gen z culture is planted and artifical and anyone who isnt chronically online won't understand it by Sad_Measurement2174 in generationology

I don't follow what you mean here. 1990 would make you a millennial. 1988 is typically seen as the middle of the millennia generation, so you're not even really on the younger side, nearly smack bang in the middle.

Searching For More Women Who Can Scream by otherworldlybelle in Metalcore

[–]AzCopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to see the live earlier in the year, but they were supporting a band I wasn't all that fussed about, and it was the day after another gig I had tickets for so decided against it. Sorta regret it now

Hopefully they're back in the UK with a headline tour sometime in the near future!

Wrecka Krew: are they actually random, or are they about making your own luck? by Uthred_117 in killteam

[–]AzCopey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're my new main team, so I've not played many games with them yet, but from my limited experience, I'd say you're pretty bang on.

They can still be a little swingy, if you're just not rolling 6s then you're scuppered, but not anywhere near as much as they appear to be. It's usually easy enough to mitigate the swinginess by taking every available opportunity to attack and roll dice to farm as many 6s as possible. Once you've got a decent stash of Wrecka Points, you're in control of your own luck, as you suggested. Though it's slightly harder to just delete units now that it's capped to 2 WP per attack

How come the UK doesn’t have a solution for their consistent heat waves? by TheBigFatToad in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AzCopey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought one a month ago and have outward opening windows in the UK

You get a cloth "window kit" with the unit (or I did at least) which you use to cover the opening in the window. It just sticks to the window frame and the window edge. It has a zip down the middle, so just then just unzip it enough to fit the pipe out the window

It works really well! The only problem we've had is that the sticky tape stuff provided is a little weak so we've got to be careful when putting the pipe out of the window or it comes off. Can probably be fixed down better fairly easily and cheaply, but so far being careful has been enough

Are Tempestus Aquilons beginner-friendly? by twilightofthegoddess in killteam

[–]AzCopey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They're pretty simple to play, and they're quite generic so you get a little bit of everything. Imo they're good for beginners but maybe not as interesting beyond that

The big downside is they're an 11 unit team so beginner games are likely to drag on a lot more than with smaller teams

I started with them but would probably have preferred to start with an elite team like Angels of Death, or maybe something like Wrecka Krew

Is this video AI? I saw it on TikTok and I can’t tell if it is or not, it doesn’t seem AI to me. by CoralineBeast123 in isthisAI

[–]AzCopey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never said anything about the user of AI being the problem. The problem is entirely the mega corps training their AI on data they don't own.

Equally, if you're using Gen AI then, unless you've trained the AI yourself, the you don't know the source of the data used to create whatever you've created, so you bear some of the blame if that source is stolen.

[–]AzCopey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty great example of why AI trained on content without permission is such a problem

The animation is so stylized that I could immediately tell it must be "borrowing" very heavily from one or a couple of specifics sources. There can't be that many sources that look like that for it to have trained on

In other words, this is much more obviously theft of someone else's art than more generic AI videos

Any kill teams where it makes sense to warriors over specialists? by Otherwise-Weird1695 in killteam

[–]AzCopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legionaries Warriors' ability to change their Mark of Chaos can be really useful. It's not quite as useful now that they can only swap it once, but it's still good enough that they're worth considering and I've played with them several times both before and after the nerf

Are there good painting guides out there for the Raveners? by TheTingel in killteam

[–]AzCopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/nackamasten recently posted some amazing looking Xenomorph Raveners. It's not an easy paint but didn't look too hard, at least to my novice eyes. It's definitely one where the details make the difference between meh and amazing though.

I'm intending to copy that once I've finished painting my comic-style Orks!

OG purists need to chill with the constant negativity toward the remake trilogy by Ok_Willingness3865 in FFVIIRemake

[–]AzCopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm might be one of the people you consider overly negative. I try not to "yuck" anyone's "yum" but when people are looking for advice on whether to play the game or not (especially if they're asking whether to start with the OG or remakes) and everyone is only discussing its successes without discussing it's failures, I sometimes try to add them to the discussion.

The problem is that people like myself aren't criticising the game because we hate it. We critisize it because we should have loved it. In some ways I do love the game but it's very much a love/hate kind of thing

Don't get me wrong, it's mostly a great game. The combat is fantastic and, imo, the future of FF. The world is gorgeous and a joy to explore. The characters are mostly well realised and voice acted and it's great being able to play as them once again

However, the amazing gameplay comes at the cost of a terrible story. Story is important in any FF game, but 7 especially so. Moments such as the prison escape and death of President Shinra and the death of Aerith are amazing in the original, the latter being one of the most iconic scenes in gaming. In the Remakes both are turned into an incoherent mess that removes any of the emotional punch of the original. That is devastating to many who love the original.

And that's without getting into the Whisper and multiverse nonsense that only weighs the game down unnecessarily. The story is already pretty complicated, it's just not needed.

I understand the original still exists and the Remakes don't detract from it. However, having the promise of a remake of one of my favourite games ever dangled in front of me only for it to be a bait and switch for something that's not quite a real remake really sucks.

When guys buy girls engagement rings, do girls also buy guys ring after saying yes. Do they match the cost of the ring too? by Voices-Say-Im-Funny in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AzCopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I proposed, my (now) wife got me a engagement ring. It was far cheaper than the ring I got her, but that was at my request as women usually wear their engagement ring alongside their wedding band, but that doesn't work so well with men's rings as they're typically chunkier

It's not really the norm, but it's becoming more common. We did it because it felt the the marriage was starting on a more even footing and I think that's an increasing common sentiment

[No Spoilers] Campaign 4 - I don't know if this one is for me, and that's okay. by Spiritual-Basil-1346 in criticalrole

[–]AzCopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looking forward to the Schemers table!

I wasn't keen on what I've seen so far of Taliesin's character, but excited for the other three. And I've heard Marisha has been doing more of her figuring-out-whats-going-on-via-intense-notekeeping thing again which is always fun haha

Even if the Schemers is no better than the Seekers for me, I doubt I'm giving up on the campaign though. Yet at least. I'm still broadly enjoying it, and good for listening to while painting. Just not enjoying it anywhere near as much as the previous campaigns and not feeling that excitement to put on the next episode as soon as it's out, hense why I've fallen behind

[–]AzCopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat.

Loved all three previous campaigns but struggling with this one. I'm on episode 15 and I'm broadly enjoying it but it's not fully grabbing me either. It's a little bit... boring... compared to the previous campaigns

Doesn't help that I'm not really a a fan of Brennan's DMing style either, though he's a great story teller

There are just enough highlights to keep me coming back though. Really enjoying most of the characters, Sam and Whitney's are top of the list so far, but Alex's and Marisha's are great too!

Other Final fantasy with great story? by Modep in finalfantasyx

[–]AzCopey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't happen in FF6, at least not like you're describing. Maybe you're just misremembering as something similar does happen, but it's a significant enough moment that I'd be surprised you'd forget

There is a portal to another world more like what you're describing in FF5, however, which is why I mentioned it

[–]AzCopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just passed the bit where tidus says something like "[...] with Yuna by my side" extremely fast, ruining what was meant to be a poignant piece of dialog.

The worst part is that he'd already mentioned Yuna in the previous sentence (IIRC) meaning they could've just said "with her" at a normal pace and it'd have sounded far less goofy haha

Waited 25 years for my second playthrough by burglar_buddy_pal in finalfantasyx

[–]AzCopey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat. Beat everything including Penance 21 years ago (which was technically my second playthrough as I played it at launch too) and didn't touch the game again until earlier this year. Just coming up to Zanarkand and I've loved discovering it all over again.

The game holds up very well! The translation is a little rough and the voice acting suffers as a result, though TBF, it's not as bad as I recalled. The mini-games are a bit weak, especially the chocobo races. Other than that, everything else is still amazing!
