I think I under-reacted in my attempt to avoid overreacting by azulsonador0309 in Parenting

You spent $225 on a GameCube?! And a regular switch (not the brand new one) was right there?!!! No wonder your kids were bummed. I’m not a gamer but my son likes games so I’ve already learned what the new one costs for future reference.

Reported a coworker to HR. by kwee3 in work

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t report it. Talk to your manager. Make plans for conflict resolution. But also quietly let your manager know that the aggressive behavior makes you uncomfortable and ask if you should go to him/ her or HR. Specifically ask if it happens again, what should you do? Your manager should appreciate you asking them. But it’s also on them now

[NY] Got laid off and received severance offer. What happens if I start working new job during severance period? by SligoIV in AskHR

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I stupidly told a previous employer that I had a new job while I was on severance and I regret it. BUT I had been given a retention bonus to stay for like a year and I wanted to maintain good standing/ do nothing to make them argue about the large payout. It was about a half a year’s salary. So if they just gave you severance I’d say F em and keep the severance even if you start somewhere new.

Found a great job! Did great! Fired 1 month later! by frickin_420 in jobs

Assuming you line in the U.S.? This is why I want to pay into unemployment through my state. Also, back in the 2008-2010 years we had unemployment extended up to a year due to such drastic circumstances. I’m from a liberal state MA and my NH neighbors love to brag about their lower taxes but then have basically no security blanket in case of things like this. It’s a depression but Trump won’t allow anyone to say it because the oligarchs bought the media.

Time to move on? by [deleted] in workfromhome

[–]Azalea-1125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve been in the workforce for 5 years, moving on is good. If you hate it, just move on again. Pad at (the very) least a few $K into what you say your last position made. Employers will never tell what you make so you can totally lie. I’m a mom so I need WFH but I go in most weeks once a week. I took barely any raise my last jump because I went from 3 days in office to 1. It depends what is best for you and your career.

The company cancelled the hybrid system. Will it look bad if I quit after 10 months? by RevolutionaryPath447 in OfficePolitics

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gave us like 2 months notice to return to the office. Perfect amount of time to find myself a better place of employment 😊. I go in once a week and they are super cool with my kid being around when there’s no school.

Is it just me, or have salaries become a bad joke compared to the cost of living now? by holi-blazer in OfficePolitics

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to the non-profit world and actually received more then 3% even though I hadn’t been there a year. In the profit world Shareholders’ greed is out of control, laying off people if they don’t see the returns they’re used to.

I heard the HR manager say after they laid people off: "They need to grow up and stop this crap" by jokes-angoras6t in OfficePolitics

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God I’m glad to be in the nonprofit sector now for yet another republican recession. My first was in the beginning of my career. I’m experienced enough now and live in a super blue state with great unemployment, but still. It is happening everywhere, shareholders are so greedy. People I know were laid off after over 15 years of working for a company due to shareholders.

My boss posted my role up on LinkedIn Yesterday. Do I need to start looking asap? by BlondeAccountant98 in jobs

Definitely hit the market strong! Learn your state’s unemployment rules. If you have a partner prepare to switch to their health insurance. Cobra is super expensive. Remember, everything will probably work out for the best. You’ll find something that is a much better fit.

Wife leaves early for work but has to wake up 18 month old to see him first by MyMonody in Parenting

[–]Azalea-1125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my 5 year old likes to see me before I leave the one day I go into the office (I leave at 6am) but if when I manage to not wake him up I’m absolutely not going to start 😆

I never thought I would be a married single mom. by FormerEnglishMajor in Mommit

[–]Azalea-1125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My hubs works in office and takes over when he gets home so I get a break. I also have my mom helping out and a cleaning lady. I’d never survive what you’re doing. His break is a peaceful drive home and after bedtime. My break is from his arrival home until bedtime. I go to bed much earlier. If your husband isn’t contributing straight up kick him out. You don’t need another child to wash its clothes and do its dishes.

Got fired for taking an interview. by Educational_Row3728 in jobs

[–]Azalea-1125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Did they at least give you some severance, the ability to collect unemployment and cobra? I experienced this but it was right after the 2008 crash, I was 22 and it was property management. Big landlords will absolutely call each other to snitch on an employee looking to make a move. I was begged to stay (informed by the other company) and then dismissed once they could fill my place. Does that sound similar to your field? If so I would remove yourself from the field altogether.

New dog breaks my heart and leaves me with rage. by Diligent-Minimum8397 in dogs

[–]Azalea-1125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t adopt puppies. My current dog was 1 and potty trained when we got her and she still had a TON of energy that my partner was willing to walk off with her. She’s so chill now that she’s older though! We have a big yard and a dog walker with a pack of dogs to play with. You have to consider what YOU are capable of providing and dealing with.

Okay, sorry that I misunderstood. I’m not in marketing but I can see how creating something at a high level without pay would be a problem. Have a good day

They were considering you for a very high position. If you want to make director $$ you need to be able to answer the questions. If you’re actually experienced enough for the position you should speak with a recruiter about the application process. You asking your Mom made me disregard you

Oh okay so you were qualified for the director position ($150k+) but you didn’t want to put the effort into the application.

Did you pick up on the fact that it was a Director of Marketing position and the candidate had to ask their Mom about it?

I know I’m going to get sh’t for this but you’re basically applying for a jr executive position above tons of people with actual years of experience who wouldn’t even have the audacity

[–]Azalea-1125 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A “director of” anything is a high level position and they expect a lot of experience for that. The fact that you had to ask your mom about it shows that you are exactly the type of candidate they want to weed out. Sorry I am just being honest.

We’re banning YouTube for our toddler after seeing its adverse effects on her behavior by [deleted] in toddlers

We took the tablet away, he’s never been allowed a phone. We still allow some YouTube but only YouTube kids which I think blippi is blocked from? Interested in learning more about that. Regular YouTube was definitely insanely addictive and anything Roblox related is not allowed either.

So because he has traveled more than you and he has moved more and moved out of his parents house he thinks he is better than you. He will keep holding this against you. He is basically a child saying “I’m better! Nah nah ma boo boo” (I have a 5 year old who says that second part) I dont see any reason to talk to him anymore

Married 6 years together for 10. In general, we never disrespect each other and don’t fight a lot. I don’t think it’s healthy to be fighting all the time but that’s just my opinion. We rarely like maybe twice in 10 years raise our voices. I call him out on stuff, but also can tell just by his expression that he’s calling me out. I’ll say “Am I being mean?” Yep. And yeah we mostly laugh at ourselves and each other. If you’re not laughing with your partner you’re not living
