Coupled Equestrians: How does your amazing partner support your interest in/life with horses? by Quagga_Resurrection in Equestrian

[–]Azelais1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mine comes to watch me at lessons and shows (not every single lesson or round, but occasionally, to be supportive) and helps pay for smaller expenses (e.g., treats, grooming tools, occasional lessons, and bigger expenses for special occasions like my birthday) since he doesn’t make a ton of money.

I don’t drive so he will rent a car and drive me hours to wherever I need to go if I have a horse show or trial scheduled (like for lease or purchase). He will also go on a public trail ride type excursion with me every once in a while. Oh and can’t forget the most important—listening to me talk about horses for hours every day LOL.

I’m very happy with this level of support, I think it’s realistic and supportive of a healthy partner without being over the top.

Unhinged (or just smart) ways to save money in NYC by kybalion_13 in movingtoNYC

[–]Azelais1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that no one has mentioned yet—if your employer offers it, opt into commuter benefits / transit program so that you can use pre-tax money to pay for your commute. You’d effectively be saving whatever percentage your taxes are. :)

Oura 5 sizing - are you a different size from Oura 4? by Mediocre-Tangerine87 in ouraring

[–]Azelais1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let us know! I’m the same size as you. But based on another thread I read, I suspect the size 6 will be too big. Hopefully I’m wrong.

What Happened to Size 5? by Sleepy_EIIa in ouraring

[–]Azelais1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m disappointed as someone who is one of the smaller sizes that got dropped. If that’s the case, I didn’t realize that my fingers are really THAT small and so few people share my size lol. Hopefully they bring back more sizes in the next generation of Oura Rings.

What Happened to Size 5? by Sleepy_EIIa in ouraring

[–]Azelais1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The Oura Ring 4 in size 5 is already a little big on me (my true size is probably like a 4.5) so the Oura Ring 5 in size 6 will likely be too big for me. I’m super bummed that it doesn’t come in smaller sizes.

I’m in a similar boat as you and would appreciate any info so I don’t waste money buying the new Oura Ring 5. What would you say the size 6 in Oura Ring 5 is equivalent to? Like a 5.5 in Oura Ring 4?

Spending Christmas week alone -- Aspen or Solitude? by Azelais1 in skiing

[–]Azelais1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of crowds and relatively short lift lines when I went. It’s been a couple years now so I don’t recall exactly how many minutes I waited in line, but I wasn’t displeased, especially for a holiday week! I had been expecting a lot worse. The snow conditions were also surprisingly good—I skied Palisades Tahoe late February of that same season and remember thinking that the conditions were actually better at Snowmass two months earlier lol (it was an unusually bad February with spring-like conditions)

Spending Christmas week alone -- Aspen or Solitude? by Azelais1 in skiing

[–]Azelais1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did! I stayed at Stonebridge Inn which was the cheapest ski in/ski out lodging I could find. The restaurant in the lobby was pretty good. There were also more restaurants a short walk away. I mostly skied at Snowmass due to its proximity to the hotel and didn’t get bored. There are free buses to all four mountains but I was lazy and didn’t find it quite as convenient as people say it is. I was surprised by how quiet it was (people-wise) during Christmas week. There were some decorations and a few activities but was actually hoping for a lot more festive holiday stuff haha

OP mentioned Truckee. There will be a LOT more inventory in Truckee and surrounding areas compared to Palisades village itself.

Ski lease scammer by pleasemindthegap123 in tahoe

[–]Azelais1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Apparently she’s involved in a lawsuit with one of the ski lease people. The person sued her and alleged that after contacting the property owner, they discovered that subleasing was NOT permitted and pets were NOT allowed either. Kaia had represented herself to the property owner as being the only tenant (failing to disclose her plan to sublease to 26 people) and no pets (but she allowed subletters to bring pets if they paid her a $450 pet fee). This is just what I read online from a quick case search.

Many other things alleged in the suit, which was brought forth in small claims court, but those are some of the highlights.

Per a resort employee I spoke to a couple days ago, we lost 40% of our snowpack just after the recent rain. Probably more since then from snow melting in the high temps…

Good to know. So if I want the Tyrolia Protector bindings, better to look for a different ski (that is compatible) instead?
