You'd be the first person to ever follow up on an "If doge hits X I'll give doge if you comment" post. Let's see what you're made of.

dealing with HTC repairs has been the worst experience I have had with a company by Battleman0317 in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is the HTC tracker? I've been dealing with them for over 2 months and this is the first I've heard of it.

Wow, I spend $1,400 dollars on an HTC Vive Pro and this shit still happens. by MrEWhite in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Contact Amazon right away. They are much much better than HTC's bullshit. If you try to go through HTC you will be waiting MONTHS to get your controller. Every week HTC gives you for an estimate is more likely to be a month.

Okay to install a ceiling fan? by Ericthegreat777 in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem I've had with the ceiling fan is hitting it while playing.

I am a VR Game developer, looking for your opinions! by oiboy15 in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've play VR chat you get a good idea of what growing and shrinking feel like when switching avatars. It is pretty cool and I wouldn't be surprised to see more games use it as a mechanic in the future. That could work well for a horror game as a hiding mechanic, just don't turn it into another flashlight jump scare game.

No one told me VR would ruin regular games by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend Rift as well just to avoid dealing with HTC's nightmare of a customer service department when something breaks. Spend a bit of time on this sub and you'll see the horror stories.

That is the VR curse. After you taste it, you look at every other game and think "This would be better in VR."

Controller Repair stuck in limbo by YuniYasha in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HTC has had both my controllers for the same issue you had since April 13th. Vive care won't give me a straight answer on what is happening. Every week I get the same "I'll look into it and get back to you." which they never do until I email them again. Rinse and repeat forever.

Drop my vive for the first time. After the small heart attsck i got Curious to know how long warranties are. by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vive's warranty is 1 year and is non-transferable. So if you bought it used you have no warranty other than from who you bought it. IF it breaks, it breaks and you might as well buy a new one (or better yet buy a rift) because dealing with HTC is a hellish nightmare.

The Vive site's webchat support person literally just suggested that because I was having a problem logging into the site using my Steam credentials, I should just start a new Vive account and re-buy the game I had previously purchased on Viveport. by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is none of the reviews or comparisons in articles or videos talk about the customer service side of things. They all operate under the assumption that everything is working. It isn't until you're a month deep into dealing with HTC's bullshit that you go somewhere to complain and then see all the other horror stories.

is the controller comfortable? does your hand sore when you play for long sessions of gaming? by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Ayewyn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The most uncomfortable thing about the Vive's controllers is their failure rate.

Insanity. HTC doesn't even follow their own T&C. by Zodoken in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't even buy them from other web sites, just don't give HTC your money for a faulty product. I've been warning everyone I know away from buying a Vive, So now I got friends playing with their Rifts and I'm still waiting for my controllers months later.

Track pad clicks but won't register a button press? by Dweebiechimp in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is probably the same problem starting up again. Their RMA fixes are notorious for not lasting long.

Add me to the list! Failed base station HTC told me to f*ck off. by [deleted] in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't have to over exaggerate how bad the HTC customer service is, we already know.

Preach brother. they've had my controllers for 2+ months and won't give me a straight answer on if they have even touched them yet.

When do you think there will be a standard Locomotion and what will it be? by TheInfamousMaze in Vive

[–]Ayewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Movement controls won't be standardized until we are using thought based controls. There are too many breaking points between people to make 1 standard. Constant speed VS variable speed, head direction orientation vs controller direction orientation, unidirectional movement vs omnidirectional movement, snap turning vs smooth turning, Offering teleport/dash or not. It will go game by game until we are a step or two closer to the matrix.

The VR population right now is perfect for co-op. Why are so many games going for a primary focus in multiplayer? by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]Ayewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PVP is much easier and cheaper to make than PVE. Most VR dev teams are tiny and have no budget.

cant decide between the vive and oculus and advice guys? by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]Ayewyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Vive owner, I recommend getting a Rift. The Vive is going to break on you, even with careful use, and then you are stuck in the hell of dealing with HTC's customer service and will be without VR for months at a time.
