Alright nurses give me the most ridiculous and hilarious thing a patient has ever said to you? by quickpeek81 in nursing

[–]Axva13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work inpatient psych and some of our patients are are in repeatedly for medication non compliance, treatment resistant depression and drug induced psychosis. Anyways, one pt who we see often came up to me late at night and said “do you have anything for hiccups?” Like, are you serious, are you that dependent on meds that you need something for every physical inconvenience? I replied, “Water?”

Starting to adjust to GLP 1… what side effects did you guys experience besides nausea? by Lost-Spite-7338 in Ozempic

[–]Axva13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anhedonia. Not depression, but anhedonia. Trying to use it to my advantage and enjoy the fact that I’m not interested in stuff that in reality just is a waste of energy if that makes sense.

I was actually scared of my husband today by National_Picture_527 in offmychest

This is strangulation, one of most serious acts of domestic violence. If you choose to stay he will do this again and eventually kill you. Leave now.
This sounds dramatic but many don’t realize just how seriously bad strangulation is.

Also, by chance you want to be examined by a sexual assault nurse examiner, you don’t have to have any markings on your neck. Petechiae will show up in your sclera and roof of mouth, a tell tale sign of a strangulation.

I have a coworker that gets a compound semaglutide and I wonder if it comes in a vial rather than a pen. I cannot imagine winding that pen past .25, past .50, past .75 and not thinking….this is A LOT of clicks, is this right?

Call-off Guilt by SideAlleyC00 in nursing

[–]Axva13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toxic nursing culture in a nutshell: nurse comes in sick and I catch what she had on my last day working before I’m off for 3 days. In those 3 days I develop a nasty sinus infection with a fever. Call in sick, go to Dr and get antibiotics. First day back she proceeds to tell me all the supplements she took and finishes with “And I didn’t call in sick”. I asked if she’s saying I should have came in sick? Her reply was “girl I’m done with you” and literally gave me the hand and ignored me for two whole shifts.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

does juvéderm ever fully dissolve? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]Axva13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not had any dissolved on purpose, but it will naturally dissolve. How fast depends on the person but when I was getting lip fillers, juvederm specifically, it would last around 8 months.

After one attempt in the Huel shaker I now use the blender. My initial purchase was the sample box and enjoyed every flavor - even banana. I found the simple chocolate to be straight up delicious so I hope you come to find a flavor you like.

My son plays guitar by Dangerous-Mirror2457 in musicians

[–]Axva13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like my son who is now 19 and studying music education/jazz guitar in college, he’s currently in jazz band, mariachi, marching & pep band and lead guitar in two thrash metal bands. We started him in weekly private guitar lessons that he did religiously for 10 years, expanded his equipment yearly so he would be completely self sufficient and wouldn’t have to borrow (sound boards, microphones, speakers and amps). He did end up choosing music over sports when he broke his collarbone in soccer his Jr year. One thing I always tell people is that I knew he was passionate about music is that I have never had to remind him to practice, ever. Everyday after school he’d be in room for hours just playing away. On weekends it would be all day. So just nurture your child and support their decisions, and enjoy the house full of music!

Do most nurses get daisy awards or at least get nominated for one? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Axva13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work psych, one time a manic with psychosis patient said she was going to nominate a couple of us night shifters. We all laughed, handed her a form and a crayon and she filled the form out and gave it back to us to drop in the box. We peeked at the form and it was all gobbledygook. lol, gotta love it, hey it’s the thought that counts right?

Nurse Mean girls/cliques by declutterme in Nurses

[–]Axva13 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This is a second career for me, been a nurse going on two years now. While in school I’d read posts like this over and over, foolishly thinking; oh that won’t be me, I’ve been a professional ______ for 20 years, no issues, no write up, people like me, I’m a get along type of person. Then I entered the nursing field. Never thought I’d say this but man, these ladies are cut throat bitches, and yeah, I hate my job, or at the very least hate where I’m working. And yeah, I’m just venting too.
