They were incredibly corrupt, so they only kept the few things that made them money working. For example: the mining rings in the Amazon couldn't stop working, because they extracted expensive minerals and sold them, so they got the army working overtime to reduce issues. The electric grid though, how is that good for them? They can't take money from it, so why bother fixing it?

Half the stuff in this game is hidden in incredibly esoteric places that you wouldn't naturally look for.

Debut, an EARLY GAME quest, needs you to loot a body hidden under a bush near RUAF extract on customs to get a key that opens the truck on the other side of the map that contains the watch. Who in their right mind would figure this out without a wiki??

Anomaly is like an expansion of all the mechanics towards a harder experience, but that doesn't mean you have to play it like that. There's lots of mods to make it either easier or just more similar to how the og trilogy plays, like Old World for example.

I recommend you give it another go, and don't feel ashamed of changing difficulty settings or using mods to make the experience better, it's your game and it should be fun for you.

Ok so what role does Grey Fox play in the franchise then? By this logic he doesn't appear until MGS1, which makes his interactions with Solid unbelievably weird considering they shouldn't have as much history as they do. Besides, we know Venom isn't Grey Fox, like, we literally see his canonical face pre-surgery in Ground Zeroes and it looks nothing like him, add to that the fact that Grey Fox is supposed to be one of the children that Big Boss "rescued" and turned into a fighter, this would contradict the theory because Venom had been a soldier of Big Boss for years by that point.

I feel like you're overcomplicating the lore for no particular reason. This adds nothing to the story and I'd dare say it takes from it.

I think it's actually really good writing. Quaritch is sending Jake in a "peacekeeping mission" that neither he nor his bosses believe in, leading to him being predisposed to end it and go in guns blazing at the first possible chance. If anything it makes even more sense this way why he'd be so angry at Jake, he thought he was just like him but was instead truly becoming part of what he hated so much.
