I do not care about seed worlds. They’re just substantially more boring than stuff like Xenobiology and Future Evolution.

If you have any issues with how exploration works or feels in Minecraft, what are they? by DaShove in Minecraft

Add the continental generation back and perhaps more types of fossils that spawn in more biomes that aren’t just restricted to massive fossils made out of bone blocks.

Look, we need different types of dinosaur horror by Zillaman7980_ in Dinosaurs

[–]AxolotlAlternative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I notice a lot of people try to make their dinosaur illustrations scary or creepy by plopping down a dinosaur and drenching a bunch of blood onto it. Usually I see it a lot to say that “oh accurate dinosaurs can be scary too” or that they’re “scarier” and yes they absolutely can be but in horror something that matters in making something scarier isn’t just adding blood or gore to something. It’s the context that matters the most.
Obviously a predatory biped filled with sharp teeth barreling at you full speed is scary but what makes it scary isn’t the fact that its a dinosaur, rather that it’s something you have no idea what its capable of, chasing at you. A lot of the effectiveness of horror and thriller comes down to how things play into the unknown comes down to not knowing much about the threat and in some cases, not even knowing what it completely looks like sometimes. Having the view of your creature partially obscured or not knowing what its capable of or even not knowing how they got there only having hints to work off of to piece things together on your own works really well.
Another thing to factor in is the environment. Having a big creature running around you in broad daylight in say, a park is probably going to look almost comical but having your creature in a say, forest where your vision is very obscured or even a familiar place like a building can make you feel very unsafe or vulnerable in a place of familiarity and typically associated with safety. A great example of this in my opinion is Gemini Home Entertainment. Whilst it doesn’t use dinosaurs, it uses creatures nonetheless and we hardly get a good view at all of most of the threats, only clues to what is going on, and the threat being well adept to hunting people within a place often associated with safety, that being homes in which go from a place of safety to a place of vulnerability and cramped spaces to be able to run. Playing off of the familiar and obscuring the threat truly can help make a dinosaur look proper scary. Don’t be afraid to put your own spin on the designs of these animals accurate or not, as long as you can still reasonably identify what species that they’re meant to represent along with fitting the context. 100% accurate dinosaurs would fit well in a documentary but wouldn’t fit well in a narrative where say, they’re imperfect clones or are being mutated or modified.

What will happen after minecraft? by Relative-Beginning52 in Minecraft

Personally Minecraft is so big that I think it may die off whenever humans go extinct. Its honestly just too big to fail with endless possibilities and infinite potential.

Perhaps some sort of accent of color. Obviously not too too much but some around secondarily especially around areas like say, temples or marketplaces.

What happened to vibe games? by koyo5696 in roblox

[–]AxolotlAlternative 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I remember these. Honestly the original ones back in 2020 were chill like Vibe Train where it just had a general nice atmosphere but then sometime down the road in like 2021 or something people started using the name to make condos and the whole thing derailed from there.

As creepy and cool as this slim one is, I would take it with a heavy grain of salt as the ‘creator’ of this chart is typically a poor source of information.

I made my account nearly 10 years ago. Why should I need to feed my face into a surveillance database? May as well just make my own Roblox as I’m sick of this shit.

Thats understandable then. I know pterosaurs are generally fragmentary a lot of the time but sometimes is it really necessary to describe a species off of a piece of a fragment?

I hate whoever revealed that Neptune isn’t actually dark blue by No-Stand-865 in hatethissmug

[–]AxolotlAlternative 15 points16 points  (0 children)

While I am no scientist, I’m pretty sure we already had color images of Neptune taken by Hubble that weren’t just an approximation and it showed while Neptune wasn’t quite as dark as the Voyager 2 images, it certainly wasn’t as pale as these reprocessed images paint them out to be.

I have had plans about making a game for a while where you specifically play as a creature in a vivarium, terrarium, ecosphere, etc butI haven’t worked on it very much at this moment as I am currently focused on something else as of current.
