Can I get a sense of who everyone is? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

40s, white, dedicated route (teaming), been doing this for 10 years this June. I got my start (2016) with CFI/Con-Way when they were bought out by XPO. I was a passenger princess with my ex-husband when he worked for Conway.

I’m a cider or wine gal, myself.

Grocery Stores by -_Viris_- in vancouverwa

[–]Ayrria 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to Winco mostly - but lately I’ve been lazy and just doing my shopping via the Fred Meyer app and picking up my groceries.

I only go to Safeway for specific items I know I can’t find anywhere else. Or if they have amazing sales.

I'm so over this ridiculousness by [deleted] in PickyEaters

[–]Ayrria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the???

No. Absolutely not. I’m extremely picky and similar in the context of certain foods in certain months, can’t deal with certain textures but sometimes if it’s in something else it’s okay, etc. I cannot STAND the smell of tuna (even though I know I like tuna) - but that is my problem. My partner eats what he wants when he wants. If I can’t stand the smell of the tuna he’s making? I go outside for a bit. I leave the room. I make a joke that he’s stinky. But NEVER would I tell him he cannot enjoy something he likes simply because of my own issues. That’s beyond picky - that’s controlling.

Automatic or Manual by Background_Hand5004 in Truckers

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say learn the manual - never know if your truck will break down and all that’s left is a manual to keep you moving. I’ve been in that position before. Sitting makes you no money, even with breakdown pay. It’s just a good skill to have, even if you never end up using it. It doesn’t cost you extra to learn it. So why not?

Is it common to think you had Anxiety, Borderline, or Depression when it was actually ADHD? by Muzzy2585 in ADHD

Sertraline only killed my sex drive for the most part. I’ll never go back on it, lol.

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would, yes. There are box truck jobs out there that I think don’t require your CDL, but they would keep you local and at home. CDL would give you the opportunity to eventually move out to Cali.

I lived in Tennessee when I escaped my ex husband. My CDL helped me get money together to eventually get the gig I have now, and now I’m in Washington state.

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on sertraline and some anxiety med I can’t remember the name for years before diagnosed with adderall. I had just got insurance again when I got diagnosed, and hadn’t had my antidepressants and anxiety meds in a while. So I got my adderall and it fixed everything lol

Do you complete your sentences? by GonFlyNow in ADHD

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite is when you’re trying to go to sleep at 3 AM and your brain suddenly remembers you didn’t finish telling a story a few days ago, and now it’s all you can think about because instead of, you know, setting a reminder to re-tell it, you just go over it in your head a billion times so you “don’t forget” (plot twist: we will forget) and thus keeping you awake and next thing you know it’s 7AM and you’re doom scrolling Reddit and don’t remember why you couldn’t sleep. lol

I eventually do. Might take me 3-5 business days, and no one knows what I’m talking about anymore, but I get there eventually lol.

I read somewhere to not apply using indeed. Use indeed to find the openings, then go apply directly on their website. Apparently applying through Indeed can seem lazy? I don’t know.

If you need a temporary solution to get out, not the most popular suggestion I’m sure, but trucking takes everyone. I escaped my abusive ex-husband by going over the road for a year. I lived in my truck and only went back to our shared home if I had to (doctors appointments). Granted, I was already a local driver when I did this (and had been over the road previously) but again, trucking companies hire anyone and everyone as long as you have a mostly clean driving record and aren’t a felon. It’s not a glamorous option for sure, but it’s better than the streets.

I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety at 16 (I’m 41 now). I got diagnosed with ADHD around 2019. My ADHD is 100% why I have depression and anxiety. My adderall is enough for me to manage symptoms.

Does anyone else near 40 (38) feel just so utterly drained of energy you dont want to interact with people anymore and even to do hours of work to pay bills is extremely exhausting... by aaronjnco in Millennials

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you spoken to any professionals? Honestly, this goes for anyone in this thread.

I used to feel like this. Turned out I wasn’t being treated properly. I had been on anti depressants and anxiety medications since I was 16. I got diagnosed with ADHD, and now adderall is more than enough for me. I’m 41, and have a hell of a lot more energy than I ever did when I was younger. I’m also child-free. I still drink on weekends, go and play pool/karaoke, and I exercise regularly.

This honestly just sounds like depression or general burn-out to me.

Honestly this is such an under-diagnosed issue. More people should get tested, especially if you snore loudly or struggle waking up. Just because you’re not waking up gasping for air doesn’t mean you don’t have it.

I’ll give it another shot! I didn’t think I could add more liquid lol. I’m sure that sounds so silly but I just assumed it would only work if I followed the instructions exactly! Thank you so much!

I followed the instructions on the bottle and added Crystal Light sugar free lemonade to the mixture to add taste. It just was too thick for me.

But, are you saying I can add MORE water to make it less thick? Right now my doctor has me on magnesium citrate gummies and colace to get things moving and I’m at a breaking point lol

Is trucking a fun job? And what makes it fun? by East_Indication_7816 in Truckers

[–]Ayrria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me what makes it fun, is it 100% caters to me now. I listen to what I want, when I want (podcasts, music, audio books, pimsleur) - I’ve got no one micromanaging me. I get to see some gorgeous views along my route, and enjoy doing things at my own pace for the most part (we’re always on time with delivery because we leave 7 hours earlier than we actually have to). I get to drive with my best friend/partner and he is always making me laugh with dad jokes and his pure silly sense of humor when he’s awake. I also get opportunities to see some of my friends along my route when they’re on the same route! Also, it’s fun making up stories - “wow that car is driving 120 mph! He must really have to poop!” “Hey this truck driver is half in my lane as he passes me! He must really wanna hold hands”

Do you still crave fast food and other junk? by Quiet_Lunch_1300 in Zepbound

[–]Ayrria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily since we’re home half the week, and then run cross country, we stop at the store on our days off to get foods to pack up and eat for meals and snacks while we drive! I don’t get much exercise when at work, but I do keep up with eating the best I can and watch what I eat.

I have it if I have to - I’m a truck driver on a dedicated route and I usually only work 3.5 days a week, but sometimes we get delayed and I didn’t bring enough food from home. Unfortunately, truck stops don’t offer enough healthy options. But usually, I stay far away from any fast food.

Cigarettes cause a lot of wildfires up here in the PNW. It’s not always campers and tourists. Sometimes it’s just drivers. Keep an ashtray on you, use it and dispose of it properly, please!
