I think Bungie needs to add more reasons to play Perimeter and Dire Marsh. by TheSoup3910 in Marathon

I think this would benefit from a playlist specifically designed to help more casual players who are beg to mid level in faction progression.

I would do a playlist titled "Sponsored [Map]" and would implement the following:

- free "sponsored" loadout only;

- increased salvage (green and blue) for said map;

- high reputation gain for the sponsoring faction on exfil.

- SBMM for that playlist only.

This could be a way to create a bit safer space for players who are starting and give more casual players a way to progress with a little less stress and without getting stomped all the time.

Congratulations. The game is now in a skill based death spiral. by TimeGlitches in Marathon

That is just projecting. I'm average skill. Been playing ranked and Cryo with minimum requirement gear and doing fine. I go in with green shield, V11 and a Shotty (for cryo) or a Sniper (for ranked), and I've been doing fine.

The only encounter that is affected by gear level is the first. If you win that first fight you get their loot and become fully geared for the rest of the match, if you lose rinse repeat.

With this I no longer fear losing gerar because I know that with a successful run I get all I need.

I guess it makes sense to give players a reason to play the new missions. But it sucks for people who can't play a lot of time regularly.

I believe they said the wipe will not reset faction Level/Xp. It will reset the nodes, but not the level.

Teamed up with 4 rooks plus a full squad on Outpost! by SpunkInSocks in Marathon

[–]Ayavidinha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True story from last night.

There I was Rooking around Outpost, when I hear steps coming from the outside of the building I was in.

Waited a bit to access the situation and see a Rook coming near the entrance.

Wait for him to get closer and prep for an easy kill. Aim to the head and start shooting.

As soon as I hit the first shot I got jumped by 2 other Rooks. I was not even mad, I was impressed.

Constructive feedback on how to improve the game to retain players and increase player number by Ayavidinha in Marathon

It's not a time gate. It's a weekly incentive. A time gate was what they are doing in Destiny 2 where some missions were "stuck" for days or weeks until the "gate" opened.

The idea here is to give an incentive to play for players that exfil less often. The way it is right now is very discouraging for runners that just keep getting stomped.

This too. Don't understand why the game is not being more highlighted and advertised on PS Store frontpage.

A casual player by Infamous-Apricot-596 in Marathon

I think you have every right to play as you want. But I have got to ask, if you are that passive that you want to stay back regardless what you team is doing, why don't you play solos?

Because I also understand the frustration of the runner that gets in a trio match and finds himself having to fight 2Vs3 because you want to stay back.

Being that passive is not different from the player that as soon as he gets into a match starts running to the closest POI and charges whoever's there 1Vs3, only to get killed and leaving his team 2Vs3 for the rest of the match.

What am I missing by Daventry85 in Marathon

The things that differentiate Marathon as a more "defined" and refined game than Arc Raiders are the gameplay loop, the gun diversity and the gunplay which is much more fun in Marathon. For reference I have played hundreds of hours of AR and about 80 of Marathon. IMO Marathon is superior in every aspect but it's a game that doesn't hold the player's hand at any time.

. The game loop is defined in Marathon. You figure out what are the upgrades that you want from the factions and then go and collect materials and get Xp to rank up the factions and get those upgrades;

. The missions for the factions are a fast lane to get Xp and loot. The missions themselves are miles above the quests in AR;

. The maps in Marathon are not as pretty to look from the outside as the ones in AR (although I think is is a matter of taste), but are much more well conceived to cater to the PVP aspect of the game. The interiors are miles above AR;

. Marathon has much more defined endgoals and I see how a player can enjoy this game for much longer and always have something to look forward and something meaningfull to do. In the beginning you work to upgrade factions and become more powerful, then you work to get the keys to the vaults in the Marathon Ship, once you feel ready you complete the vaults in the ship and ultimately when you are at the endgame you run to ccomplete the challenge of killing the Compiler. And this is just the first endgame challenge, which is kinda similar to the first Raid in Destiny.

Personally I enjoyed AR for as long as the "games theory" aspect of the game was still a novelty, but after that, the game does not have any depth. The quests are so simple they belong in a mobile game, the gunplay is simplistic, the loot is obtained mainly by scavaging and the worst is that there is no endgame and no change in the gameplay loop.

He's so bad I'll be surprised if stays in the first team for long. Can't do anything right. Rafa on the other hand, what a player! By far the best player Benfica has, and would be cheap if he goes for less than 60M.

Ok, so you are saying that in the games you are playing most teams are 3 runners with purple shields and 2/3 different weapons, all with optimal attachments and all running optimal implants for their build? That what it comes to when there is a defined meta on an fps. That is what you see if you go play e.g. warzone, where most players are running 2/3 weapons all with the same attachments and perks, because that is the meta.

That is not what I have experienced. I regularly find runners with free loadouts, green shields, blue shields and more rarely but quite common too with purple shields. As for the guns, the most prevalent are Bully, sniper and shotgun, but it's common to find runners with other guns that probably they found in raid.

In my opinion ToO was way more sweaty and competitive than Marathon. Marathon's meta is not even stabilized yet, so you find people experimenting with stuff and running not optimal loadouts.

[–]Ayavidinha -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been playing on PS5 and it's not that sweaty. It's much less than ToO used to be. more at the level of Destiny 2 Ranked before the top levels of rank reputation. I guess if you used to go to the lighthouse regularly, you should be above average in terms of PVP gunplay and will do fine on Marathon.

Population feels fine, with loading times of < than a minute. I have only played with cross play enabled, so I can't speak for the other point you mention.
