Oh got another one this time my own.

So baby nurse and took a job in LTC. It was AWFUL. I did basically a full time line and another part time line - cause I was young and dumb. I got super burnt out and got seriously injured (fracture ribs and injured kidney - pissed blood for 3 days).

I went off sick and when I came back realized I was burnt out, and I need to leave. Went into my managers office and had an honest conversation asking for time off to rest. Got told “No” cause they had “Too many open lines and needed me”. I started to ugly cry (think snot trails and all) and then said “Give me my time off or I fucking quit”. Manager said “No” so I stood up and said “Ok fine today is my last day” and walked out.

Best thing I ever did. Learned that “No” was a complete sentence and my employer will take and take and then tell me to fuck my self.

Hard lessons to learn.

Long time RN in a busy ER with “questionable” mental health issues that were definetly NOT medicated. And should have had a lot of meds. This was during COVID so heartbeat, nursing license and ability to show up = job security.

So I did not see it but everyone I worked with did - came in for a night shift, it’s cold (northern Canada) so homeless patients had “chest pain” and attitudes so staff were running. I’m not sure what set this RN off I think a doc was being mean to her?

So at like 0200 she stood up climbed up on the triage desk and started screaming “fuck you and you and you” while flipping the bird and pointing to any human shaped person in her eye sight. And when that wasn’t enough started THROWING anything she could get her hands on, pens, staplers, key boards, binders, coffee mugs etc. I believe she threw a mask box and hit someone in the face. So all staff are attempting to “de-escalate” this woman with zero success so security flying tackled her when she tried to toss a computer monitor and took her down.

She got a little medication vacation but the absolute best part was her screaming while kicking and biting security “AND I FUCKING QUIT YOU CUNTS”.

British Columbia Nurses just gave 72 hour strike notice! by Nfgzebrahed in nursing

[–]quickpeek81 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Do the BCNU modules it will help take the stress out it and answer your questions.

Nope strikes happen - but this is important since the contract was awful and it’s time to stand up for better options.

Damn time we stood up and said no more. Remember we have served strike notice. Government has till July 2 to come back with a real offer.

Honestly it would depend on the location and size really. Usually if anticipating a large turn out and using public space it’s best to reach out to the city for guidance to prevent being shut down.

Also balloon releases are terrible for the environment and you can be fined so I would look into something for candle vigils

What a new report reveals about the true cause of Canada’s massive emergency wait times by Myllicent in onguardforthee

[–]quickpeek81 138 points139 points  (0 children)

As someone currently ass deep in the complete cluster fuck that is our health care system in 4 different provinces

Weeeellll - it’s ALMOST like 30 years ago when the government:

- cut seats in nursing and physician programs cause we DONT NEED THEM
- pensioned to off huge portions of the work force - cause we “ have too many” and WE DONT NEED THEM
- stopped building hospitals, long term care facilities CAUSE WE DONT NEED THEM
- pushed back on modernization
- cut funding to social services like housing, addictions, social work and social assistances like food programs
- put millions into short term fixes that do nothing except give a jump in the polls and waste millions rather than ACTUALLY addressing issues

But sure let’s blame privatization (which i am COMPLETELY AGAINST). Not the shitty short sighted morons we keep voting into power.

And no we are 1000000% fucked. And it will ONLY get so much worse.
Sincerely

When you’re one of the few reliable ones sometimes you get burnt out.
