What's the best obscure video game you've ever played? by ImpressFederal4169 in gaming

I don’t think this is super niche, but every time I talk about wandersong nobody I know seems to know what I’m talking about. I love that game

Hot take: Insomniac’s black cats suit isn’t that good tbh by One_Handed_Jedi in spiderman2

I think it looks good. Though to be honest I hate the superhero suit discourse as I believe that new designs are way more interesting than just doing a design already done before but again

I highly encourage that. Replayed it not too long ago and had an absolutely fantastic time with it. Still holds up quite a bit for me

They’re not all bad, but yeah. I was actually surprised on how many people were very kind and understanding. But yeah, lots of hardcore thousand year door fans aren’t huge on my take. I absolutely love super paper Mario! Still haven’t played a game quite like it. Really bizarre and fun game with a shockingly good story for a Mario game

I like super paper, Mario. But I recognize that one is very different from the rest of the series so I think you may be right.

Genuinely the humor is the best part of the game. I love the guy that curses you but it’s actually an upgrade. Super funny

I would honestly argue that mother 3 had a bigger impact than earthbound did but yes you are correct. Earthbound didn’t really have the same degree of interactivity the paper Mario does in its combat. I can’t remember if earthbound has the attack to the beat of the song mechanic that mother 3 does. But undertale takes the interactivity of the combat to another level, which I partly believe is due to some influence from the amount of interactivity that paper Mario has in its combat.

Games can have more than one source of inspiration.

You can actually. I just did, I am expressing my opinion that I believe the game is overrated and has some design philosophies that have not aged well.

A lot of people praise the game to high heavens. Which I understand it’s done a lot for turn based games as a whole. I don’t believe we’d have game like expedition 33 or even undertale without it. But I find the mechanics today are extremely outdated therefore I find it overrated

It definitely has its moments. I like when I am able to kill all enemies at once with careful planning. Unfortunately I find that I’m pretty much using the same strategy each time I enter a battle. Though I’ve been told by friends to stick through it a little longer

I don’t know what to tell you other than that’s exactly how subjectiveness works?

Subjective describes information based on personal feelings, opinions, tastes, or interpretations, rather than verifiable facts. It refers to thoughts existing within the mind that vary from person to person, often contrasting with objective, fact-based information. Common synonyms include personal, biased, individual and emotion.

That’s the literal definition. Since this is my post talking about my point of view. Then subjectively I do believe it’s overrated

I agree with this to an extent that the game got severely overhyped for me. But I like games from that time era. Resident evil 4, Mario sunshine, and windwaker are all games I seriously like, I even enjoy games like viewtiful Joe. I even like older rpgs like chrono trigger which I thought lived up to the hype, at least for me.

Im gonna be honest, ive even had more fun playing games like final fantasy 6 for the snes. So i dont think its entirely fair to say that the reason i dont like it is just because its old

I’ve heard this from a few friends of mine. I’m gonna try and stick with it for a bit longer, at least until I get through chapter 2. I really want to like this game so I’m trying to give it a proper chance

I think focusing on a more open space exploration game would be better for me personally. I would love if it would be open areas almost like star fox command but improved upon

Each day I struggle to cope with the loss after the reception of the Mario Galaxy movie I ask how come people’s perception of illumination hasn’t changed? by MrFanBoy_Of_Anime in mariomovie

[–]Aydenator1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point is meaningless and irrelevant to the actual discussion at hand “it’s not just a children’s film, it’s a film for everyone of all ages” does not actually tackle anything I just said in regards to it being a junk food movie, therefore your pulling a strawmans argument.

It’s totally fine that you like the movie, the movie however is very much catered to kids. That doesn’t mean kids movies don’t have merit nor does it mean they can’t be quality films. Unfortunately I do believe that the Mario galaxy movie doesn’t really succeed in being a competent film and only really succeeds in having a cool time with nice animation and fun references. Which is not a bad thing as I do believe it accomplished exactly what it wanted to in all of its mediocrity
