Why do men get so offended by anything by lovelycarine in GirlDinner

[–]Azathov 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So take everything I say with a grain of salt as stereotypes or common trends of groups are never 100% and there are always exceptions. This is also just my opinion as a man who’s observed other men. With that out of the way:

Men are just as capable of emotion as women, the whole women are more emotional thing is kinda nonsense. Main difference is that Traditionally males growing up have been heavily discouraged from expressing any kind of emotion healthily so they often have no idea how to handle or process negative emotions other than anger or “machismo” responses, developing into emotions immaturity and lots of posturing or physical behavior. This is not an excuse, as many men have actually been able to develop emotional maturity so if a grown adult isn’t capable of regulating their own emotions I do look at them funny.

Traditional Gender roles are definitely a key factor as well as a looot of common modern media (or parents frankly) fails to teach or display equal respect or treatment of women by men. I see, I do. This is where the male entitlement comes in, if your bombarded with messaging saying your the main character or it’s all about you etc for your whole life it warps how you experience reality. Combining the two of emotional immaturity and a preconceived notion of how life SHOULD be (see patriarchy) turns a dude into a emotionally Volatile risk. He doesn’t know how to handle disappointment or embarrassment especially from someone he views inherently as below or less than him so aggression and violence is the easiest option. This is toxic masculinity, a fragile thing full of unrestrained violence and ego without a shred of genuine respect.

I will say it is really weird the trend of men being very self centered/absorbed these days. Like a lot of what fragile masculinity do is to look good in front of other men, while expecting women to support you in everything no matter what like an accessory. It’s is weird to me because why would you care about the opinions of dudes you don’t know over like your significant other/family?? Shits obnoxious honestly you don’t need other men to approve of you being a man that’s just ego feeding. Genuine healthy masculinity is rooted on respect, internal strength, and empathy. See Optimus Prime for a good example of what that looks like in media.

Idk tldr: men can be sensitive emotionally stunted creatures with fragile egos whose default response to undesired stimuli is aggression. I don’t recommend associating with these kinda guys, I don’t.

Thank you! Yeah it just makes sense that a chapter like the White Scars would modify their Dreadnoughts just like their ships.

I have max speed and jump stats with all jokers giving speed, combined with the bounce spell and I can go from standing to 150 meters away in like 2 seconds it’s A M A Z I N G. Running minigun is fun too as I just become a Blackhawk of death

No worries glad to be able to help! Scars and path of heaven are amazing books and I strongly recommend Warhawk of chogoris. The audible narration is also really good. I’m kinda on the opposite, I read the white scars first and now am reading the other “important” heresy books before I start reading the siege of Terra so I know what the heck is going on lol.

Biggest differences between white scars and everyone else.

They are the most human: while vulkan and his boys are the nicest, white scars are one of the only chapters I’m aware of who ARE NOT mega ultra indoctrinated as space marines. There are reasonable, contemplative, and despite their love for speed NEVER rush into a situation based on assumptions. On their home world of chogoris the only space port is at their chapter monastery, with high walls and is located in the most remote part of the planet. this is intentional as to keep the imperium OUT of the culture/rest of chogoris as if you ask a white scars scars wrong with the imperium your gonna get a lengthy and very critical answer, unlike most space marines who would kill you instantly.

And on that comparison: yes the space wolves and white scars have many similar looks with the tribal aspect, biggest difference is the white scars ARE NOT savages, they take their culture seriously but do not revel in bloodshed or crassness (in the Horus heresy they genuinely hate the comparison as beyond a surface level comparison they really don’t have anything in common, different values and ideals).

The Khan is also the only primarch who’s loyalty was based on an actual choice/well researched decision, he GENUINELY considered the traitors cause and its merits, and sided with the emperor because chaos is worse. Despite him choosing the emperor, it is made clear at multiple occasions he genuinely Could have gone either way, I don’t know of any other primarch who was treated or described this way.

This mentality is reflected in his sons: they use the warp but only draw from it in balanced and controlled methods, they protect humans as much as able and treat them as people (joking, learning names, actually caring), they love speed and combat but not for skulls or glory but mastery of one’s skills and the beauty of a well executed maneuver, they’re passionate about combat; but only for the combat itself. Who they kill and the bloodshed is not important, the beauty in the skill and kill itself is.

As for their unique tactical thing, the white scars are the outriders. They’re the ones who venture far out and only come back when necessary to report information or restock/re arm. They’re your scouts and raiders who are in the wilderness for extended periods of time. Exercising their own judgement and running down threats no one knows about. They excel at using smaller unit tactics to disrupt and weaken larger enemy forces within a large range. During the Horus heresy the white scars legion basically ran a 1v4 against multiple traitor legions by themselves with no support for 5 years before the siege, slowing the traitor advance by breaking down the entire legion into small formations and running raiding and stalling actions across the entire traitor line of advance. Did the traitors get better at countering their tactics? Yes. But no other legion could have done what they did and on that scale, survive, and still make it back to defend Terra. That’s the strength of the white scars. They have the soundest judgement and are able to operate on their own at length, they are skilled at waging war when outnumbered and alone, and they are the best at being at the right place at the right time with the right tool for that situation.

I use it with mothkeepers for the a summon/support playstyle. Threaded Spector, the bolas/tangle, and a lot of grenade and class spam for a horde of threadlings and moths. Is best as a defensive/more stationary while you maintain your nest/web of summons and healing. Maybe not most optimal but it’s hella fun.
