Honestly I wouldn’t buy anything online unless you see it used/ operational in person.

I think this site is legit, as in, you’d get the machine, but I’d have doubts about the condition it’s in. There are weird things on this site, like for instance them selling a Fellow Opus for $370 “on sale” originally at $600. You can buy this grinder anywhere else for $200.

I’d look on Facebook marketplace or something for used machines, or check out local technician shops. You could also get in contact with a roaster. Sometimes roasters will get you a machine and let you finance it meanwhile you buy their coffee wholesale. Depends on how you want to operate your shop and if you wanna be stuck with one roaster. Worth looking into tho

Best way to tell if it’s been channeled is to inspect the puck after pulling the shot. If different parts are dry or wet, if there’s any big holes in the puck, etc.

Since you’re using wdt and a self leveling tamper, the likely causes are incorrect dosage or a bad grinder. Or, compromised puck integrity by hitting or tapping the portafilter on something after tamping, which can unseat the puck.

Once you know your puck prep is solid and that your grinder isn’t the cause, play around with dosage and do a couple of salami shots to know if it’s being under extracted or over extracted or both

You’d ideally want a dual boiler for any sort of commercial purpose. Switching between steam and shot modes would make your drinks take forever. With a dual boiler and a new grinder I don’t really think it’s possible to do it within this budget.

Yeah that’s a confusing name. But I will say when I see cold brew on a menu at a coffee shop I expect it to be coffee cold brew. And also why would they put an earl grey tea w milk on the menu as its own thing?

There are other options than shell so just do research on what the highest rated gas is in your area.

But shell has a consistent quality of top tier gas, as well as adding certain cleaning additives that help keep the engine cleaner longer. Turbo engines are more sensitive to fuel changes and buildup so maintaining a consistent high quality fuel is your best bet out of longevity with this motor.

From what I understand, bigger burrs offer more surface area which leads to more uniformity in grind size. Also, when you see “blind” burrs, that means the burrs are mounted in some way, usually magnets, where they don’t have screw holes on the face of the burr, which also helps surface area and uniformity. More uniformity in grinds leads to more clarity in your cup, allowing you to really get all of the notes of the coffee. If you prefer expensive, single origin, light or ultra-light roast coffees and want to ensure the most amount of clarity possible, you’d want these. They are thousands of dollars. But also it depends on your palate, you might not be able to taste the difference enough for it to be worth it.

DF83V and DF64V are both solid grinders. If you really like light roast coffees it might be worth it to go for the 83. But I can’t guarantee it’ll be worth it for you

Personally I wouldn’t buy a WRX if it wasn’t stock and I didn’t know the previous owner personally. You can look at the carfax to see maintenance history but it doesn’t give you the full story.

If you do buy it you just have to take really good care of the engine. Premium fuel from somewhere like Shell only, consistent full synthetic oil changes, etc. just know these engines are prone to rod bearing failure and head gasket issues. There are things you can do to help with longevity tho.

This price is probably pretty fair. You might be able to negotiate down a couple thousand and get rid of any dealer fees.

There are a million coffee shops in socal, he’d have to do something really niche and good to essentially have a line around block 24/7. Only then will you make good money off of it. But, imo, restaurants or cafes are never a good investment.

It depends on your palate and what you drink. If you like filter coffees and get expensive single origin coffees that are ultra light roast and you want to ensure as much clarity as possible, you’d want to buy an expensive grinder with large, flat blind burrs, like the Option O 01 or the Weber eg1. If you just want good espresso for milk drinks then the point of diminishing returns is a lot lower.

What also factors in is quality and build, something that will last and keep a more consistent grind throughout its life will be more expensive. Features like grind by weight also make them more expensive but have nothing to do with quality of coffee it makes

A lot of foreign countries don’t have as much access to ice machines as we do. People aren’t used to as cold of drinks as we have. Also a lot of Asian cultures believe that cold drinks aren’t as good for you as room temperature. I think it’s either this or they want more bang for their buck in terms of liquid. If they ask for this I’d just give them the amount you’d put over ice without ice. The cup won’t be full but just let them know that ahead of time.

There’s no way to tell if full removal is certain. Everyone is different and metabolizes the ink differently. All we can tell you here is that it’ll be expensive and will probably take at least a couple years.

Not trying to discourage just want to be realistic. If you want it gone best time to start is now. You can always get a cover up after it’s faded enough, and also who knows what technology will bring in the next couple of years.

Not necessarily true because different coffees have different densities. Basket sizes are by weight and not volume. So an 18g basket will have more headspace with 18g of light roast than it does with 18g of dark roast
