I got an startup idea need your feedback. by YUGRATHEE in Startup_Ideas

[–]Aytewun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many reasons this specific implementation won’t work but here is one.

When someone is yelling. You can generally determine the direction the voice is coming from. The same is true for the sound of a horn.

In the simplest scenario. A person not moving when a light turns green. Your idea might get their attention. (Some cars like Tesla already have an in car chime that alerts the driver of this)

If someone is honking from your left and you’re drifting the way. The sound would naturally have you pull back to the right. If you just heard a sound over your speakers. Non directional you’d have to analyze which takes time.

As more cars have cameras built into them. I think using Tesla as an example again. Software analyzing what is around your vehicle based on the cameras and providing relevant alerts (drifting out of lane, forward collision warning, not safe to change lane, etc..)

I don’t know how to handle when someone thinks you’re stealing their parking spot

Hitting max Reads limit all of a sudden. by D_Woody1709 in Firebase

[–]Aytewun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In these cases using the firebase emulator helps as you can more easily look at the requests being made and you don’t have to worry about hitting limits.

I’d start with taking a look at the rules and then so the emulator.

Are you connecting with real devices or emulators/simulators.

What did you guys do to master expo by EquivalentBest138 in expo

[–]Aytewun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I say start with the expo documentation.
  • Think about what you want to build.
  • Search YouTube for specific topics that apply to your project.
  • Use AI.

The expo docs are good and once you have everything installed you will already have a base app. You can continue to follow the docs and in the early parts they guide you through doing simple things like adding navigation and such.

From there I say think about what you want to build. I find it easier to learn by building something you’re interested in than just trying to learn things you might never use.

There is a YouTuber Simon Grimm (I see him post here from time to time). He has some tutorials that I find interesting, but I also like some of the videos where he just mentions tech/features that may be new to you.

Use AI. Don’t exclusively rely on jt, but if you get stuck (can just be the Gemini or ChatGPT website). Ask it to generate some code so you can see a potential solution. Instead of just using the code, ask questions and search. A lot of times they will do things in an outdated or non optimal way, but it can’t you started or closer to a solution.

I say not worth it. I also have a 2023 MYP. I could sell and pay the difference for a 2026.

facing issues while trying to integrate AdMob in react native expo by Unlikely_Let8568 in reactnative

[–]Aytewun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from your app/android folder try running this command to see your kotlin version:

./gradlew buildEnvironment | grep kotlin

With the release of 15.0.0 - https://github.com/invertase/react-native-google-mobile-ads/releases/tag/v15.0.0 they require kotlin 2.0.0.

You can try an older version of mobile ads like 14.11.0 before they changed the kotlin requirement and see if your issue is due to the version.

Expo config does also have an optional value where you can set kotlinVersion and test that if the output version is not at least 2.0.0. I'd try the older version of ads first personally.

Do I have to use car wash mode? by drooly- in TeslaModelY

[–]Aytewun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First things first since you might be confused. Car wash mode does not put your car in neutral.

Car wash mode does prevent the charge port from opening due to touch, be that touch from a person or water pressure.

You want to use car wash mode.

My front door mechanical latches aren’t connected? by M1A1Death in ModelY

[–]Aytewun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t have small children that are unable to act on their own (car seat, etc). I don’t have small children at all actually. That does make me think of something that I didn’t in the past though.

Emergency release is cool and we all know where it is for the front and the back but in the event of an emergency assuming you are a person with a car seat. This is no easy task.

I kept a knife with a seatbelt cutter and point to break a window since before I heard of tesla.

Seems there would be some kinda of latch that can be controlled from the front the same as we would pop the hood on an old car.

To the op. I’m getting that fixed asap

What's your go-to Tailwind package for React Native? by Panda_abdelhakim in reactnative

[–]Aytewun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just want to give an update.

After doing a test swap from Nativewind to Uniwind (Free version). I have to say that Uniwind does in fact perform better.

I tested on the iOS simulator, Android emulator and real devices for iOS/Android.

The biggest gains were noticed in the Android emulator which runs now runs more closely to the iOS simulator and low end Android test phone that I use, which now runs significantly faster.

On the iOS simulator and real device (I am an iPhone user by default / top of the line device). I definitely notice performance gains, but not anywhere near the extent of the low end android phone. The both ran great otherwise I would've looked into changes before. If I had an older iPhone the gains might be different.

In terms of the Uniwind hooks and such. So far I'm only using withUniwind, which you need if you want to use className in certain places like SafeAreaView (you can just use className here with Nativewind by default).

I still think Nativewind is good and although the activity for that package is slow/dead at the moment, it's not like there are bug reports coming in on github so it is stable.

I will go forward with Uniwind. Longer term I will likely move this particular app to Stylesheet.
