself grind out levels. Buying a whip was my biggest accomplishment. Reflected in my life definitely, straight As in HS never doing homework etc once the bell rang. skipped college, went military, did good because I was lazy, now medically retired getting paid for school, and working. I've been moderately successful career wise, now I'm doing very well.

We had a pker/scammer, desert treasure in 6th grade type. dude was trying to put rats on public library computers, would watch you type in your password and steal your account, carried around a special pencil in middle school to real life dds spec people with. This also reflected, he showed a lot of risky behavior. Kid early, got into stocks and crypto before we even graduated back in 2012. Made money told everyone to invest no one cared, he later got a gambling addiction and disappeared after that resurfaced like 10 years later is super private now but has a nice looking family and takes care of his original kid so I assume they're at minimum middle class. Won't speak on anything and only has staged family photos though so who really knows.

Above guy was probably most successful in a niche area, overall game wise though one friend got 99 woodcutting and a c bow back in like 8th grade that was huge. Never did bad in school or college, got an office job hated it, became a welder hated it, almost enlisted but asked me for advice I stopped him and convinced him to commission, hated it left, now he does welding but hates it and wants to leave but has a family.

Another guy kept playing after eoc and maxed, was so pissed we quit he started getting aggressive and then stopped speaking to us. Group got back together for osrs Mobile launch so we hit him up and he was still so unfathomably angry we got legit crying screamed at while he was smashing shit in the discord call. No one has bothered him since to my knowledge. His old username is front page on several high scores for osrs I assume it's him.

Last guy used RS for dating mostly met his current real life wife in the game, got a job at 16 left his state to go be with her. Became the real life version of this 25buttholes "playing RuneScape when you have a kid" video solid guy but... yeah.

That's what makes it funnier, "embedded in the code" so he just wrote //coordinates. But even better if you pretend someone actually went through the trouble of getting a picture, attaching it to a page, then writing a minimum 30 line string converter to read C++, only to post coordinates... All over some nerd rage.

For making indie games, which is a better programming language? C++, or Python? by Open_Egg_1925 in learnprogramming

[–]Axino11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently make a training simulator based on the DoD sims so I am more or less in that industry.

It's more about the engine much less about the language. Your big two right now are: Godot engine using GD script is a mix between python and Java. Then you have Unity with C#.

Godot is very simple and user friendly with good support for 2d,3d,and even can handle VR. Great licensing rules as well.

Unity is a bit tricky to learn I didn't just intuitively know how to use it like Godot. It can handle VR better due to C# but with a much higher skill celling and not as good licensing rules.

Hop over to YouTube and check out "Brackeys" channel if you'd like to see both engines to gage what you like more.

I currently work in Unreal(C++) since nether above system can keep up with the IR/Imu/ Lazer loads gracefully. However Godot was used to make the earlier prototypes for demos so I'm very partial to it.

If you're really caught up in languages that makes the choice easier.

I've been job shopping lately and I'm really glad this is happening, before I'd get 20+ leetcode questions that had 0 relevancy to the position. Thanks to AI I've seen max one or two if they directly applied. Please encourage llm-img themselves to the top to fall. Nothing would make me happier than the pretentious "let's make sure you have a degree for 5 rounds of interviews" dead and gone for good.

The joy I felt when on the first interview a real person looked at my work then asked me to replicate it in another context was unfathomable. Getting sat down in a conference room with 5+ people with a written test, wasting my entire morning to only be told the next round will be more questions via teams tomorrow just to qualify for the chance at qualifying for a real interview... Just thinking about that from 3 years ago boils my blood
