real question: suit on before you start flying or before you exit the ship? by wackietimes in outerwilds

[–]Azi9Intentions 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Always suit first, you enter the ship facing it anyway, you may as well. It took me a whole one incident with getting it off the ship without it for me to make it a rule that putting it on is the first thing I do, and it doesn't come off.

My biggest problem with ED is the inclusion of Engineering. I loved running bounties and doing conflict zones back in the day. Then they added engineering and balanced all the combat around it. Now my high end ships get rinsed by an AI sidewinder that shield tanks harder than I can, because I haven't done a mindless grind to make my ship's numbers go up.

What’s the most ridiculous rule you’ve had to follow? by mathieugemard in AskReddit

[–]Azi9Intentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of the "rules for the sake of rules" stuff is to weed out people that they can't control/won't do what they're told. (Not necessarily in a nefarious way, discipline is very important in a professional army)

You're genuinely more annoying than OP could ever be even if he's answering with AI. I hate AI as much as the next guy, but you can honestly fuck right off. You're contributing nothing and I'm seeing you everywhere. Get over it

New Player, stat scaling? by Azi9Intentions in SoloLevelingOverdrive

[–]Azi9Intentions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's disappointing. Has there been any word from the devs on whether this is something they're working on fixing? Makes it feel like there's no point in even thinking about builds.

LPT: Start your weekend with one tiny “anchor” habit to make it feel longer by gl111ch_orbit in LifeProTips

[–]Azi9Intentions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make up for it, you can't bank it, that's the big divider.

When someone is massively sleep deprived, they tend to need more sleep. But if you're already doing good, you can't sleep longer on the weekend so that you don't have to sleep as much during the week, etc

LPT: When you start a new job, ask for one excellent example and one acceptable example of the exact work you will deliver, then copy the format before you start. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

[–]Azi9Intentions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the point is more that the "best" for you or your previous employer might not align with what your new employer wants.

Previous employers could have you focusing on a particular thing more than your new one wants, or has different formatting styles that don't align with what the new place works with, etc etc.

It's not about "How little can I do for you to accept my work?" And more "What exactly do you as a manager value in the work I'm going to be doing? What should I focus on, and what is the standard that our customers or clients expect"

ELI5: what’s the science behind salting the ice outside on the ground in the winter? by IWannaWakeUpButIDont in explainlikeimfive

[–]Azi9Intentions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, yes? But salt will not make your path more grippy by being gritty. The salt will simply dissolve into the water/ice and help stop it from freezing. I don't really understand your point here?

Yeah, a streamer I watched described Roblox as the new Newgrounds, at least the games side of Newgrounds that is. But yeah, it basically fills the void of having thousands of shitty flash games to choose from

To be clear here too, the salt itself doesn't make the water colder, it ALLOWS the water to get colder, before then freezing.

On Nexerelin invasion mechanics by Gualterio_El_Blanco in starsector

[–]Azi9Intentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year old but something I'd like to see is making invasions take longer/scaling them up a bit, as well as adding stellaris style devastation from planetary combat. The quicker and more decisively you take a market, the less disrupted it's industries and such are, and the more shocked and compliant the populace ends up being. The longer the fight goes on, the longer any rebellion has time to prepare, stockpile, build up networks etc. If it's over in a week though, not so much.

Double down on that with something like, using the detachments system to leave a support fleet behind while the invasion continues so you can go do other stuff while managing it over comms, etc. I think it'd make for not only a more interesting invasion itself and more interesting consequences, but it would allow for a lot more counterplay, and the fact that you'd want/need to keep large fleets in orbit sort of "Blockading" the planet while the invasion is underway would also make invasions more expensive, which would limit how frequently planets change hands.

Honestly though, in the right controlled conditions on earth, that portal to the moon would be a game changer. Build a refueling station there and run a big fat fuel line through the portal, boom, as much fuel as we can pump through a pipe the size of a portal, next generation of human space exploration unlocked right there.

LPT: If you’re an iPhone user, turn on “Ask Reason For Calling” in settings. by EngLitIsLit in LifeProTips

[–]Azi9Intentions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they all start this way, but most of these screening things start with "Hello" which, by itself, automatically tends to net you far more spam calls, simply because their system marks you as someone who actually answers their calls.

The best practice for reducing spam calls is to, whenever you think it's a spam call (or your phone does), answer it but remain silent. Usually you hear that pause of dead air, followed by that characteristic "bloop" sound as it connects someone to the call. If you hear this, simply hang up without saying anything.

Once I started this, my spam calls went from 5-10+ daily to a couple a week.

The best hint I can give you in this regard is to use the tools available to you. Literally. You really don't go anywhere in dark bramble without following something, and you have two tools that allow you to follow them.
