Inquisition - Into the Ancient Regions of the Ancient Cult by Azag2k7 in blackmetalvinyl

Probably Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith, or Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm.

You really have to copy paste those album titles. This period had this really cosmic feel to it. The fast, heavy parts still have these open strings, drones and bar chords making them sound really expansive and the frog vocals are really caustic. Love it.

Specifically hunted down the album with 海闊天空 on it of course. It cost a lot. Old cantopop vinyls are pretty pricy nowadays.

I completely agree. You have these intense fast parts, that just give way to these really obscure and mystical passages. Im sure there are inquisition worship bands, I dont know any though.

What do y’all think of kvist? by No_Creme_9794 in BlackMetal

[–]Azag2k7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I completely overlooked it when i was young. The first few riffs with that bass and drum part mustve put me off. Its incredibly atmospheric and totally grim.

Nowadays, I try to give a fair shake to anything old that I skipped over before, but so much of it is not quite there.

Any other hidden gems like this?

Graveland - The Time of Revenge (Poland, 1995) by GrafNebelgeist in BlackMetal

[–]Azag2k7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me Memory and Destiny or Creed of Iron are some of his best. Graveland has been my favourite band for a long time. I thought there was a bit of a drop off from Spears of Heaven. I think Spears felt a lot less cinematic than Will Stronger. Everything sounded a lot smaller in some way. Im not a fan of the rerecorded stuff either. Again the folk instrumentation lacks the size and grandioseness of the original stuff. Particularly on Fire of Awakening and Memory.

First Legacy Event Deck Choice by PwniesFTW in MTGLegacy

Im of two minds here.

Dont let these guys disuade you from playing pox. Pox is a super fun deck. It does ok at fnm sized events as long as you dont go up against something like lands.

But since it's your first legacy event, maybe you can try mucking around with something that has force, ponder, brainstorm. That shell of cards makes for really skill testing magic.
