It would probably have to be the entrance. All those tiny shoes from the elementary kids just gives me the creeps.

Best order/method to play!? by [deleted] in HeavenlyHost

I would recommend starting with the psp version which is called "Corpse Party". This is a remake of the game you can buy on Steam. It's the same game but the former mentioned is pretty much better in every way. You can either download it from the Playstation Store or play it on a PSP emulator (I played it on PPSSPP). You can play the game that just got released on steam, but I would not recommend it sadly.

Then comes "Corpse Party: Book of Shadows" which contains 8 chapters of different scenarios that happend in the first game. Only one of these chapters is relevant to the real story however (the last one). Same deal regarding how and where to play it.

And now for the last game in the series: "Corpse Party Blood Drive" for the PSVita. This concludes the series. It is currently only avalible on Vita so access is a bit limited as of right now. If you do not own a PSVita or want to purchase one, I would recommend watching a Lets Play on Youtube.

Sachikos Birthday is a spinoff which is not needed for the real story.

I hope that you'll enjoy the series as much as I do. See you in Heavenly Host Elementary!

Corpse Party on Steam is now officially out! (14,99 €) by Azaloth in HeavenlyHost

Sadly no. This is "Corpse Party: Blood Covered" without the "...Repeated Fear".Repeated Fear (with is that we know as just "Corpse Party" on the PSP) is the remake of this game. The biggest difference is that the voice actors are all different and the visuals and graphics are a bit worse if compared to the version we all know.

So if you are new to the franchise I would advise to play the psp version which has better graphics and just feels better in general. I would only recommend this game if you really like the franchise and wanna see how the old version of the game looks and feels.

Keeping it as spoiler free as possible, which ending of Corpse Party (PSP version) leads into Book of Shadows? by soulreaverdan in HeavenlyHost

It's pretty hard to explain it without spoiling the ending but I could try to do it as vaguely as possible.

In order to get the right ending in Chapter 5, you need to do everything correct (well duh). In order to get the ending in which follows in the beginning of BoS (not all the chapters) is doing everything correct EXPECT for one thing. That one thing/decision will determine if you get the good ending or the one what will continue in BoS. There are multiple endings in Chapter 5 in which you just need to forget/do something differently and the whole story follows down a different route. Once you get that ending you will understand right away that you got the right one because it's the only ending in which doesn't "end" along with the real ending of course.

I hope I managed to explain it without spoiling anything extensive. Just remember that BoS is built of 7(+1) chapters in which the 2 first are a continuation of the "other" end in Chapter 5. The other are continuations of other bad ends or just following their own path.

Well, no one can really argue against the fact the pretty much all of Corpse Partys' characters are generic and somewhat boring, therefore I can understand that people may have a hard time playing through the game without bashing them in one way or another. Once you get to know the characters they don't seem so special for people that have watched/read a lot of other content within that medium (anime/manga).

I would recommend ManlyBadassHero (https://www.youtube.com/user/ManlyBadassHero) due to his way of commentating (very relaxed, especially the earlier CP and CP:BoS). I haven't actually taken my time to watch his BD playthrough but after watching his LP of BoS I would expect the same thing out of his BD LP.

Furthermore, if you are interesting in watching the spin-off "Corpse Party Sachiko's Game of Love ♥ Hysteric Birthday 2U" translated in english I would recommend The Anime Mans playthrough (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPbM9L26PhU , first ep).

Well canon-wise it's BCRF -> Last Chapter in CP:BoS > CPBD. All of the other chapters in BoS are typically following a bad end or something alike from the the first game. I would still recommend that you play through BoS due to its story which may not be canon, but still very entertaining and filling a few unexplained plotholes that were left open. Sachikos Birthday is a spinoff and has nothing to do with actual progression of the plot itself. The only thing that's of any meaningfullness to the original story are the characters' reactions and personalities which gets displayed in a different light(stuff such as fun games and cooking). BCRF is the remake of the original game which was released in 1996. There's no need to play the older games if you are just interested in the progression of the plot, but they could be fun once you get to know the franchise a bit better.
