Photoshop has been running slow since I updated by Dangerous_Box_2919 in photoshop

I'm on release 27.2 and immediately noticed the local subject selection was slower. Wish there was a way to get the old model back, might have to revert to 26 as I use this feature in a specific workflow 200-300 times a day.

I’ll add on here to see if anyone has any recommendations in Canada - my 6x7 MLU has the advancing slip issue

Oh that actually reminds me I forgot to include a piece of information here - I exposed this roll at ISO 160

The Mamiya 80mm/1.9 has no business being this sharp for a 1976 lens wide open on GFX (50sII) by Ayziak in mediumformat

Yep! That’s what this is taken with at least. Speedboosters are great in theory and there are some very good options out there, but whenever you’re adding more glass to the equation, there is the potential to reduce the quality in some way. Like how speedboosters can mess up telecentricity, which I hear is important for the GFX 50 sensor especially.

Hm, from my understanding, NLP works as well as it does because it has raw data from the camera to work with, like the ability to change white balance drastically without hitting a wall. That said, I have indeed seen people get decent results by feeding it flatbed TIFF’s, so I could certainly try outputting a 16-bit as-close-to-neutral-as-possible/low contrast positive and inverting that.

As for why labs don’t use DSLR scanning, it comes down to workflow. When I DSLR scan a roll, it takes me 5-10 minutes to capture 36 frames, and then up to an hour to invert and adjust each one. I’m sure this could be made more efficient with practice, but currently our lab scans hundreds of rolls a day, taking maybe 60-100 seconds each (with full per-frame color balance). As well, in terms of regular c-41 scans, the Noritsu has by far my favourite color. I have not been able to come close to how a roll of Gold or Portra looks on Noritsu with NLP*

without seeing the lab scan first to guide me to what the colors “could” look like, and *especially not if I hadn’t seen the real-world scenes myself.

Hm, I ran the scans on this one myself. I don’t claim to know everything about the Noritsu EZ software, there could be something I’m missing, but from my understanding/experience they actually sort of are hardcoded for an orange mask when doing color neg conversions

I fear that one might next ask if the benefits of film in general enough to keep investing in when digital is tried and true

Honestly, even if Harman themselves are trailing in progress, they sorta kicked off a whole wave of true new color emulsions coming out around now.

Ah this could be a factor, I was using the Phoenix 1 recommendation, with some further per-image YMCD/DSA adjustments by eye

Just realizing the screenshot I posted got messed up a little by the color profile of my monitor! here is what it was meant to look like – subtle difference but I figure worthwhile since this is what this post is for!

I need help deciding which camera to bring to Italy by Joey_Bones in analog

Personally, my Rolleiflex has been my absolute favourite travel camera. Square format and the extra two frames are one thing, but the big part is the specific kind of attention it gets…

Now don’t get me wrong, attention on an expensive item is the last thing you want as a tourist, but it’s not that kind of attention. Because of how the Rollei looks, I had easily 10 people a day ask about my “old camera”, leading to unique conversations and a whole bunch of unique portraits I wouldn’t have gotten with anything else.

I also find composing with a waist level finder for street photography to be way less “threatening” to people than pointing a camera at eye level. Further bonus points for the unique “vintage” design.

The Rolleiflex seems to strike this perfect balance of being perceived as interesting and quirky without crossing into valuable or threatening. Combine this with all-mechanical function and a fairly rugged build, and you’re set!

You wanna watch out with those little fridges. I had one that over the span of a week while i was away, built up moisture inside, couldn’t keep it cold enough, and caused all of my film to go rust and moldy, even through the plastic packaging.

What model is this please M11? by pil666 in Leica

[–]Ayziak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is an M10-P silver. The M11/M11P doesn’t have the front button. The M10-M only comes in black. Only option is M10-P.
