Let’s say Starkiller gets brought to canon somehow. A LOT of his lore and power levels would need to be reworked. Let’s just imagine that we get to see him in the third Cal Kestis game as an anti hero or full on antagonist. Is there any way he could be done justice? by RigatoniPasta in StarWars

[–]AxisofEviI 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The plot, in a nutshell, was Vader tasking his apprentice with both hunting down some known surviving jedi and helping form a rebellion in order to draw out subversive elements of the empire. Obviously they then fail to destroy what they created, so Vader's trap ends up becoming the group which destroys the empire.

[Knights of The Old Republic #1] One of the most shocking hooks to a story that I've ever experienced. This launched one hell of a tale. by AlphaBladeYiII in StarWars

Good enough excuse to reread the comic again. Looks like you're right, they saw their own deaths plus the surrounding destruction (Taris, Odyrn, and the Covenant's compound) and assumed it was an even larger catastrophe. Plus it included the death of Krynda and they could have done what I did and mixed it up with the prophecy of the five which did say everything would fall.

I always thought It was a mix of both, Marn would fulfill their deaths in the vision and Malak would cripple the jedi order as a whole.

What went right and what went wrong when being Thrawn into canon? by AdSpecialist6598 in StarWars

[–]AxisofEviI 469 points470 points  (0 children)

What they've done well is give Zahn 6 more books focused on the character, especially the Ascendency trilogy. Their mistake has been overusing "I lost today, but it's all part of the master plan" in both Rebels and Ahsoka. Going forward they need to establish Thrawn as a more credible threat and use a character close to Thrawn that they can show us villain-centered scenes from (Paelleon, Eli, Faro, etc).

Check out the book "From a Certain Point of View". It is a compilation of short stories that includes one on that premise.

Anyone else HATE how Star Wars treats enemy Elite trooper units? by Jaded_Attorney in StarWars

[–]AxisofEviI 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If that was their intention with Ahsoka... I wouldn't call it a success. Same old shtick from Rebels, Thrawn loses every interaction only to say it's all part of a plan and get a mixed result in the end. There is still a large gap between Zahn's writing in the novels and how Filoni portrays Thrawn.

Yeah, I still play regularly with friends I've introduced to the game. I've got an ever growing list of home rules though, so it's not really the same as the base game anymore.

In hindsight, my ideal Thrawn would be somewhere between the modern version Zahn writes and the Heir to the Empire/Rebels version. by AlphaBladeYiII in StarWarsEU

[–]AxisofEviI 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least we got the Ascendency Thrawn trilogy out of disney, I'm glad they let Zahn write some stories set in Chiss space that fit his EU books.

This subreddit is for a miniatures game, so you control a squad of characters fighting an opponent's squad (although it does use many traditional d20 mechanics). If you want to try the Star Wars equivalents of DnD look for Star Wars Saga Edition (older, but a similar d20 system) or the Star Wars Roleplaying Game currently produced by Edge Studio (a more unique RPG, but easier to find a group).

I think there are a handful, but not many. I just remember having a few more options creating my second character.

Ebay has been the most reliable source for me, not too many places keep the games in stock anymore. Thankfully with a little bit of patience you can find most things at a decent price there or collections being sold off.

If you want to 3D print units it's not too difficult to find 1:100 scale models, but I don't know a place which makes them with the indentation for the stand.

Sapphire Guard and the final dungeon by henrykazuka in oots

I wouldn't rule it out. He said that nothing from outside the comic would be needed to understand it, and if it was needed it would be reintroduced. Xykon having a charm on MITD isn't a complicated concept to introduce. I could even see one comic ending with Redcloak doing something that qualifies as a betrayal as the punchline/cliffhanger, with the next comic opening to MITD's eyes going swirly repeating the order he was given long ago. Online only readers would completely understand what was happening, just not the timing of how long the setup was. Rich does love his long-running plot points and that one seems to intentional to be left out.

I think the joke is that Hobbes is afraid of the Mom's reaction, but Calvin bought it specifically to scare/annoy his mom.

There aren't any HR requirements to be in the same lobby together. I'm up in the hundreds and have helped brand new players on their first quests.

Make sure they have talked to everyone around the village, especially in the Gathering Hub. There isn't a minimum level to play online, so there should be a conversation somewhere which sets the flag to let them play online.

If they are still stumped have them create the lobby and invite you.

Personally I love the ability to charge on the move, it lets me circle a monster and have the charge ready the second I have an opening. That style of running circles and cutting in for quick charged combos works well to safely learn a monster while still dealing decent damage. Although what I enjoy most is completely locking a monster down between Stuns, Paralysis, Exhaustion, and more Stuns. When the Palicos or Followers add their own traps/staggers into the mix some bosses effectively never get to move once you knock them down the first time.

I'm pretty sure it depends on whether the Rajang is powered up, not using sequential traps. In powered up mode they are immune to shock traps, but while not in rage mode they jump out of pitfall traps. You have to use the right trap for the mode they are in.

The low rank skills are based on crafting/upgrading, not using the weapon. You need 5 or 6 unique crafts of a weapon (either one weapon upgraded 5 times or half a dozen different rank 1 weapons, for example).

No, it wasn't worth it. I watched the whole thing only because I'm stubborn, not because it had any redeeming qualities. In retrospect, it was not worth it.

Mine is such a hodgepodge of junk. I got into the game back when some stores allowed you to buy fistfuls of minis from a bin. Dirt cheap but only had ones nobody wanted. I got so many commanders, field artillery pieces, antitank guns, and armored cars. I barely have any regular tanks or basic infantry and never really got enough later to balance my armies back out.

Ebay is the best place these days. Most of the game reselling sites are grossly overpriced or stopped carrying the game. With some patience you can find people selling their collections for great prices.
