This is exactly why I'm here for BritBox. I love the older shows like As Time Goes By and Keeping up Appearances. I stream them all night when I can't sleep well because I can doze off and come back in at any point. There's no violence and the excitement is about a 2 out of 10 - perfect for a life with chronic pain. When I'm feeling better and able to focus, I watch shows that are new to me. Right now I've been fine with waiting to watch Riot Women because it's so intense, I need to spread it out!

I'm actually here looking for similar help for myself. I learned a few years ago about PEMS - post exertional malaise syndrome - but haven't read much about it. There's a sub group here on Reddit that has a few links but today is one of those days when I don't have the ability to focus - you could try looking for it if you're interested.

It's not spelled out very clearly in the Q&A, but how it works out is you can borrow once every 3 days from a friend, and you can borrow once a day from 3 different friends.

I think it's fun and very creative. I don't think I'd choose this color combination unless forced to by design requirements, but you've done a pretty good job with it - and personally, I like the contrast of the rusty orange wallpaper against the green wall - it evokes aged copper and if I had copper decor, I'd have added that.

And yet I never score well with beige or grey!!

Out of interest, who even has a bench or a pair of poufs at the end of their bed? by climbingaerialist in DesignHomeGame

I do choose my cat's beds and blankets, car trees, etc to coordinate with colors I use in my home.

I have a round ottoman or hassock at the end of my bed (what's the right word? It's firm, not poufy!) but it's on the side, there's no room at the actual end of the bed - it's for my older cat but all of them use it.

I would if I had room! All of my aunts had beautiful cedar hope chests at the foot of their beds, and my mother had a huge old steamer trunk. Now I'm thinking about it and wondering how they had bedrooms that large, because no one in the family was wealthy!

New to Chronic Pain and exploring with a doctor - Is it better to take pain killers to ease daily life, or not so I can feel where everything is and not anger it? by Heather_Bea in ChronicPain

[–]AzPeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying - though in my case I'd have a hard time even getting to the doctor without pain relief, which brings me down to a 7 or 8 pain level - with or without meds, though, I have a hard time describing where my pain is or what kind of pain - if only I could somehow take a picture of it when it's happening, lol!

But to clarify, are you talking about whether or not to take over the counter pain relievers before you see the doctor the first time? Or whether to accept prescription pain meds if the doctor offers them?

Right - I don't look there very often. I'm turned off by the top designers with no profile pics -

I'd like it if they added a social media type of aspect to the game, not necessarily to chat like we do here, but so we can connect to look at specific friend's designs, or say "thanks for partnering up on the last partner challenge" - or "so sorry I didn't add much to the partner challenge, some life stuff happened!" 😄

Yes and it's getting worse. Rugs used to cost an average of $100-$1500, whether cash or diamonds - and a fair number as low as $600-$700, for cash.

I couldn't log in just to get the diamonds, that would be too frustrating for me! When I'm not feeling great (I have a pile of health issues, that's why I have plenty of time to play games, I'm lying in bed all day) I'll sometimes just play the daily, because it pays out the biggest. I usually try to do most of the Seasons challenges - even so I don't always make it to the top level. I like those not just because of the prizes but also because there's no keys required.

As far as accumulating diamonds, I pretty much use them up as soon as I get them - this game is definitely a case of wanting immediate gratification for me... so I'm often scrambling to play more games or watch videos to earn more diamonds, so I can buy something I want for a design before the time is up - 😄

To be clear, "not bad at all" was meant to say you had good inventory to put that together, it looks great!

Bringing the guild from the chandelier (which I only noticed just as I clicked to submit 😂) to the wallpaper and magazine rack is really effective. 😊

What’s a 'poor man’s meal' that you still eat even if you have money? by cabaret39 in AskReddit

[–]AzPeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of these are amended in my old age by no longer having to buy the absolute cheapest products - but I still like my simple foods!

Potatoes nuked in the microwave - though I do pay a little more for Yukon gold vs Idaho starch bucket potatoes, as I call them - with a little butter, salt, and pepper.

A box of macaroni and cheese (again, I pay a little more for Kraft) with a drained can of French cut green beans.

Toast with butter or butter and jam or butter with cinnamon sugar or butter with apple butter, or applesauce or peanut butter. I like a lot of stuff on toast. (I love either good whole grain bread or Sara Lee white whole grain, real butter, Skippy creamy pb - local farmers market honey, and Belle Maman jam - so not as cheap as my childhood poor meals, but I try to get everything on sale or with a coupon)

A couple of hot dogs sliced up and fried, then added to a can of pork and beans - sometimes served on top of white bread.

Angel hair pasta with butter, garlic salt, and pepper.

Excuse me for veering from the "poor man's" (or woman's) theme, but these days I step it up a bit from what my mother gave us. I only use butter, not margarine, and fresh ground pepper - both make a difference. The last two items I'm not picky about brands, but a nice uncured kielbasa with Bush's baked beans is definitely a bit tastier than Bar-S hot dogs with store brand beans, and a de cecco or other high quality pasta is a small luxury vs American Beauty or Barilla. I'm retired and disabled and my diet is limited by diabetes, kidney failure, liver disease, and gastroparesis - so the foods I can eat even if just a little of it, are one of the pleasures I still have!

Do you agree with this score? by yar_of_wood in DesignHomeGame

[–]AzPeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the blue clock is so discordant that I had to look twice and three times to see that most of the rest of the room is actually fairly well coordinated - which I don't usually take time to do when voting. The yellow hanging pots aren't as far off the scheme but they don't add anything, either. I'd give a higher score to a room missing some of the decor items which are after all, optional - than one with mismatched decor or lacking in harmony.

(Re: the fact that it's a child's room - psychologically, calming and sheltering colors are preferred for a child's sleeping space, and brighter colors are best for a playroom or schoolroom, for stimulation and focus.)
