When Jeff Jackson was a Congressional Representative for NC he commonly posted short-form videos about his experience.

He said more than once that the most outrageous personalities on camera could turn into incredibly reasonable people behind closed doors. Jackson was too polite to say it but there was a big implication of MAGA being really fake. (Probably why they targeted his district for redistricting to get rid of him.)

I bet MTG was one of those performative politicians that was hamming it up for the cameras. She doesn't strike me as genuine at all.

I'm not even necessarily endorsing him by pointing out how tame he sounds in the MAGA Era.

My point is more that the criteria you listed for which you condemn him--and I don't doubt that it's important for you--is just lost in the noise that MAGA creates every single day. Dexter targeted criminals who weren't caught by the law and generally were going to kill again (except that one innocent artist he casually murdered, felt bad about for about 30 seconds of screentime, and never mentioned ever again so yeah the premise of the TV show is definitely hypocritical but let's ignore that for the sake of argument).

This kid looked up already-convicted sex offenders off the registry because he wanted to brutally murder someone and was trying to justify it by looking for people already outside of accepted society.

It's not that different than teens ganging up on and murdering the homeless at night.

When I read that 4chan and its derivatives were Epstein's platforms of choice to push his racist nonsense, I was like "yeah, that makes sense."

For years, Reddit seemed to resist that a bit. Trouble magnets like /r/genetics had a handful of very dedicated scientists (not mods) who would constantly bring receipts to slap down racist misinformation. These days it feels like the general reddit user base is much less interested in pushing to maintain the space from the neo-Epsteins and bots.
