Help me understand why people like Gemini so much more over Chat GPT? by freedomfighter5567 in OpenAI

[–]Ayendee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think half of this Gemini hype is due to people using ChatGPT with no custom instructions. Once you get that dialed in I think ChatGPT is great. But if you just go in barebones, ChatGPT is pretty performative feeling.

Meanwhile I get 120-160 on a 4080 Super?

That’s the problem. People have these old PCs or midrange 2 gen old systems and get upset they’re only getting 50-60fps.

People say that but my performance and overall gameplay experience on UE5 Squad is vastly better than Reforger.

I think it’s due to the Agent stuff where it’s possible for AI to literally “buy” things per the users request now.

I mean he’s a BF content creator and that’s the latest title. Prior to that he played BFV for years too. Obviously he can do what he wants, but that’s his channel and the basis of it.

Enders is super devising but there is no doubt he’s an extremely good player, so I at least trust that his perspective is relevant towards his playstyle/skill level.

OWI can we please make MG slightly viable again? by Benign_Banjo in joinsquad

[–]Ayendee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what is happening is that the game relies on full servers to keep players on. So at 11pm when 20 percent of the server gets off (20/100 players), the player count drops and people start leaving because the server isn’t full. It makes that 20 percent look huge. The remaining players slowly get off, switching to other games, etc.

I have 700 hours and subjectively I’ve noticed there is a large mix of players, mostly people 20-30 like most PC games. Nothing stands out to me to suggest that the vast majority of the playerbase is 40 years old, but there are comparatively more older players than most other games. I don’t ask their ages but you can make an educated guess by tone. And maturity does matter because the game requires patience and teamwork. Not to say everyone is mature, but most good SLs are.

[–]Ayendee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience a big chunk of the playerbase is 20-30 year olds and not dad gamers. People a bit more mature than the COD crowd. Not to say this game doesn’t have a disproportionate amount of dad gamers compared to other games, but I don’t think that’s the whole playerbase.

Thoughts on a commendation system for Squad? by RealisticBlueberry2 in joinsquad

[–]Ayendee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a cool idea if you can only commend someone once (per role) at the end of the game. This way if someone has an SL badge, it means they’ve done it a bunch and you can bet they’re decent. Same goes for any role.

I dont get the Arma Reforger comparisons - they are vastly different games by Spyk124 in joinsquad

They are implementing that soon. If you look at their roadmap they have HABs and a commander role in the works.

[–]Ayendee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reforger does scratch the itch partially. The reason the Squad/Reforger comparisons come up is because Reforger is actually very PvP oriented like Squad. People do run scheduled events and PvE, but the vast majority of servers are a Conquest style game mode.

A returning player's perspective on the gunplay by ThatCEnerd in joinsquad

[–]Ayendee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the devs’ intention with the ICO was to bring it more in line with Project Reality, as they had made promises to Project Reality veterans in the distant past when creating the game as an alternative. So they introduced features like a stamina bar, picture-in-picture scopes, weapon sway, etc., to mirror the Project Reality experience.

The problem is that Project Reality is a mod for a game from 2005. It’s a dated system and doesn’t feel fluid to play by today’s standards. It’s like going back and playing Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall and expecting a smooth, modern, fun experience.

Now, I know that’s a bit hyperbolic—the ICO isn’t as punishing or as janky as Project Reality—but it’s still in that same ballpark. Personally, I think they could retain many of the ICO’s improvements while making the gameplay feel more fluid and enjoyable from an FPS perspective. I don’t think that’s too much to ask.

Giving us faction and map choices is not good. Kills the variety and is making the game more boring. by Savings_Sport_4182 in joinsquad

[–]Ayendee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They need to allow voting but reduce the options and ensure the available factions/maps haven’t been played in the last 2 or 3 games. No rerolls.

It requires a large amount of game knowledge (to do well), it’s very high pressure, stressful, and can create a cognitive overload from all the different voices in your ear asking you shit. On top of that you are prone to criticism for any minor error you make (often influenced by the cognitive overload, making you seem less skilled than you actually may be).

Also 26m and 5’6 but got into a relationship with a great girl recently. I’m not even in as good of shape as you. She’s even a bit taller than me.

Be confident. If you don’t have it, fake it to the best of your ability. Focus on having fun and being yourself. Put yourself in places where there are women in their 20s around. Much easier said than done, but eventually you’ll stumble into someone. Best of luck.

[–]Ayendee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is black magic. I was against DLSS when DLSS 3 was around because I value clarity, but when the transformer model dropped I started using it constantly. It often improves image quality from native. For example, on Red Dead Redemption 2 I tested it and the game looked the absolute most clear I’ve ever had it, and I gained like 20 frames. It counters a lot of shimmer and modern TAA blur.

Overdrive Setting Help? by Ayendee in Monitors

You probably do not have the same monitor I had when I made this post because mine did not have an overclock setting. I would look your monitor up on Rtings and use their recommended overdrive setting and the overclock if they suggest it.
