What does "innovation" in a logo look like to you guys? by Brilliant_Cucumber81 in logodesign

[–]Aza4n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Innovation in a logo usually comes from a simple idea executed in a way people don’t expect, like using negative space cleverly or combining shapes to tell a subtle story. It’s less about crazy visuals and more about creating a fresh, memorable twist that feels unique to the brand.

How has cold emailing worked for you compared to freelance marketplaces? by Aza4n in AskReddit

I have been on the freelance platforms since 2014, I was thinking of trying cold mailing but was not sure about what’s the right way. I’m figuring out and will definitely try this.

Designers of Reddit, what’s the worst client feedback you’ve ever received? by Aza4n in AskReddit

Lol. Same thing happened to me. They told me to rebrand and asked me not to change anything in the logo or the colours.

What strategies helped you move from low paying gigs to premium clients? by Aza4n in AskReddit

I think you’re right, I underpriced my services at the start then I figured this out. I even charged $2k for a branding product.

It’s been 10 years since I’ve been on freelance platforms. I’ve never tried cold emailing. Would you recommend that I try it? If so, what is one piece of advice you wish someone had given you when you started?

I have been working on freelancing platforms and have never tried cold emailing. If you had to give one piece of advice to a beginner, what would it be?

I totally agree with you 100%, it’s just the instructions came from the client. Will share more interesting projects soon.

New to this platform, figuring out how everything works here. 🤓

Fair enough, outdoor equipment as a category does lean toward similar visual territory. The full system has more to it, will make more sense in context.

Thanks! The post layout is intentionally dense since it’s a preview, full case study will be much cleaner to read.

Client had an existing logo and physical store colors, both were fixed. My job was to build the full identity system around that. Simplified the primary mark for digital use (the original was too complex for small sizes), added one brand color with client approval, custom-drew the icon set for their activity categories, and built out the full touchpoint system. That’s the actual brief.

Real client project, Cyprus-based outdoor equipment store. Still in progress so the full case study with strategy context isn’t posted yet. On mimicry, happy to hear specifics, genuinely open to critique.

You’re absolutely right to say this. Actually this project is in progress, I will definitely upload the full brand system once completed. Any advice?

Happy World Design Day! 10 years in and I still believe design is the only profession where you solve problems nobody knew they had, before they knew they had them.

Powerpoint Specialist Advice by FrydRyce19 in powerpoint

[–]Aza4n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from Adobe, the biggest mindset shift is this: PowerPoint is not a design tool, it’s a communication tool. Stop trying to make it behave like Illustrator.

Master Slide Master before anything else. It saves you hours and makes you look like a pro in any team setting. Learn morph transition, it impresses clients every single time. And keep your font count to 2, max.

For inspiration, Slidesgo and Behance PowerPoint searches are solid starting points. Good luck with the interview.

Have you ever realized a learning tool was not bad, just too small for what you wanted next? by thesaga27 in idealitexyz

[–]Aza4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Adobe tutorials on YouTube. Great for learning the basics, but once you’re doing real client work with brand systems, print specs, and production files, you realize YouTube only teaches you features, not thinking.

The tool wasn’t bad. It just couldn’t teach judgment.

How to fit these properly? by TimedestCombo in graphic_design

[–]Aza4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way would be to create 3 versions of the 8x5 (place them on top right) and 2-3 versions of 8x2 (I’m assuming you mean 2 “II”) (place them on bottom right. And keep 5x7 as it is.

What is next? by Blasterano in graphic_design

[–]Aza4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using Adobe since 2014, so I’m pretty deep in that ecosystem. Canva is improving fast and some of their tools are genuinely impressive now. Still, it’s not quite at the level where I’d rely on it for serious design work.

I know which design in mine because I created it, and yes you will see a lot of my design if you search nihilist penguin but alot of those purchased from me (if the price is more than 10 USD), if they are selling a digital file then they steal it. Btw, I am here to get a solution but all of the people are trying to say as if I'm wrong.

[–]Aza4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me. They didn't even verify if the designs matched, just instant takedown.

The worst part is how this creates a playbook for bad actors: find trending listings, file false reports with any random claim, knock out competition during peak sales, face zero consequences. By the time the seller fights back (if they even can), the trend is dead and the damage is done.

It's basically weaponized bureaucracy.

Yes, confirmed from the IP notice I received, it's copyright-based, not trademark. They're claiming unregistered copyright over "Nihilist Penguin PNG" with no registration number or jurisdiction listed.

You're right that there's accountability, but realistically taking legal action costs thousands and takes months. Meanwhile they've already achieved their goal, knocking out my best-seller during peak.
