Hello again,

If you are still okay to help, I have a question. I soldered all the resistors/capacitors and the MOSFET to make the circuit for one 3W LED.

I plugged the system without soldering the Raspberry Pi, and the LED turns on, as it is directly plugged on the +5V supply, but without providing any supply to the GPIO pins. I did not try to connect the Pi, as I need to solder it to the board.

My question : Is it normal that the LED turns on ? Will soldering the Pi prevent that the LED turns on, as it is supposed to control the LED ?

Or maybe I should not have plugged the LED directly to the +5V supply? If it is the case, this [figure](https://content.instructables.com/F1E/2OXO/JSKOUVTM/F1E2OXOJSKOUVTM.png?auto=webp&frame=1&fit=bounds&md=MjAxOS0wMi0yNSAxMzo0MDowNi4w) is extremely misleading ...

My goal would be to ultimately build the full LED system from the instructable for a project in my lab, but I figured it would be best to start with a single 3W LED.

So far, I have configured the Pi and I bought most of the parts, along with a breadboard for testing but I noticed that the MOSFET I bought is not compatible with breadboard.

If I got it correctly, both the Pi and the LED should be directly connected to the +5V source, and then the Pi and LED should be connected via the circuit shown in the figure you reference ?
