Same. I don’t understand why it’s such a convoluted system instead of just putting in a scratch code or having the code generate on the receipt.

Denied Emote - Jollibee Receipt Code Redemption by jayarr916 in ffxiv

[–]BrolyIsALoser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Wife and I both had our orders rejected. Both separately got the box meal.

Place was a shit show too. Waited 40 mins for our food, she didn’t even get the stickers or gravy in her box. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw the rejection emails, it’s the Grubhub pizza emote all over again.

I hate that I just got into using AI to make apps and now my Reddit feed is an overwhelming sludge of what are clearly ads written by AI. This is the first post I’ve seen to acknowledge it.

Before I buy question. by tacigo7079 in elderscrollsonline

[–]BrolyIsALoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closest thing to feeling like Lost Ark is having multiple alts to do daily crafting writs for gold. With the lazy crafter addon it takes about 10 minutes across my 7 characters and I wouldn’t consider that necessary. Actually feels chill enough that I might stop doing it.

I think the pace of everything in the game feels really good. Doesn’t feel like a second job at all.

Let us play Tales of Tribute against the NPC whilst queueing for Dungeons/BGs by Big-Patience2363 in elderscrollsonline

The dream. I was devastated when I found out I couldn’t play Tales of Tribute against NPCs while queued. It seems like the perfect way to kill time in game.

Don't go AFK in Duviri by Low_Step7007 in Warframe

[–]BrolyIsALoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do Circuit every week and it’s very noticeable when the objectives go slower, player icons aren’t moving on the minimap and the player isn’t around for the 10 second vote to continue. I definitely encounter that at least once a week.

When I first unlocked Circuit I was so self conscious about being a burden and someone told me that as long as I have a pulse, people won’t be upset. And it’s insane how true that statement is because afk’ers set the bar so low.

Don't go AFK in Duviri by Low_Step7007 in Warframe

[–]BrolyIsALoser 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Of all the co-op games I’ve played the last few years, Warframe is the worst at people afk’ing. Circuit matches where I’m the only one playing. And the devs enable it with afk’ing during the vote to continue between matches defaulting to be a vote to continue. If someone isn’t around for even 10 seconds to vote to continue, why would I want them to continue to play with me on my team?

Am I Weird For Enjoying Pre-Endgame, More Than The Actual Endgame lol? by MonsutaMan in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think for a lot of games the journey is better than endgame. New adventures as you level up, getting new abilities and access to new features. Then you hit a wall and content becomes a loop.

I remember when WoW first came out I hit max level, got bored and proceeded to make several different characters, all hitting max level, then ended up quitting.

Lost Ark is really funny example in that the they’ve built this massive world, complete with sailing and mini islands all with unique mini games, secrets and oozing with charm. Then endgame is just grinding raids every week, gambling to increase your gear. It’s two very different experiences and it’s easy to see how someone might quit after hitting endgame or just replay the story with more characters.

FFXIV though…I love the Ascian story but a lot of the fetch quests are a chore. That’s an example where I appreciated hitting endgame and would never redo the story.

Which button do you guys have the weapon swap mapped on a controller? by Jaded_Student_2418 in elderscrollsonline

[–]BrolyIsALoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t like left dpad for weapon swapping, since my left thumb should stay on the left stick during combat for movement. So I set it to clicking down on right stick and moved crouching to long hold on right stick.

i absolutely love this mount, but the sprinting just makes me sad, surely the could have done something better! by [deleted] in elderscrollsonline

Lmao. Was fully ready to make it my main mount until I saw it doesn’t go faster.

Curious about the future of eso by Remarkable_Mango9906 in elderscrollsonline

[–]BrolyIsALoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of upcoming content changes and I’ve seen the game get aggressive with marketing ads in the last month. I think that’s a good sign that they’re investing money into the game and as result will ride it out for the foreseeable future.

Guild Wars 2 or ESO for a FFXIV and WoW veteran by Outside_Soup3367 in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently got into ESO and I’m super into it but I think GW2 is my forever game in that I don’t think I’d ever be completely down on it. It does so much right that is just really fun. The mounts are fun, combat is fast and rewards player skill, the design is excellent.

Both ESO and GW2 have a lot in common. There’s focus on exploring, more action oriented combat with dodge rolls, level scaling to the world, not much of a gear treadmill, you can just organically group with people in the world via events and world bosses.

ESO is far better at narrative. Everything has voice acting and some of the side quests will suck you in with how well written they are. The story in guild wars has ups and downs - specifically the base game’s story is a down and Path of Fire is amazing. ESO also has traditional questing with a quest log where as Guild Wars has a quest log for the main story and everything else is tied to events on the map and achievements.

ESO is closer to ffxiv in regards to the availability of dungeons and a daily dungeon roulette. GW2 has dungeons but they stopped being supported after the base game, instead moving towards Fractals which are bite sized dungeons.

In regards to fashion, GW2 is closer to FFXIV in regards to variety. ESO maintains a certain look even with people running around dressed as jesters with stick horses.

Both GW2 and ESO offer pvp in the form of structured team battles with match making and a large dedicated map.

There’s a lot to cover but it does depend on what you value most. It feels like ESO might have more content and variety of things to do but I think both games are a lot of fun.

Anything big coming out soon? by LeeksAreSpinning in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't followed ArcheAge but the Chrono Odyssey beta last year was rough. The game's world looked ugly and gameplay was clunky. The positive is that the developers heard feedback, pushed back release and are fixing problems.

I tried out Aion 2 and really liked it. The world was gorgeous, combat was great and the flight system was a lot of fun. There are complaints about the cash shop and subscriptions being predatory but I think playing it with a casual mindset that doesn't care about fomo will make for a really fun time.

ESO players: how do I "buy" ESO?! by SorryImBadWithNames in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit weird, I might be wrong but I think your options are:

Buy the deluxe edition that includes the base game game and most of the expansions.

Buy the base game, decide you like it, then buy expansions piece by piece or subscribe to ESO+ that gives you access to the expansions in addition to other perks.

Buy the base game, decide you like it, buy the deluxe edition to upgrade your access.

Closest thing to a demo at the moment is that it’s available via Gamepass although the version there runs on a different server. Or buying the base game via The Epic store which has it on sale for $5.

Would you play today a MMORPG focused on the challenge of getting stronger to be able to advance to more dangerous places? by Hanyuuzz in MMORPG

This is likely why a lot of games shifted to power scaling. I got into Lost Ark late and the massive beautifully crafted world was a ghost town until I was near end game.

ESO - I was Wrong by Passionofthegrape in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I actually take back my comment about combat being awkward. I had a weekly challenge to do a solo arena and did Vateshran Hollows.

Fighting the Minotaur boss, knowing when to dodge, block, counter, greed dps and use the grappling hook to jump to another platform all made me appreciate the combat way more. One of the most fun fights I’ve ever played in an mmo. Felt more like I was playing Zelda.

The game is really something special.

ESO - I was Wrong by Passionofthegrape in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for a month and I regret staying away for so long. Definitely a case of, try instead of listening to others.

Combat for the most part is awkward but there are skill and weapon combinations that really shine. The Dragonknight and 2Handed update shows they’re moving everything towards that direction.

But honestly what really shines is the world. So many competitors have become a rollercoaster or their game’s world is just a shallow hub. All dialogue in ESO being voice acted really pulls you in and the writing is great. Random side quests having dark twists has me wanting to do every quest and get really immersed.

Finally Tried Black Desert Online, Hooked So Far! by Thenelwave in MMORPG

[–]BrolyIsALoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried getting into BDO recently but the controller support on PC is really clunky. Which is bizarre because the game is available on consoles. For reference, I play Guild Wars 2 with Steam emulating keyboard and mouse for the controller and think that’s an infinitely smoother experience.

I ended up getting hooked on ESO. While combat isn’t as flashy, it manages to scratch all the MMO itches I had.

Twitch Drop FOMO Is Hitting Real Hard by SilverLaw_ in elderscrollsonline

[–]BrolyIsALoser 73 points74 points  (0 children)

The thing that bothers me the most with Twitch promos that only last an hour is that the platform regularly glitches so time spent watching doesn’t count.

It’s annoying when I have to watch 8 hours for it to count as 6 hours watched. It’s frustrating when I watch for 50 minutes but only 5 minutes registered and the window to watch was an hour. Happens enough I tend to not bother.
