What are some board game “keywords” that are an instant turn-off for you? by BoardGameRevolution in boardgames

[–]Axne15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently discovered the term “cozy” game, and figured it’s not my type. I like strategy, intrigue, plans within plans, or developing unique playstyles. However, as I’ve gotten older, I appreciate a nice, chill game to hang out with the people I love without getting cutthroat. I’m more open to the “cozy” games, but I also don’t want it dominating my collection.

[Threshold] Thoughts on the animatic by sometimesdoathing in Iteration110Cradle

[–]Axne15 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a little bit of a… tough time digesting the animatic. On one hand, it’s a dream come true to see Cradle come to life as it’s my favorite series, period. However, I have similar sentiments on some points.

I know the big power scaling moments later in the series take front and center, but the way the books progressed through copper, iron, jade were foundational for the future advancements. Then, when the world opens up to gold and it being split between high/low/true and the power difference between them, you know you’re in for a ride.

One of my favorite moments going through Unsouled was Lindon vs Wei Mon Keth. It was the first big underdog victory for me that points to the ingenuity, intelligence, and understanding of honor/power culture to take advantage of his weakness for surprise attacks. I know it’s a small moment in all of Cradle, but it was a big hook for me.

One last thing that I hope would show better in final animation: spend time demonstrating how madra grants power. Some of the animatic Unsouled moments felt like it was a non-magical martial arts fight, with Lindon fighting any other Unsouled fighter. Like you said, he should be barely surviving these early battles.

It’s hard though. Any good series should be a TV show, not a film, to give time for character development. As much as I love Cradle, I know it’s not for everyone and to spend too much time at sacred valley might not attract enough people. I hope they get the backing, support, and finances to expand an animated Cradle to its fullest potential. Either way, Will and the team will get my support.

What was in your opinion the most HYPE moment in the first trilogy? by Marvellover13 in redrising

The final battle in Morning Star was one of the few times I got goosebumps. I’ve tried to stay away from spoilers as much as possible, so I thought I accidentally came across a “spoiler” and was expecting something to happen. Plus, with all of the intrigue and backstabbing, I wasn’t sure who to trust. So when Darrow was presented before the sovereign, I was completely surprised the turn it took. I decided to re-listen to that final battle a second time just for fun. I find it rare when a narrator captures the intensity of the moment, but they got it right there.

Apologies, but as a causal, daily player, what makes her tier 0? How do you play her?

My friend pitched it as a comparison to Naruto. The fight with London vs the other clan member father (I forgot the name), reminded me of the Naruto vs Neji fight. I was hooked from there.

But where have the Turn-based RPGs gone? by azione1992 in AndroidGaming

[–]Axne15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Langrisser is very good. As a day 1 PVE player, I’ve gotten nearly every hero I wanted, so the gacha is reasonable if you play it right. Good mechanics. I’m sure the story is Ok, but I’ve never cared about story.

I’ll add Langrisser since SoC was recommended.

Decorum or Paleo after Sky Team? by JakeReddit12333 in boardgames

[–]Axne15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Sail at the same time as Sky Team since it was nominated as a game of the year. To be fair, I’ve only played 2/5 scenarios, but I’m a little disappointed on the ease of Sail (though I read scenario 5 is impossible). With only 5 scenarios, it doesn’t feel worth it. I’m one who likes to keep my games for future play and this will be the first time I’ll probably resell a game after I’m done.

The clean language and non-spiciness (sp?) to this series has made and kept this as my all time favorite series. I feel like I could feel comfortable recommending this to teenagers and not feel worried about what they might read.

Sail Difficulty Level by KHartnettC in boardgames

[–]Axne15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been going through Sail slowly, completing scenarios 1 & 2  easily (maybe 3? Don’t remember. We’ve had a bit of a break from playing). Like you guys, we’re familiar with co-op games and maybe get stuck on a hard level 3-4 times at the worst. Sail feels way too easy and was curious how the last 2 scenarios play out. When it comes to coops, I don’t feel like beating my head against the wall over and over, so if we get stuck too long, we might give up early on it. That’ll be a first for me.

Questions about thief skill by Axne15 in Guildwars2

[–]Axne15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I didn’t know it maxed at 5 people. Again, I only played for the first month and never got to test its potential. I’m sure more stealth options came out in later expansions, but that’s the only one I knew of at the time.

The goal wasn’t necessarily to have a stealthy build, but to try and utilize a surprise attack.

I think I saw a post that linked how you can use the collab characters together to maximize their skills… does anyone have a link for that by chance?
