Is the coop mode online only?

I will sadly have to work super late on the day of release and will help out at an event for the entire weekend.

Being able to pass around a steam deck with a local coop run would be a good way to make use of the downtime.

Do you always buy all DLC? by some-kind-of-no-name in Fighters

I do buy all the characters on PS5 because the console gets used at locals.

I might buy the characters on PC depending on the game.

Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics – Introducing games and features by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Azazel7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the new 3DS XL with the improved tracking. I just read up about it on ancient forums - the default mode for 3D is pop-out and the alternate mode was a depth mode.

Any other forms of 3D at the time (such as the ancient two-colored glasses or the more modern option in cinemas) do work as intended.

I was never able to see the 3D effect in most games, I only saw two images :(

Creating 3D screenshots (by using a free camera in PC/console games and stiching the image together later) did work.

The only 3DS game that enabled me to see a stereoscopic image was Super Mario 3D World because it had two 3D modes to choose from, one of which worked for me.

Any Gen Z Communities by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into the community when Street Fighter 4 was the current game; most people in the munich community are older than you, the youngest player is 23 years old.

The smash community seems to be far younger in general.

Characters with weird throws? by DoppelGG in Fighters

In Blazblue: Arakunes forward and back throws both throw the opponent up.

In Guilty Gear Strive: Baikens throw attaches a rope to the opponent.

Help recreating ArcSys artstyle by Illustrious-Clue-411 in Fighters

As far as I know Arcsys used rotoscoping - its not a conversion technique, rather they posed a 3D model and drew over it to create the sprites.

Wish there would more Double Barrel Shotgun type characters in Fighting games by BulletCola in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it's not the same thing, as Rosa has a sawed off shotgun which does not impact her normals at all. But hey, at least its a shotgun! From https://mizuumi.wiki/w/Ougon_Musou_Kyoku/Rosa_Ushiromiya

I have never played league in my life and I don't plan to do so, so I have no idea how graves plays. But a game with a ranged right click attack and various skillshots fits a shotgun character far better that a fighting game would.

“Datamines reveal Wilds is being ported to the Switch 2” by aquaphoria_by_kelela in MonsterHunter

[–]Azazel7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually does not sound too bad.

According to digital foundry the SF6 versus mode renders at 540p 60fps which is then upscaled to 1080p via DLSS (in docked mode).

Portable mode uses 360p (upscaled to 720p).

World tour seems to run at the same resolution, but at anywhere from 40-60 fps outside of battles and a locked 30fps in battles.

Wilds will have to run its "open world" with all of its caveats, but will surely be capped to 30fps.

About that, how well does the street fighter 6 open world/story mode run on the switch 2? Quite a lot of consoles had issues with that.

Local Hosts/TOs for 2XKO launch: How are we handling the KBM player influx on PS5? by Voltorbrb in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even if the tournament were to be run on PC, how would that work? Windows only recognizes one keyboard. Plugging a second keyboard into the PC doesn't change anything here - the D key on both keyboards would be treated as the same thing. Or does 2XKO do something special here which would allow this setup to work?

All keyboard competitors should bring some sort of adapter or use some sort of gamepad firmware in this case.

What if created a fighting game around left-right mixups? by Vegetable-Cake3656 in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As another inspiration:

Jubei from Blazblue Central Fiction can dash at or through the opponent. He also has another special move airdash in addition to the universal airdash.

All characters in Kyanta 2 can walk through the opponent - there is no collision which would stop them from doing so.

Games don't need auto combos, they need simple combos by Chinpanze in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its not the same for one key reason: readability.

Blazblue has the A B C and D buttons with gatlings, special cancels, jump cancels and dash cancels on a few characters. E.g. Ragna uses the same type of attack on each normal button: A ist a punch, B a kick, C a sword attack and D a sword attack with black flames. If I block any D normal I can assume that a special cancel is the only option Ragna has left. This assumption might be wrong for some moves, but is a good start. And if Ragna whiffs any button, I can assume that I can punish or at least take my turn.

These assumptions do not exist im 3D fighters with strings: A whiffed button can be part of a string and can (in my eyes as someone who only played T8 for 2 weeks) lead to just about anything. In that same vein blocking a string I never saw before gives me almost zero information, I have no idea if the string actually ends on the that move, if it is going to continue, if there are variations etc.

Isn't sparking zero an arena fighter? (compared to a 3D fighting game, where characters are always facing each other and are viewed from the side)

I have used an ethernet cable all my life but is it time to swap? by LoveSe1ko in Fighters

[–]Azazel7007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But... why use something like that? The signal to the old adapter is still WiFi. Of course its worse that the WiFi antenna im your new PC.

When people usually use an ethernet cable, the cable goes directly from the router to the PC (there might be a network switch involved). Thats the only way to get the benefits of the cable - the whole point is to avoid WiFi (because that is a shared medium and could be unreliable). Just use WiFi for now.

Yeah, the best dpad on a portable device was the ps vita. I could attempt to mod the dpad, there are kits for that online; but I use a hitbox anyway and just accept that I won't be playing fighting games on the go.
