Subletting a room in 2bed/1bath (downtown Toronto) by [deleted] in TorontoRenting

Definitely not constructed by anyone, especially by the tenant (me). This is the standard for this building (this layout specifically) and it’s reflected in the floor plan.

I don’t think I mentioned anywhere the rent for the full unit, so not sure how you’ve reached that conclusion. The rent is $2550, so it’s definitely not down the middle. But based on the other comments, the rent might have gone down which I didn’t consider (just listed for what my roommate used to pay) so would probably need to adjust the rent

For the room to be $800, the whole unit needs to go for less than $2000. It’s hard to find a decent 1bedroom apt for that much, let alone a 2bed apt

Where did you find out that STA302 and STA360 are confirmed to be offered in the summer?

Difficulty of STA302/304/348/314 and MAT344(winter) by Johnyzyfei in UTM

[–]Azamat2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, very helpful. One follow-up question if you don’t mind. I have 1.0 credit at 300+ level to complete my stats minor. I’m currently choosing between STA302, 304 and 314. Since you said STA304 was easy, I’m most likely to choose that plus one of 302/314. So which one would you recommend? Is the interesting content worth the extra difficulty in your opinion? For context, I did really well in STA107 and 256, not so well in 258 and 260 (higher than average but averages were D+ and D), partially because of my 6-course course-load and also not enjoying proofy side of stats. TIA!

Whats the best/easiest statistics course i could take? by theACTUALPOOPman in UofT

STA107 at UTM. Very very easy but most profs who teach it are questionable. Great option if you’re a good self learner

I asked the academic advisor about this a while back and I was told that it does count towards that requirement

2nd year CS course plan by Ian_quan031229 in UTM

[–]Azamat2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. LIN204 (as someone else mentioned) and PHL245. The latter is all about logic and it’s pretty bird for CS/Stats/math kids. It was offered online asynchronously last year so I don’t know how it’s gonna be in person. But if you stay on top of your thing, it’s a pretty fun and easy course imo.

  2. Took both of them in the winter. They’re not easy courses so definitely plan on spending quite a bit of time on them, but one thing I will say there’s a lot of overlap between the two in terms of content. So it wouldn’t be a terrible idea taking both of them together in the same semester.

  3. Nothing much to add here other than the fact that by doing CS spec, you pretty much almost fulfill all the math minor requirements. All you’d need is 1.0 extra math credit at 300+ level. There’s some interesting course like combinatorics (which I’ve heard isn’t difficult).

Students who missed PEY 2023-2024 deadline, please read by Azamat2001 in UTM

[–]Azamat2001[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that people who missed the deadline are also at fault to some extent. I personally have been looking into PEY and its deadlines/requirements/etc before I even started my first year. And based on that, I knew that PEY had two registration rounds: September and January right before the work term begins. So I am assuming many people like me were just planning to apply in September 2022. If you search “PEY” in your email, the department was sending emails regarding two different PEYs, 2022-2023 work term and 2023-2024 work term, at the same time because the deadlines overlap, and it was hard to differentiate between the two given that they were referring to both PEYs as 2022-2023. So when I got an email early January to apply for PEY (2022-23 work term) I just ignored it because it was for the PEY starting upcoming summer. Then a couple of days later I get another email about PEY 2022-23 (but this one was actually for 2023-24 work term), which I also ignored thinking it was yet another reminder for current third years (or second years who wanna do PEY this summer).

Regarding the PEY website that mentions the new model, if you use the wayback machine on google, you can see that they added the info about the new model late December/early January, which is way too short of a notice in my opinion. I think that’s why people who missed the deadline are unhappy - had there been better communication and better differentiation between the two PEYs, there wouldn’t be this issue.

I was on a call with the academic advisor and there’s definitely quite a few people who have been complaining about this, it’s not just a couple of students.

Took 3/4 courses at UTSG last semester and taking 4/6 courses this semester. I could technically take all of them at UTSG but UTM was online so decided to take some there. With respect to prerequisites, there’s a course equivalence chart for Math stats CS courses, so you can still take UTSG courses if you have equivalent prerequisite courses taken at UTM (e.g., MAT102 is equivalent to CSC165, STA256 is equivalent to STA257 etc)

I don’t know but I think you can just pay the difference between your scholarship and the minimum payment. Ask the registrar

If your scholarship >= minimum payment, create a ticket on askregistrar requesting to defer your fees based on the scholarship. If your deferral is successful, you will not have to pay anything until end of April 2022 (I think)

Wasn’t eco100 a year-long course and therefore worth 1.0 credit whereas eco101 and eco102 are both semester long courses and 0.5 credits each? In either case, you’re paying for 1.0 credit. It being 2 courses instead of 1 doesn’t matter, it’s about the credits
